Welcome to the Sunday Funday Food Review everyone! Today's show takes us to a well-known buffet in Pittston call Star Asia. Now here you can dine in and go "hog wild" or do a takeout where they will charge you by the pound. I walked in greeted in a welcoming professional manor; I like that. My first plate was some of their buffalo wings, (it was hot). some chicken and broccoli, lo mien, egg roll, and some General Tso's Chicken. The chicken was nice and soft, broccoli was just the way I enjoy eating it, as you all know I am not a vegetable fan, but I am getting better. Now for plate number two I try and get items that are a little uncommon like mashed potatoes, I tried their spare rib, steak and peppers and I did try the cubed taters. The spuds were instant, well tasted instant because with non-instant you get pieces of potato at times no matter how much they whip them. $16.50 dinner. They deliver a great variety of food and a decorative interior. The food is decent quality, but you're paying for the quantity and convenience here. Try eating healthy by going with the simple meats, vegetables, and fruits. read more

Disappointing. Never again. Shrimp smelled and tasted stale same with Sushi. Chicken teriyaki, chicken on a stick, buns, egg rolls rock hard. Servers were nice, looked clean. read more

I suppose since there aren't many options in town, this place is OK. Compared to other Chinese buffets, the food is below average. Coconut chicken was the only dish that tasted decent enough. Servers were fine, attentive and the place itself while dated seems clean. Probably not a place we would return to. read more

The food was ok. the egg rolls suck they taste like is a cremated person was put in the egg roll it's funny because there is a cremation place near the buffet. The service was quick I was taking to a seat quickly. Not enough food. read more

They don't have a big variety of food, but the little things they have don't state bad. Price is good $19.00 per person. Service is really bad in mi opinion kind of rude, I was only at my second plate and the server had brought the bill and was waiting on me to pay than when she saw i kept eating more started like staring at me so that i'll leave making me so uncomfortable. Good taste but next time i go to a buffet this will be my last option read more

I love this restaurant. I bring my husband, my brother, my grandson and his girlfriend there at least twice a month. I stop there for takeout at least twice a month. BUT, I sooo miss the cold mussels in Italian sauce and the pickled . Ohhh, how I miss them. PLEASE bring them back. You'll see me more often! I give you 41/2 stars. OK, here's the deal with this place. When they first opened, they rocked! Everything was fresh, excellent salad bar, hibachi station where you could create your own dishes, and pretty good service. Then I don't know what happened, but they've been regressing over the past several years. The last time I went, the atmosphere was like a morgue because they obviously do not want to pay for the broadcast license in order to have music in the background. Just a horrible, sterile environment where everyone can hear everyone else talking. The food seems very average lately, and they got rid of the hibachi station a while ago. The waitresses have zero personality, and not for nothing, the clientele has a lot to be desired. A lot of obese people in sweat pants loading up on cheap Chinese is quite a turnoff for me (sorry if I offended anyone). Also, Lot's of families with kids in tow creating messes and noise. But hey, to each his own and you will get filled up for $15-25 depending on the day. read more

Three and a half stars you do say.... More like three and a half galaxies! The reviews missed me like Daisy, of the Great Gatsby. The feelings that this restaurant invoked me with were a liberation of the heat that the summer day bestowed upon me. The contrast in hot and cold foods accurately reflected the bipolar emotions of humanity. Upon reading the distasteful banter that these heathens described this beautiful establishment with. The oceanic filets served upon fluffy beds of rice and nigiri evoked within me, feeling that I have not felt since the joyous days of my innocent childhood. Not even to mention the delight that the tender chicken of all sorts and flavors provided me. The wontons happened to be so extraordinarily crunchy, I felt as though I was devouring the sand of a western desert. Sadly I must warn any possible participants in the blood clot challenge; DON'T! However the serving staff was helpful and met all the needs a buffet such as this, would call for! I was delighted to be met with a plethora of helpful staff members, all with delectable demeanor and a fresh supply of chopsticks. Your typical Asian buffet with the same foods you see on most other buffets. I always eat the same thing: green beans (these weren't good--overcooked and mushy), General Tso's chicken (isn't this SUPPOSED to be spicy??!!--never had a Chinese restaurant where I actually got spicy General Tso's...), white rice, sweet and sour chicken and mushrooms. It wasn't great but it wasn't horrible either. $10 pp for lunch is pretty cheap for a buffet. They did have a lot of choices, including sushi. Server was quick to refill drinks and remove dirty plates but didn't have much of a personality until she saw we left her a good cash tip. Then "Thank you! thank you!" was the only words we heard out of her mouth our entire visit. It's whatever. We were there to stuff our faces not chat with the servers :) read more

