I have been going to Star nails ever since they were located across the street where they at now and they parents have it it was nothing like it was now even when they moved across the street where they are now and the parents get it it wasn't like that but now it seems like they not cleaning you cancels they pick who nails they wanted to do they just sit up and look at you and I went and got a pedicure like three weeks ago but I know just the last time I went and got a pedicure too was more itching with my foot so this time I was able to go to the doctor and I was had athlete foot which is horrible because I seen the woman that was doing my toes just go in her dress and pull out the utensils and work on my foot but I never did think about it though because normally they pull it out of the sanitizer if it's clean but no they keep that stuff in that drawer and they work on it they need to start cleaning them you utensils that they work on the toes wish and I'm just so surprised because the parents never ever treated you like this they made you want to come back these young people that's up in there now don't care please be careful when you get a pedicure there because I'm not going back anymore read more

hello. I just wanted to come on here and say I went to star nails on Saturday 2-1-2025 for a pedicure by KIM and she was very rude about everything. she barely knew what she was doing! BEFORE I even sat in the chair I showed her a picture of the des I wanted and asked if she was able to do it she said yes. as she's doing the design I noticed she wasn't doing what I asked her so I showed her the picture and said this is what it's supposed to be and everytime I said something about it she would act slow or confused and ask different questions to avoid what I asked like she didn't know! her fellow co workers had to intervene in the conversation.. they were asking me what I wanted like I didn't say it more than 5 times and before I sat in the chair! They even told her the same thing I've been saying and she still didn't do it and was rude about it! I have frequented this salon for a few years now. At my recent visit, the technician I normally book was not available. The man who did my gel manicure was new to me. Rather than remove my old polish with a foil wrap and saturated cotton ball, he emerged my hand in a bowl of acetone. He began grinding away at my nails with the electric nail drill while alternating my hands in the bowl of remover; my nail beds were starting to feel sensitive. The end product looks fine, but my previously strong nails are thin and bendy, and strangely sharp on the tips. You can't help but notice how sloppy the salon is becoming. Bottles of previously used polish clutter the stations, as well as plastic water bottles left behind by customers. Shuffling through the manicure tool drawer for instruments tells me they're no longer being sanitized between customers. Going downhill fast and I'm so disappointed! read more

I was trying to explain to him that I didn't want just one color. I was trying to show him my design. He didn't seem interested in really looking. He put the fake nails on and chopped them very short before he asked me ANYTHING about length or shape. Even tho in the photos of the nails I wanted they were a medium length rounded point. Did someone say best pedicure ever? Yep. Sarah gave me a $45 dollar hour long pedicure. That was even before polish. Also wine. With the $35 or $45 pedicure. Now the Firewalker pedi included some sort of powder that transforms the water to jelly, which they give a thorough massage, hot stone with oil rub down and mask for your legs and feet. Pure heaven. Well, I usually have a good experience here but not today! I had an appointment for a pedicure and to get a full set of nails. The lady at the counter acted like I didn't have an appointment and I showed her my confirmation from my text and email. She told me to pick out a color which I did and told me what chair to sit in. They were going to do my full set at the pedicure station as well which is fine. When she asked what color I wanted and I told her black she made some snarky comment to the other girl in her native language. The girl that did my full set was rude in my opinion. She filed my right index finger so hard it is now raw and red. She didn't paint my nails correctly, there are spots on the sides of my nails that have no color, some spots where you can actually see the tip of the nail and other spots there are marks and indentions like there are filings on my nail that she painted over. I tipped them both and however, their system works the one girl got more than the girl that did my full set so I said that they both got XXXX amount each like I always tip and she said No we won't she got more than me! Really, I just spent over $120 on nails and you are complaining about your tip. Oh, and they were offering 20% off with two services and she kept saying I gave you 20% off you have to do a google review. No girl, I don't, the promo said for two services which I did and the person that normally did my nails said I get 20% off and no review needs but yet here we are. I have no control over your system, but this is the worst experience I have had here. Been going here since I was 13 years old. Suny and the rest of the nail techs are amazing and do a great job. They have a variety of colors, both in gel and regular paint. They can do pretty much any design, show them any picture or pintrest post and they can make it happen. Suny is always my nail tech and you can tell he takes his time from the shaping to the painting. I have never had an issue with any of my nails. You can get water or soda or for an upcharge get wine with your manicure or pedicure. They are becoming extremely popular so make sure to get there early but definitely worth the wait. read more

