No matter where I live, I fly back to Salt Lake City to go to Alice Zampedri at Star 21. I'm fussy as all get out about my hair, and she has always made it look exactly right. I've done different colors, lengths, extensions, etc. here and am always thrilled with the results. Most salons I've been to do some sort of poofy blow-out and you leave looking like you got caught in a wind machine. I'm confident I can make an appointment right after visiting Star 21 and look good. Awesome. The waiting area is comfortable with magazines, coffee, and soda. The restroom is very clean. I had a good experience with the salon, stylist, and the work I had done on my hair. The salon is nice without being fancy, the kind of place I would think anyone could feel comfortable, with stylists and client comprising a variety of ages and ethnicities. My stylist was very competent and polite, and I received a compliment on my hair after leaving. My gripe is that salons are very reluctant to let you know what their prices are, and make you feel cheap if you ask. I chose this one in part because they had a range of prices posted online (http://www.star21salonslc.com/services/hair-care) which seemed reasonable. I wound up being charged $20 more than the maximum price listed for the services I received. read more

Hair cut was mediocre. I would not recommend Kristen. I wanted a blow dry, but since I was getting layers she couldn't put any curl into the blow dry. My hair came out looking like a puffed triangle. She didn't know what to do so just re wetted it and I left with dripping hair. I was still charged for a blow dry and when I asked about it was guilted. Other stylists might be better. read more

I really don't like writing unfavorable reviews, but this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a salon. I stopped in for a manicure and they were able to take me as a walk-in. The lady that did my manicure was really nice and chatty but it was the worst shellac manicure I've ever had. The layers were really thick and uneven, there was a hair stuck in the nail polish that she hadn't even seen and I had to point out as she was putting my hand under the light. I left with nail polish all around my nail bed and the polish started coming off in about two days. My nails are totally destroyed from this manicure. I hope it was just a fluke and not representative of their work as a whole. The salon itself was kept up and clean and all the staff was really friendly. But as to their nail service--unfortunately--I would suggest looking somewhere else. read more

Go see Jen for all of your beauty needs. Hair, facials, make-up. She is amazing. I've always had temperamental skin, but had it under control with bi-monthly facials at a plastic surgeon's office in my hometown. I moved to SLC last year and after a few months, my face started going crazy again. I saw a few estheticians in the area, but they never really listened to what I needed and ended up making my skin worse. I finally found Charlie on Yelp and he was great, but didn't have a high frequency machine (my skin reacts really well to that), so he referred me to Jen. I was a little hesitant to go to a salon for a medical facial, but I felt comforted as soon as I met Jen. She is so sweet and listened to everything I had to say and helped me figure out a good regimen. For the first few facials, she spent hours on me to get my skin under control. I have been seeing her every two weeks for a few months now and my face looks better than ever! She also cut and colored (highlights and lowlights) my hair and it was one of the best cuts/color/highlights I've ever had. read more

I have had an amazing experience with pedicures ever since I started getting them done by Heidi Bishop at Star 21. I had been to several places in the past but I can truly attest that Heidi goes above and beyond with her pedicure treatments. She is both very thorough and detailed in her pedicure treatment. She makes sure to get all the dead skin off your soles and gently removes all the grime and dirt under each nail. She uses excellent products too, which will leave your skin soft and smooth. And above all, she is very warm hearted person and has a dynamic personality. So, you will most definitely enjoy your time with her, right from your sole to your soul! read more

The staff does a very good job listening to what you want, giving helpful advice and getting the job done right! The salon itself has a very comforting, professional vibe. This review should have been done a long time ago, but better late than never. I bought a mani/pedi amazon local deal with Heidi a couple years ago. It was the first time I have ever gotten a pedicure or manicure. Heidi was very personable and fun. I thought she did a great job. I told her that I was going to be getting married in a week and she suggested that I have one of the hair dressers who works there do my hair for the big day. So, I took her advice and came back to get my hair done for my wedding the next week. While I was getting my hair done, Heidi came over and touched up my nails. She wouldn't take any money and just wished me luck. My hair turned out beautiful, my nails looked great, and I left as a very happy customer. I was new to the pedicure world when I first came in. Wasn't sure what to expect and Jen was completely amazing very sweet and makes a great effort to get to know you! No one compares to Jen my hair and feet always feel on cloud 9 when done. She's a 5*! Receptionists though need to work on being friendlier. read more
