HORRIBLE ATTITUDE. Terrible customer service. Does NOT value paying customers. The owner, Jessie, is super disrespectful. While she was doing my nails TWO separate customers approached her with a complaint about their service (one was an elderly woman who she completely dismissed and sent away!!) Within 24 hours of her doing my nails, the gel overlay on my real nails chipped on TWO of my nails. She charged me $8 per nail to fix it plus a $2 service charge for paying with a cc. She blamed me but clearly her gel is either old or applied incorrectly as my polish rarely chips. Will NEVER support this business again. The shop was empty so I'm sure many feel the same. read more

Do not go here. Seriously, just don't. Wish I could give zero stars. I went here because I was in a pinch and needed somewhere close while I was in town for the holidays. I got a gel manicure and a regular pedicure. First of all, I GOT AN INFECTION IN MY TOE FROM THE PEDICURE. They don't use a liner in the tub (I should've known then and left). The tools they used did come out of a sealed package, so who knows how many other people they used them on and if they were cleaned properly. As for the manicure, which seems unimportant in comparison, it's been a week and three nails have already chipped. I can usually make my gel manicures last at least two weeks. Seriously, please don't go here. There are other nails salon around, pay a little more and don't get a toe infection and probably have to go the hospital. read more

I had the worse experience. My eyebrows are uneven, she removed part of my arch (huge gap). My eyebrows were not cleaned up. The Spa massage, it was a waste of $60. Then they told me to dry my nails before putting on top coat. There's a reason why this place is so busy and its not the location. Sure it helps to be in trolley square,its prime property. But its really the skill of the men and ladies that work there. They make sure everyone is happy and treated in a kind friendly manner. As we know, at some nail places,the differences in language or culture can be a barrier to a comfortable experience. Not this group! Their welcoming attitude and sense of humor puts people at ease. The staff are also skilled beyond what I've paid 3times as much for at other salons. Seriously! I haven't had a pedicure in years but my tech was really nice and she did a great job. Had to wait 15-20 minutes but it was a Friday morning after a holiday so I expected it and they checked on me through my wait. They also except card tips- really like that because I didn't have stop to get cash. I'll be coming back here for sure. **update** Second time here and went back right away. I can't really speak to the manicure skills of this place, but the owner or an employee has the foul habit of smoking outside of the side/Clayton Street exit door and leaves their cigarette butts scattered all over the area. I picked up literally hundreds of them this morning during a community clean up. It's gross, it's unsanitary, and it's a perfect example of how plastics enter our waterways. Needs some aesthetic updates... they use cheap products, I can tell be I lost 2 nails within 2 days... in my opinion they charge more than what they should, then try to sale u a name kit so that you get 10% off future services....smh, I can bring my own. I used to love Stair nail salon until they start "half-assing" the services I would get like nails with tips and eyebrows. Today in particular I specifically told the person doing my eyebrows to not wax a certain area and as soon as she got started she put wax in the very place I asked her repeatedly not to. I was treated so badly in this nail salon. I think it was the owner herself who took care of me, so there was really no excuse for such lack of ability! I was given a gel manicure, and my nails had been ruined by the removal of the previous gel manicure I had gotten at this very salon. When I complained about the result of the manicure (the damage showed through the polish) I was told that most people didn't mind such a result and that I was overly critical. Referred here from the hotel concierge, I had a great experience. It was busy but they were efficiently moving everyone through without rushing your service. Great selection of polishes, comfy massage chairs and an up to date selection of magazines. Pedicure was thorough and gentle through the poking and scrubbing portion, and a good length leg massage before the polish application. You can see all their sterilizing 'ovens' and it was comforting to see them take out brand new packages to bring to my station. Overall, a great experience in Wilmington! read more

I highly recommend Tulip Nails on 202, they are friendly and do an excellent job. :)** I had been going to this location since the fall. I was looking for a nail salon closer to home. I was becoming a regular, making appointments every week and a half or so. My experience at this salon on Friday was a major turn off and I will not be returning. I made an appointment and was given the male manicurist to do my fill-in. He was very friendly but also appeared to be rushing. Which was annoying since I made an appointment. Anyway, he finished my SNS fill and dropped some type of greasy product on my nails. (This had never been done during prior appts and I did not know what it was) he informed me that it was Quick Dry. Well....he drenched it on and it made a complete mess under the hand dryer. Not to mention after sitting under for 10 min I noticed it left circular indentations on three of my nails. I asked him to take a look and fix-it please to which he responsed, "you chose the wrong color, that was not a good polish to choose it's too thick!!" Really? You couldnt tell me something was wrong with it BEFORE applying the polish. I was very annoyed at this point but returned to the dryer for 10 additional minutes. As I was leaving he did not say good-bye to me as is the norm at the salon when customers leave. Only after returning home after paying $35 did I notice he filed my nails in a diagonal manner, and he did not paint my entire nail (the sides of one of my nails even still showed the red polish I had on prior). I got a horrible staph infection from a pedicure at this salon. When I went in to cancel my appointment and tell them about it they acted as though they had no idea what a staph infection is. If that is the case then that is extremely concerning as they clearly don't follow any sort of sanitation regulations. They showed absolutely no remorse and did not apologize. I had an awful experience here with the nail tech who sits by the door with blonde hair. It's like if you're not a white woman you will not get good and professional service. It seems as though a lot of Asian nail salons are very disrespectful to minorities and I'm tired of it! I take pride in how I look and my nails play a major part in it!! Star nails needs to learn how to speak to their clients and refrain from speaking loudly and rudely to their customers! I will never go back there again and I would NOT refer anyone to that place. I guess if you're a white woman you may have a better experience than I did so have at it!! I had 3 broken nails in less than a week and i was told that it was my fault cause my nails were too long!! My preference is to wear my nails long not to walk around with nubs!!! Work on your professionalism and if all you cater to are white women then put a sign on the door asking minorities to stay away and we will do just that !!! Tim and Andy have done a great job on my nasty nails and have always made them look great even tho I am a biter. They are also so entertaining! I went to Star Nail Salon for the first and last time yesterday. I went in and asked for SNS nail dipping manicure. I needed to soak my old SNS manicure off. The produced was soaked off and then Jessica started working on my nails. I had asked for a French manicure and she did the pink color first. I asked her about the white tip and she said she was going to do it with gel polish. I never asked for gel polish but she had already put the top coat on for SNS. Jessica did the white gel on my nails. I went to check out and she told me my total was $55.00. The SNS manicure was listed as $35.00 and they charge $5.00 to soak off the prior manicure -which most salons do as part of their service. Jessica charged me $15.00 for something she NEVER asked me if I wanted. I called and talked to the man that answered the phone today and he told me that SNS does not make a white powder, which is a lie. They do and I had it used at other salons. i have had a terrible infection for over a month after having gel nails for about 3 months. When it 1st started i didn't know what was happening so i told him not to fill the affected nail this time. He said "thats not fungus" He must have known then and there I had a problem. after that visit, my hands itched so much I wanted to tear the skin off. I went back and showed one of the ladies, she said soak it in peroxide because I have an allergic reaction. I ended up going to walk-in-medical care and was given a steroid to apply 2x day. No improvement. it is now worse. i am trying to get the nails off little by little without having to go back and have them do it! I am making an appt. with a dermatologist. to see what else can be done. The skin on my thumbs around the side of the nails won't stop splitting and bleeding and the nail bed is exposed.