I had been going to this place for a while. They started off real nice. I always noticed the difference in the blacks vs. the whites, but they did good work back then. They do not try to interact with the blacks like the whites. I have had 3 incidents in this place. With all the poor ratings even from the whites you know it is time to move on. I will not be back. I popped in for the first time yesterday for a gel manicure and pedicure. My first impression was that this place seems very clean. I work at a salon (as a hairstylist) so when I go to shops like this I'm always hyper-aware of state board sanitation guide lines. The dry sanitization cabinets are in plain view of the pedi area and I was comforted being able to watch my tech remove her implements from it and walk them directly to me. The floors and pedi tub looks clean and there was no strong nail-stuff odors. I bumped a star off because a drill tool was used to buff the top of my toenails during the pedicure. Those drill bits are hard to sanitize without an autoclave and should generally only be used on top of an artificial nail. There were a couple extra things that added to my experience that not all of your quicky nail shops offer. I was given a bottle of water after I was seated for my pedicure, fresh sliced lemons were used throughout the service, and got towels were used to removed product from my feel, always a nice touch. This place is every bit the same price as a regular nail shop (manis start at $15 and pedis at $20, though my gel mani and "special" pedi were $20 and $25, respectively) but those little touches and the cleanly atmosphere definitely add value. Long story short, this place is clean, friendly, they have small value-adding details and are very affordable. I would recommend this place to anyone needing a quick nail shop in south city and I personally will be back. read more

I come into town to visit family often, and my mom told me that the small nail place from across the street had moved into the old 7-11 building, so I suggested we go in and get manicures. I got a gel mani and pedi and my mom got a gel mani. Our manicures are great! Clean, shiny, neat, cuticles look great. Mine pealed only on my left thumbs after blowdrying my hair three times, which doesn't shock me. The rest have stayed put. It's been two weeks and they are just now showing a bit of pealing. This is probably the best pedi I've ever gotten. The polish has stayed put for 2 weeks despite the fact that I am constantly changing from tennis shoes to high heals, the stripper boots (yeah I wear them, so?) to barefoot. I even have cute little flowers on my big toe nails. Great services, extremely good prices, very friendly, clean, knowledgeable staff. I'm definitely coming back! read more

I'd like to give a 3.5 because this is my favorite place to go for pedicures. However it's never a quick trip. Maybe I go at the wrong time, but there is always a long wait, it drives me nuts but I keep coming back for more. I love the deluxe pedi, it's $40 and comes with a glass of wine. Maybe it's just the wine that brings me back or maybe because I know it will take forever and it's a good excuse to get some quality candy crush time. Worst mani/pedi ever. I was escorted to the pedicure station pretty quickly, but left to wait in cold water for about 10 minutes. When my lady finally showed up, she kept stopping my pedicure to talk to the other workers. I'm all for workplace communication, but scrub and chat at the same time please. I was thisclose to telling to her to kindly stop gabbing and finish my &*#$% pedicure! After that you wouldn't think I'd stick around for the manicure, but 30 minutes later there I was soaking my fingers to prunes while she cleaned up the pedicure station. I took my hands out of the soak because they were shriveled and red, but the lady stuck them back in. At least this water was relatively warm. She proceeded to cut my cuticles til they literally bled and then started picking at other skin. The area under my nails is still raw and scabbed. The whole experience cost me 1.5 hours and $50.
