Daniella was friendly and incredibly helpful. She made recommendations on ribbon and weight and also explained a trick for keeping the number balloons together. On the whole, I really like this location - everyone is very nice and helpful here. My complaint is mostly with the staples.com online ordering site. I placed an order for Journals. My school was recently impacted by the Franklin Fire. Due to fire damage, we won't be able to return to our campus until at least January 6. In the meantime, we've been relocated to another school, but none of our supplies or belongings could be brought with us. For safety reasons, we're not even allowed to step onto our campus to retrieve something as small as a pencil or a book. Hoping for some help, I visited Staples to request donations. I explained the situation to a kind cashier, who relayed my story to the store manager over their headset. Unfortunately, I was told that donations had to be approved by corporate, and there was nothing they could do on the spot. What upset me the most was that the manager didn't even take the time to come out, express sympathy, or explain the policy directly. This is an immediate crisis. Many of our students have lost their homes, and all of us have been displaced from our school. A company as large as Staples should be able to provide some form of help in situations like this. Surely, they could have found a way to assist with basic school supplies in the short term or at least have managers with better customer service who could have explained this in person. The Westlake Village Staples used to be my go-to store, but after experiencing this impersonal response to such an urgent need, I can no longer support an establishment that handles community crises in this way. read more

I accidentally jammed a Inkjet cartridge in my HP 3-in-1 printer when I received it in mail. I am on auto ship for cartridges with HP when they see my ink is running low. Silly me should have checked the label on ink package and would have known the ink that needed replacing was my color cartridge. Not my black and white ink cartridge. As a result of my inserting the color cartridge in the black and white slot box it wouldn't jammed. When I realized i inserted wrong cartridge i attempted to remove it. The saga continued! After calling HP for any tips to remove the cartridge and not getting it removed after speaking to them, I decided to contact Staples for assistance and spoke to Victor who offered to give it a try to remove the cartridge. When I got to Staples Victor was assisting a customer and his Manager who happened to be at the technical service desk, Jurabu offered to help me. He was able to get the cartridge out! They were so kind and helpful and although I caused the problem, they didn't charge me a service fee. Of course I made a few purchases when all was said and done. Their store is my "Go To" store for technical issues. I initially purchased my printer there and it is out of warranty. It's a breath of fresh air to get the kind of service I received from Victor and Jurabu. I highly recommend them!!! True professionals who care about their customers. Thank you! read more

I was in a particularly foul mood tonight as nothing seemed to work in my favor the entire day. I ordered something online from a clothing retailer and of course my order would be wrong. So I needed to get a shipping label printed and all that jazz. And of course to my dismay, it's Friday and I can't print said label at the office at work since tomorrow is Saturday. Drove to FedEx. Yelp said they were open. Wrong. Went to staples and met the kind young lady working at the printer station. I come here to get my office supplies and have no problems or hassles whatsoever. They recently moved a bunch of things around to give it a new touch up and changed the checkout lines by pushing them all the way back to the near-front of the store instead of the middle. There is enough space around the lanes to move a cart around with ease and the items and displays are kept clean and stocked. The staff are also friendly and helpful with any questions I have. The reason I am giving a 4-Star review is because of my recent trip to Staples last Sunday. I went in with 20 ink cartridges to recycle and to buy a few ink cartridges as well. No problem with any of that until the very end of my transaction. The cashier (didn't get his name) was telling me that if I do the survey of that day and mention his name, that I need to give him a rating of 9 or 10 since anything under 9 (according to him) is considered poor service and that he would greatly appreciate it a 9 or 10 rating. I understand that surveys are to provide feedback about the stores and employees which are taken very seriously, but I felt that I shouldn't have to give a fair rating because an employee told me to, I thought that was very unprofessional and a bit rude. I was originally not going to give a poor rating at all from my recent trip to Staples, but telling customers that they HAVE to rate higher than 9 is not right. read more

But, if you can't wait (your completely out of paper or ink, for example), coming in for instant satisfaction can't be outdone. Service here, for me, has been quite helpful. Quick visit last weekend for card stock to create props for wedding photo booth. They had a variety in different colors, but were out of plain white without buying a larger amount than I needed. Was able to find a combo pack of colors, which allowed me to create announcements for an event, in addition to the original purpose. That section could have used re-stocking, for certain. Staples in Westlake Village always has great service. They greet you as you walk in and they make sure you can find what you need in the store...just ask them if you need help. They have literally everything "office" related. If they don't have what you are looking for they can order it. I come here to get paper for my Epson printer, EZ tape, 3 ring 1" binders and ink for my printer. Those are MY main "go to" items. But... I find as I walk around, many other things that I might be interested in-cases for laptops or cute stationary and, well, I can get distracted. This is also my families spot for art projects or big poster board-homework. Between middle school and high school-this Staples store has always had what our family needed...even when we go last minute! It is very well stocked at all times I have found. They have restrooms that are clean so that helps when you have kids. If you broke your backpack at school that day, they have them here for you to replace and they have some fun ones too! I am very grateful for my "one stop shopping" experience because as a single mom, I need to get everything and move on. It's so nice when you don't have to drive to 6 different stores to find what you need. It's all here and that makes it easy for my family. Also, if you are a "Gamer" and want a comfy chair they have a lot of great options in the furniture section towards the bathrooms. Depending on what your budget is, you can find some great office chairs here. And, have you ever seen tat they have "college" size desks for all of those students heading to the dorms so these affordable little tables can come in handy when studying late into the night in your dorm room, while your roommates sleep. They are pretty sturdy, I bought one and put it together myself for my sons in high school. He uses it all the time-and he likes having it in his room so he can work privately and not be distracted. Only note-beware of the candy and goodies at the check out counter as many items can be impulse buys... when you are standing in line...but hey-who's judging?!? So, to wrap it up-If you need work or school supplies, this is the place. The staff has always been nice to me and I appreciate how helpful they are when I am mailing letters, faxing something, or buying something and want to understand the warrantee options are. This place is understaffed and the employees seem annoyed when you want help. They also don't keep their word when it comes to having stuff ready. Paid to have an office chair assembled and they said within 24 hours. Two days went by when I called for an update they got annoyed or couldn't find the order at all. I never received a call when it was ready and of course had to call to again deal with an employee who was obviously irritated as soon as they answered. They can't find my chair. Because I needed the item that day, I told the employee who was helping me, Victor, to cancel it. However, he was very patient, took his time, and asked for assistance from another employee to see why the item hadn't come. It's expensive but convenient normally, but late August it's a nightmare mess, with notebooks and Sharpies scattered all over the floor.