It's really clean efficient Chinese buffet I had in few months! Staff is very efficient and it's great for veggies lovers. Salad bar has great green selection and Hibachi allows to get fresh sautéed veggies with noodles as you please. Price includes that and hot Chinese tea. Shame on an establishment that will allow a mother and her family tosit down to eat, and then demand she leave before, even finishing her meal, because of her infant making noises. If you're going to have an issue with an infant behaving like an infant, don't wait until the family has sat down and finished half their meal. Worst service I've had in a long time. We came in as a group. Was yelled at and harassed by the front cashier upon paying our bill. The cashier informed us that someone did not pay their bill in our party, However we were not responsible for them. We paid our group bill. Over $130 bucks. She then followed us outside. Continued to yell at us. Then told us to get out of here. Very unprofessional. Servers barley waited on us. We had to constantly ask for refills. Barley bused the tables in between. Poor service. Really enjoyed the lo mein, certain pieces of sushi, egg rolls, vegetables, and fried shrimp. Dumplings at buffets always have such a thick wrapping on them, and this place was no different, but the shu mai was pretty tasty. The white rice didn't taste anything like asian white rice. The tuna at the sushi bar was chewy and not palatable, but the salmon was fresh and perfectly melt-in-your-mouth. There is a guy standing there at lunch time cranking out a new roll every few minutes, swapping what he was doing and giving everyone a little taste of what they want. The food was great but my server was disrespectful to me and my family just because our server wanted more money for her tip and when some of my family members were outside while we finished eating because they payed already and my little 5 year old brother spilled a little ice-cream on the floor the server out of nowhere say "tu casa muy sucio muy sucio" me and family were upset so we stopped eating and we proceeded to leave because I wanted to be professional instead of snapping back at her I took my little brother and the rest of my family out of there immediately just to let you know she was the only person who had ruined our experience there. read more

So, I understand a buffet is a buffet is a buffet. Butttttttt I don't understand how this place has over 4 stars on google. Are Pennsylvanians just super nice? Wow this place was pretty legit!! Lots of small sushi's. Although a lot with cream cheese ( too American for me) which we don't do. But others were good. Pork Shu Mai is really good had three of those!! Nummy. Soups awesome. Try the peanut chicken. It looks like Katsu chicken.. delish! Good peanut crust. Squid n shrimp , octopus good ( at salad bar). Mussels, clams, peel n eat ( too messy tho). And lots of vegis and lots of meal meats. Fruit and salad bar and deserts oh my. read more

When we first walked in it seemed pretty crowded so it gave us a good impression already from the amount of people there were. The servers were kind and polite. The food was good it wasn't overwhelming. The fried noodles weren't really greasy and overwhelming. Though the shrimp and the fake crab were oddly sweet and didn't taste very pleasing. Everything else was fine though and tasted delicious. The soup was nice and hot and help wash down the flavors to continue eating. The buffet also had ice cream which was yet to try but the water of which the ice cream scooper was in seemed to be needed to switch out. Went here this evening and this is my new favorite buffet. Clean, spacious, and friendly staff. The food was so delicious and fresh. I haf a bad experience at a buffet this week and this place made it all better. The sushi was freshly made and they dont let it sit out too long. They have MUSSELS!!! I come here from time to time but I'm not a big fan of buffets. I'd rather have made to order Chinese food. Oh why can't I find a Chinese restaurant that serve genuine Szechuan Hot Pot. I guess that's a tall order. Regardless, as buffets go this is one of the better ones in NEPA. I usually go during lunch hour and they have plenty of everything that you would expect at a Chinese buffet. It's always hot and the place looks very clean. I LOVE this place! There has truly never been a bad dish, a cold dish, or anything negative. Every dish they either have on the buffet OR make for you is GREAT! I've eaten at many a restaurant, and many being Asian, THESE folks know how to create GREAT satisfying, delicious dishes. Better than average buffet. Best I've had in WB/S. sushi was fresh and plentiful, Nigiri was small which I like as they were each one bite. Nothing was very spicy but the had over 4 different hot sauces to spice it to you taste. Large selection in all categories. They have a nice selection of American entrees and a larger than average salad bar. They constantly cleared used plates and my water never went empty. Wow I can't believe that the lady who works at the restaurant had the audacity to treat Robby like he was not a person with feelings. Never have I felt so enraged and at the same time sad for a person I care about. "Robby wanted to go to Star Asia Buffet for over a month. We finally got a chance to go today. He was so excited! So he goes up to the buffet and starts filling his plate. And the female employee reloading the buffet pans scolded us, "He can't do by himself! He making mess!" Okay, this is pretty good for a buffet. They have a reasonable sushi table that's not all sauced or fried rolls, which is nice if you want to at least *try* to make healthy choices. Quite a lot of Ameri-Chinese options on the steam tables plus choices for the people who don't eat Chinese food. I managed to stick to sushi. Service was good. The sushi was refreshed and restocked. Worst buffet we ever went to. We felt very rushed, never once got our drink filled, the server gave us our bill and we didnt even get a plate yet, wasnt even 10 minutes. This is the one of best Asian Buffet at Pittston,PA it's located at walking distance of Pilot travel center I'm a truck driver driving over 48 states and when I had route to I-81 towards any where up states NY I stop here for the Buffet.
