Tried this salon for the first time on Wednesday. Got a gel mani/pedi. It was evening and not busy. The staff is friendly but kind of pushy. The chairs are old. Was disappointed the water was cool on my feet and that they didn't offer a leg/foot scrub. The prices are ok, but it was $50 for the gel mani/pedi. The mani/pedi was done well. Their basic services are very cheap. I go to a salon to be pampered and like warm water on my feet, so I will probably not return. read more

They don't have bulk products like typical spas. Each client gets a little packet of scrub, mud mask, lotion, etc. for their deluxe pedicures. It certainly produces a lot more waste. After every packet Nina ripped open, she tossed the trash into my pedicure bowl. Getting your legs papercut by floating packets is definitely not super relaxing. I understand it might be easier for staff than getting up and finding a trash can, but for the client experience -- it's just awkward. The gel manicure was so-so. The armrest was dirty (covered in nail dust) and the precision upon application simply wasn't there. She did not shape my nails, and I had to ask for her to file them again once she applied color. The tips were still rough. Overall, it wasn't a horrible experience. Nina was very friendly and accommodating whenever I voiced my concerns. Went the weekend prior for a pedicure which was nice. I did find access polish on the skin around the toes but figured o well no one will see it. Went back for a fill with gel polish Waited 40minutes and showed the nail tech a photo of what I wanted, nude with gold French tip. Walked out with clear and sparkly orange tip. The tip was uneven and you could see all the previous fills on the nails because he just used clear. I had to drive down the street and have the gel taken off and redone. I really liked this nail shop the first time I went but the second and third time I came to get my nails done I experienced poor quality work and terrible customer service. The second time I visited this shop, I wrote my name on the sign in sheet which did not matter because they did not follow the order and several people went ahead of me. Finally got into the chair and my nail technician proceeds to take a woman who just walks in the door, complains about the shape of her nail, so the technician makes me wait while she files the lady's nail. After all that my nails were horrible done and rushed. The acrylic was past my cuticles and I even at to have her redo the paint because it was so sloppy! Then I go to pay and she hassles me about using a debit card, kept saying "you don't have any cash?!" Third time I went, I get there at 7:10pm, all I needed was a fill-in and they would not take me because they close at 8pm. There was no one waiting and basically the whole staff was just lounging. I'm very surprised by these negative reviews! Aside from the extremely long wait I had, the service and treatment were fantastic! I requested a shellac manicure & pedicure for my best friend's wedding this weekend. They did an amazing job - no fungus reactions or post infections as other reviewers mentioned. I even waited a few days before writing this review just to ensure I didn't jinxs myself. Haha. Overall great place, excellent work and definitely recommend! Best Nail Spa ever! I have been going to Star for 15+ years. At least one of the owners are present everyday. Several of their employees have been with them for 10+ years. They are very clean and sanitary. Prices are the best in town. All of the ladies are great at what they do, and it's important to them you are satisfied with service provided. I have a favorite, and if it wasn't so hard to get in to see her I would share her name. :) They have a new menu of services, they have all the latest Gel colors, mood colors and more. They also apply lashes; strip and individual. I have not done lashes yet, but I have been considering the individual. Lena really has a steady hand and they don't look fake. My first and last experience here was awful. I called prior in the day and asked if I could make an appointment. All I understood was "you walk in". So, I had to wait 40 mins to get a mani/pedi. I sat in the pedicure chair and the lady turned on the water and walked away. It overflowed all over my purse and shoes that were on the floor. My "gel" no chip nail polish that was recommended chipped within the first 24 hours! The nightmare of this place cost me $50! I walked in and 6:00pm and they finished at 8:30. Star nail although very updated and modern is understaffed. They don't care if you leave or stay. They don't communicate with you when you sign in. Last week before we gave up and left we watched 6 other customers leave before us and not one word from the owner or any of his limited staff. I guess they don't need the business. We went down the road to JC Nail. Unlike Star Nail we were immediately welcomed and acknowledged. We were immediately waited on. They are much better staffed and actually seem happy to see customers. I've frequented this business for years. It's consistently clean, well-maintained, and the owners are always present. They have great hours too; and seem to be perpetually open. Services are typical of most nail salons: manis, pedis, and waxing. All very moderately priced for us misers. You