Unable to give 0 stars so 1 star will have to do. I arrived for a job interview on time at 12pm for this Staples in Lauderhill. As I am walking in, I notice a huge line of customers needing to return Amazon packages, and a line of customers needing printing services. No greeting of course, just silence and everyone standing around restlessly wondering what is taking so long. I notice a lady ask the printing associate to blow up a picture to which she flatly states, "we can't do that." She then sighs, says "give me a moment," walks away, and continues with the task she was doing. The energy in the store is flat and lifeless. Meanwhile, other workers are just browsing around the half full aisles looking like they are "busy." I let a worker know why I am there, and they state that the General Manager CHRIS SPARACO, will be with me in a moment. I start browsing around the store. As I am waiting, I notice how empty the store looks, as if they are going out of business soon. Another interesting thing was towards the back of the store; there were huge bins full of miscellaneous crap. Literal Crap, but hey as least its discounted? Disheveled merchandise, damaged, broken, opened. I mean the most random stuff, phone cases, weird seasonal items, even food that definitely looked questionable to be selling, let alone at a Staples and sitting in the bottom of a bin for God knows how long! Overall, the store looked half empty and in poor condition. As I am walking around waiting, an old couple browsing office chairs asks me, "Excuse me, do you work here?" I let them know unfortunately I don't, and they tell me I look like an inspector the way I am walking around with my portfolio. This couple ends up leaving eventually but right before they walk out, as they are passing me, they state, "This is ridiculous; they need more people man" To which I comment with my hands in the air, "Hey, I'll let them know." I thought about how unprofessional it is that there are workers walking around doing miscellaneous side tasks but unable to help customers who is clearly interested and needing assistance. That's a missed opportunity for a sale! However, after reading other reviews, it seems the general consensus is correct. Understaffed. So, after waiting over half an hour for an interview I was on time for, Chris finally is ready. Thank goodness because I had another interview in an hour! The interview, in my opinion went well aside from Chris, having no clue what position I am applying for. I met the current inventory specialist, Sherry, who gave me a better realistic depiction of what the job would be like. Towards the end of the interview, I make it a point to ask what the next steps would be, and when I can expect to hear back. Chris tells me to lookout for a background check email, and hands me a business card. I confirmed I would lookout for said background check email, thanked him for his time and left excited, as one normally would. Well, I received no such email checking my inbox and spam every day, calling the store to follow up, repeatedly waiting 15+ minute hold each time and still not getting through to anybody! I even emailed Chris with the email from the business card. So finally I decide to log into the candidate profile, and I cannot say I am surprised but low and behold; both applications read "No longer considered for this position." I am not upset that my application was denied. However, I expected more from the whole General Manager of the store. Pretty much the only people above CHRIS, I presume, would be the Regional Manager, and Corporate! My issue is with the complete lack of forthrightness and professionalism. I asked Chris directly what the next steps were, and he told me to look for a background check email while handing me his business card. That made it seem very clear that I was moving forward or receiving follow up. Instead, I received nothing, and had to discover on my own that both applications were marked "No longer considered for this position." If the answer was no, he should have been honest. Misleading and lying to a candidate's face and then disappearing is unacceptable behavior from anyone, but especially from a General Manager. This could be the reason why they are understaffed though. This is a warning not only to customers, but also to anyone looking for employment at Staples. If this is how the General Manager CHRIS SPARACO handles a basic hiring process, I can only imagine how Chris handles the store, his staff, and customer concerns. I would never consider applying for Staples again knowing this is how they conduct themselves, even if they were the last place on Earth hiring. Customers with time-sensitive needs or big purchases such as furniture and expensive equipment should be cautious, and applicants for any position, from store associate to management, should know exactly what kind of unprofessional experience they may be walking into.

I used their services to print stickers for my sister's baby shower. I printed them Bigger than expected for small bottles and end up using them on the gift bag. Definitely will be using their services again specially as I like to DIY a lot of things.

I love that Staples is a one stop shop for many things like making copies, shipping things, buying office supplies, etc.... Funny story on how this company began.....the idea for Staples originated in 1985, when the founder Thomas Stemberg was working on a proposal for a different business. He needed a ribbon for his printer, but was unable to obtain one because his local dealer was closed for the Independence Day holiday. A frustration with the reliance on small stores for critical supplies combined with Stemberg's background in the grocery business led to a vision for an office supply superstore. The first store was opened in the Brighton neighborhood of Boston in 1986. Staples started with backing from private equity firms including Bain Capital; Bain co-founder Mitt Romney served on the company's board of directors for the next 15 years, helping shape their business model. So heavy pockets helped the growth of the company. I like that I was able to find some fabric markers for a small home project I had, at a reasonable price. The store was large and the people in here were busy stacking stuff on the shelves and helping others.

    A very large store.

I have been a Staples customer for so many years. They were always my go-to for office supples and even some technology. This review is pretty much the same from location to location: I am definitely a Staples fan.... These days I am just not as happy with their store upkeep. It is not with the team members, they are always helpful and I definitely felt their frustration when they are constantly out of items and the unfortunate part is that it's out of their control. It's a beautiful clean and bright store, but very few people. The store I was in (Tamarac) was a beautiful location and not very busy, why? It's holiday season, do you want people browsing and shopping in the stores? At this rate people will continue to use the internet for al their office shopping (Which can even be done in Best Buy and Costco.). They must get their marketing campaign back. I did not see anything dedicated to Black Friday... No signs in the store. I want to see their flyers back in the papers and hear them saying, "That was Easy."

This location has massive customer service issues. The store is also unkempt. The area the business is in influences this.
