Y'all I know it sounds corny but the lighting, the amount of lighting, and outlets, and storage and space saving accommodations (no closet but cool industrial looking hanger thingees), the new soap/lotion dispensers, the huge bathroom ... they thought of EVERYTHING and I am happy to say I experienced it. The hotel itself is CLEAN and bright and modern; both desk clerks were efficient AND FRIENDLY, the complimentary breakfast was standard buttttt they had a new fangled pancake maker which totally entertained me for way too long than I'd care to admit. Did I mention the lounge/common area was also CLEAN and bright and modern? Check out my pics. The balcony view wasn't particularly worthwhile, but the room itself delivered. The chief sources of frustration for me were a parking lot with scary big potholes and wifi that didn't work consistently. I felt that in this price range, it's reasonable to expect better. I could live with the other limitations of a historic building, and I'd much rather they spend money cooling and furnishing the rooms than the hallways so we're on the same page there. But although I didn't have such plans on this visit, I often telework at hotels and the connection fritzing out on me is a significant issue, as is the threat of the parking lot to my tires. Additionally, when I went out to search for breakfast, I left the "do not disturb" sign on my door only to return and find the door wide open. No one was in there, they were just cleaning other rooms in the hallway. This was an hour before checkout. What was that about? I liked being close to everything in this town and it's not that I wouldn't consider staying again under the right circumstances. I've given them some clear things that could have been better.

I come here after I watch my son's football games. It is an exceptionally lovely hotel. The building itself is beautiful and well-kept. Even when it's dreary outside, it's sunny inside. The staff here is welcoming, so much so that they are almost like family. The hotel location is extremely convenient, the area is quiet and safe. Even my dog is comfortable here, lol. At ~150 a night, it's very reasonably priced, and the experience is far more friendly than your typical motel experience. The bathroom was stocked with all sorts of goodies one may need, and there was a FREE snack bar in the room! They have early check in and late checkout available for a very reasonable fee, and a log book full of all sorts of recs for activities/restaurants in the area. I would not recommend Prospect Hill Inn as a wedding venue…read more My daughter chose this venue because we were repeatedly told that if we communicated our wishes ahead of time, everything would be handled and we could simply relax and enjoy the wedding day. Unfortunately, our experience was the exact opposite. Upon arrival, we had to carry all of our belongings and wedding items down paths to the cabins ourselves. Although golf carts were available on the property, no assistance was offered. Prior to the wedding, we provided decorations and special charms that were to be attached to my daughter's bouquet in memory of grandparents who had passed away. We were assured that everything would be taken care of. On the morning of the wedding, we were asked when the bouquet was needed and stated 4:00 p.m. for pictures. By 4:15 p.m., we had received no communication. Multiple texts to the owner went unanswered. When I finally reached her by phone, she was not even on the property and said she would not be back for another 30 minutes. The wedding was scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. I ended up locating the bouquet myself. The memorial charms had not been attached, and no one knew where they were. At 5:00 p.m., the owner still had not arrived, and no staff member seemed to know what was happening or what needed to be done. Our family was left coordinating the wedding ourselves. The ceremony was delayed until 5:30 p.m., which affected photography since the photographer was only contracted for a limited amount of time. To make matters worse, when it was time for the couple's first dance, the owner told my daughter that she knew nothing about it, despite it being included in the contract and paid for as part of the package. We were then rushed through photos because dinner was scheduled for 7:00 p.m., even though many of the delays stemmed from the lack of coordination earlier in the day. The owner also interrupted the couple's send-off over a pen issue that could have been handled later. The problems continued throughout our stay. The air conditioning in our cabin failed on the final night, leaving us in uncomfortable temperatures above 80 degrees. When we politely shared our concerns before leaving, hoping for an explanation or apology, none was offered. Instead, responsibility was shifted back onto us. We were also owed a credit on our account. Initially, we were told it could not be refunded because the original card used for booking had been closed. After considerable discussion, a cash refund was finally offered. However, when my daughter picked it up, it was $21 short. We were told this was for breakfast-in-bed delivery for the newlyweds, despite previously being told that this was included in the wedding package. Perhaps most disappointing of all, when the newlyweds checked out, the owner would not speak with them. This was a weekend that should have been focused on celebrating my daughter's wedding. Instead, we spent much of it dealing with issues that we had specifically been assured would be handled by the venue. We left feeling disappointed, stressed, and unsupported.

There are even old fashioned keyholes in the door! Hercule Poirot, here I come! The leaves are falling because, well, it's fall, duh. Silly me. I'm a bit cold but not terribly so. A parking fee was not disclosed during the reservation process nor disclosed to me when I checked in. Nowhere is it disclosed the hotel charges a parking fee. This is disrespectful. Upon check out the desk clerk could not print my receipt. No problem I asked the clerk to email me a receipt. 10 hours later I still don't have a receipt. I called the hotel. It took seven times to call before someone answered the phone (30 minutes of time) I was told I would be getting an emailed receipt. 3 hours later and I still don't have a receipt and no one will answer the phone at the hotel. I am disappointed in IHG. They would not resolve the issue. I'm disappointed in the staff. I'm disappointed in the ownership of this hotel. I stay in IHG hotels about 150 nights a year and I'm considering leaving IHG as a member because of my experience at the Holiday Inn express in Farmville Don't stay at this hotel stay at the Hampton Inn next door

The sheets caused some skin irritation, and I wish all hotels used the most hypoallergenic detergent available. From a service perspective, it was quite good. I was offered an early checkin and also took a late checkout, so I got a ton of time with the room. They also stored my luggage, including various baked goods, after I was done. So I got a lot of value out of the room. The question to me was how this hotel would compare to the others that are in downtown Charlottesville; would the experience be worth a bit more than the more standard Marriotts or various others. I was not convinced that it would be worth spending the extra money on.