can request a certain technician when signing in or call ahead for an appt. My last visit in I walked in 10min before they closed (unknown to me because it says they close at 9pm online, which is a lie its 8) and they let me get my pedicure and it was probably one of the best pedis of my life. I have patronized this nail salon for years, however, the mani/pedi I got last Monday was the last. There were notenough technicians so I waited almost an hour. During my manicure the technician got into a vocal fight with another technician. She slammed tools etc on the counter, breaking one tool box and ended up leaving me stranded without the manicure being completed. I went to the bathroom where there was no trash can. I told the owner and he said he knew and then made some excuse I could not understand. When I got back to the station where I had been the technician was at the check out counter with my shoes. Got a gel manicure and my Polish chipped on two nails (noticeably) 4 hours later. Went back the next day to get them fixed and they chipped again along with 3 others a few hours later. 1 week into my manicure and 7 out of 10 nails are chipped and/or broken. Decent prices. The first time I went here and got a full set. They did an ok job but my nails were a little too short and the lengths weren't even. Some were extremely short and some were a little longer. I came back to get a fill and give them another chance. they made my nails so thick I'm going to have to get them redone somewhere. None of them are the same length at all. They are all bubbly. I guess she put too many top coats of gel and it looked disgusting so she had to redo them. They still looked bad and there's large bubbles on the ends of half of my nails Bc she didn't fill them evenly. This is 2 seconds away from my house and I won't be returning. read more

The wait time here is ridiculous & the staff are not organized at all during slow or busy times. I waited for more than an hour for a mani/pedi and three women who came in after me for just pedis were ushered to the first available open seats while I stayed waiting. I'll start on the positive side. This place gives great pedicures and the prices are good. However, The quality of the nails is hit and miss depending on the technician you get. There is ALWAYS a long wait even with appointment. Although, they only take appointments Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. There's one lady that does eyelash extensions but the quality, again, is hit and miss. I've had lashes stay on for four weeks and I've lost all of them over night. If you come here expect to wait for a long time. I was told it was gonna be a 10-15 minute wait, nope it wasn't. Other people walked in while we waited like others and some lady walked in asking a few simple questions and the lady in the front was obviously annoyed with her so she rolled her eyes at her, bad business! I ended up waiting an HOUR instead of 15 minutes but I really needed to get them done before I left so I waited and waited. I was getting acrylics and a pedicure and I was also getting my daughter acrylics and a pedicure. They took her to get her pedi done while I was getting my nails done, I actually wanted to be able to watch her while I was getting my nails done but she was behind me so I couldn't see her. I told him I wanted a round shape (I usually get square or stiletto shape) my nails were so messed up. He couldn't get the round shape. Each nail was filed slimmer and you could really tell so he had to redo my nail which took even more time, I was getting really annoyed. Nobody working is friendly, I wasn't talked to or anything. Then my daughter was getting her nails done while I was still getting my nails done and her pedi was already done, the other guy finished her nails before mine!!! Then he told her to go to the front to dry her nails and I finally got my pedicure. We were there for almost 3 hours! This nail salon is so unorganized and unprofessional. They don't know how to read the names off the sign in list, they take people in who just walked in and leave the others still waiting who have been waiting for a while. They don't have any appointments according to the man. The floors are dirty, the bathroom is disgusting. I honestly don't think the salon is very sanitary. Now, days later my polish has chipped, my daughters acrylic has cracked completely and my toe is infected (I've NEVER had a infection from a nail salon) it hurts so bad. I will not be back. I have to keep my nails short for work, so no manicures for me. But they do a great pedicure and don't try to hard-sell you any other services. From what I've seen, they do good facial waxing, too. Went in to get coffin shaped nails and left with short stubby nails. The original tech I had assured me that he was familiar with the shape I wanted and could deliver, but after he began to file my nails narrow beyond recovery, I stopped him. Once I told him that he was not giving me what I asked for or what was in the picture I showed him, he stopped. He stopped, said nothing, and simple pointed to another station where he was apparently directing me to go. Another tech came over to clean up the mess but bc my nails were so terrible, he had to reshape them into something presentable but NOTHING like I wanted.
