US Airways and United Star Alliance mileage programs cheat customers. I took a flight to Europe and back and asked US Airways to award my family's miles (45,000 miles total) to United. US Airways split our miles between US Airways and United, so now we will not be able to earn enough miles to use them to purchase airline tickets, because we don't fly very frequently as a family. US Airways has refused to fix their error, citing their policy not to do so: once they make an error, it's made. United says it will do nothing unless US Airways releases the miles. Do not join more than one Star Alliance airline miles program. They will split your miles between them so that you will lose your miles once you're unable to earn enough to fly by the expiration date for the miles. This program was marketed by Star Alliance as a seamless program between airlines. It is not. Each member airline tries to, and successfully, grabs the miles and will not release for use on another airline. read more
