as a small group we are seated comfortably and quickly.the staff are great.The selection varies sometimes pineapple,in season watermelon.Salad greens and lettuce and olives and pickles and more. soups are always the same hot and sour. clam chowder won ton and egg drop. vegetables include sweet potatoes spinach mashed and fried potatoes broccoli and chicken- beef and onions w/green and red peppers green beans. two pork selections cubed and skewered. coconut chicken. Don't eat here. The food here is a MESS. One of our party has a seafood allergy and chose sweet and sour chicken. There was fish literally mixed in. Are you kidding me!!??? So a lot of the dishes had other things mixed in. The waitress was so rude no kidding. She didn't want to hear about it. She was like that's how we do it. The fish and chicken are in the same pan! If you have any allergies this restaurant does not give a crap. We were the only people in there on a Friday so that's a sign. The person in our party got really sick that night. Stopped for lunch on the way to the VA. We noticed it as we were going to go to Denny's. The selection was pretty good, and the staff kept tending the items, so at least we knew things were fresh. They had some clams in a sauce that was really good, along with the standards, sweet & sour chicken, pot stickers, and fried rice. They also have a sushi section, which my husband enjoyed. Instead of bottled soy sauce, they have packets like you get in take out, which was a bit odd. I liked the hot & sour soup. It was very good, and I also enjoyed the Rangoon's and stuffed clams, though they used imitation crab in the stuffing. Over all, a very good place to enjoy some standard Chinese American cuisine. read more

Star Asia is a new Chinese Buffet in the Strip center that went up next to Walmart. It's a larger buffet with plenty of options. They have all of the expected Chinese food items as well as a small sushi bar. There are also several American options (fried chicken, mashed potatoes, french fries, etc) which may be helpful if you're bringing kids. Fianlly they had a large number of desert options. I stuck to the Chinese food all of which was decent. I also had some of the sushi which was fine. In conclusion, its a large buffet, with decent food for an inexepensive price. read more

My significant other arrived in Wilkes- Barre area a couple days before me and was super excited to take us to Star Asia when we arrived. He deemed the food delicious enough for me and plentiful for the teenager (who eats like the world is ending). To be honest, I am not sure I was expecting much from this buffet in this tiny area in the Walmart shopping center. Well, I gladly eat my words, because this place is great. There is a nice mix of Chinese and American food, plus a hibachi and sushi (which to be honest, I never feel comfortable to eat raw fish at buffets, so I only eat vegetarian rolls). The staff is super efficient and on top of things. In fact, it was so good, that we returned the next night, because at $10.95, you can't beat that deal. read more

My husband drives a truck and ran the NE last winter. I was on the truck during this time and we always did a reset here in Pittston and had dinner at this restaurant on the weekends... I miss it so much! So much variety and the food is delicious!! Pricey but worth it! read more

Very disappointed. Showed up around 8pm on a Friday night when they close at 11pm. WHOLE Staff standing around staring at families while they eat making it very uncomfortable. No food out, only a few scoops of things. Waited a while to see if more food would be brought out- nothing. Heard a waitress complain about a family not leaving a tip- unprofessional to talk about it in front of other customers. I would have gave this restaurant a half of a star if I could have. It is probably the worst Chinese restaurant I have ever eaten in! The food on the buffet was cold. I would recommend that the serving staff keep a better record of the food's temperatures before someone gets sick from it. The food was also very bland. I've always had Chinese food that was well seasoned unfortunately that was not the case here. I paid $25 for two adult buffets. I left the restaurant feeling as hungry as I did when I came in because of the quality of the food. The restaurant did have a pleasant atmosphere. The waitress and the cashier were very courteous. I wanted to wait until I made a return trip to post my review of the Star Asia Buffet near the Pittston Wal-Mart on Route 315. Initially, I visited on the opening weekend which resulted in some less than stellar service, food quality and crowds. Upon my return, things were MUCH better. The food was hot, there was a wide selection and the servers were prompt and courteous. I'll certainly be returning to this one. read more

Lots of choices and loved the hibachi grill where I can choose exactly what goes into my meal , even the type of sauce!!! Usually they all use the same teriyaki type but this place had a nice selection of sauces to mix in.. Lots of choices in the food bar and everything was hot and tasty. Nothing gourmet, but what chinese buffet ever is. And CHEAP!!!!! So if you keep your expectations in check for an all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet, I think you will be quite surprised!!!! read more

Seating(floor) area is filthy. Benches are taped together with duct tape. Food area is clean(plates, forks, spoons, etc). The items offered are hit and miss. Lo mein, very good, great flavor. Honey chicken, same thing, tastes great. General tso's, don't waste your time, it's nasty. That's being kind. They do offer a lot of options, salads, sushi(fresh made), veggies, clams, mussels. I'm not picky at the buffet, I'll try it all. the only reason I'm giving three stars is due to the seating area. I have a huge ocd issue about the area around me being clean where I'm eating. Good buffet Chinese food. Friendly staff. Had a little of this and that. I don't have any complaints. They even have little cups for dipping sauces. There is a Mongolian BBQ the soup was good also. The restaurant was clean and there were many food choices in the buffet; I would argue too many. There were many foods that were not Asian. Would much prefer a Chinese buffet that only serves Chinese food...does this exist? I found a number of the Chinese choices to be bland, particularly the wonton soup and steamed dumplings. These are the two dishes that I crave and I was disappointed. Would prefer less quantity and improved quality of foods people go to Chinese restaurants for....I also felt very rushed with the hostess watching over our party of 5, seemingly waiting for us to leave, even presenting us with the bill before dessert. read more

It's a typical buffet, the food is pretty good, but not the best. Just like every buffet I've ever been to the dessert is absolutely horrible (what is with that?!) They are always busy and the prices are reasonable for a buffet of this size. We went yesterday after about already having been there ten times and loving it. We walked in with five people and a man with a dirty sweatshirt told us we would have to wait. We saw many open booths. Two parties arriving after us were seated. My eight year old son walked over to the man and asked politely if we could have a booth to sit down and he rudely replied "NO" and walked away. We got here as soon as it opened at 11:00. The food was fresh and the service was quick. Every time I looked my drink was refilled. I am a big sushi eater and I thought it was delicious. So, new Walmart, new China buffet to accompany it. I went here upon its opening last year and have been there several times since with friends and its okay. Nice selection of Chinese food (despite the word Asia in the title) however the food is not always hot. Sometimes the food is lukewarm/cold. Also, as in EVERY Chinese buffet, the waiters are on your back to leave so they can collect their tips. This is pretty rude. I tend to stay with the Chinese restaurants where you order your food and its made right there. read more
