They don't do the job right the first time. They left a hole in my roof decking, which they did have the roofers come back out and fixed it.

It's Simple as the name suggests…read more Nothing fancy or elaborate about this place. It's a small restaurant with a small open kitchen and a small dining room where you stand in line to place your order, get a number to put on your table, and servers bring the food to your table when it's ready. So, if you're looking for a large upscale, elegant restaurant with elaborate food presentations, this is not the place for you. But if you're looking for a simple, quick and delicious meal, Simple Joe Café is for you. The menu consists of a wide variety of breakfast favorites, but the menu is not intimidating and easy to read and order from. Simple enough. When my family and I arrived, the small dining room was packed with a few open tables and about six other customers in line waiting to place their order. On Saturday and Sunday, you cannot sit at the open tables or hold the tables until you have placed your order and given a tent number. At that point, the servers will help you find a table to accommodate your party. The employees do a very good job of clearing and turning over the tables to make sure everyone is seated and able to enjoy their meal in a timely manner. I am not a fan of breakfast food and normally don't eat breakfast, so I only had coffee while my family enjoyed their meal, so the food quality part of this review is based on what they described as they were eating. They each ordered Joe's Number One Breakfast Combos which came with two eggs, choice of meat and pancakes and they shared an order of hashbrown and a side of grits. The food came out quickly. They stated everything was fresh, prepared and cooked as requested, the food tasted very good and enjoyed every bite. Of course, the coffee was hot, and fresh and the service was fast and friendly. The relaxed ambience and decor add to the unique character of the restaurant. Date of Visit: Saturday 05-16-26 Simple Joe Café | 3057 Government St, Baton Rouge, LA

This place is awesome…read more I ended up here the other day not because I planned ahead. Instead, I was trying to meet a friend for lunch and he was so late that we couldn't get in where were trying to go. I saw the sign and off we went to Simple Joe Cafe. Simple, it is. Awesome food, it also is. This place is not fancy nor is it meant to be. This is a solidly Americana type menu and ordering at the counter, serving your own coffee, and picking your own table kind of place. AKA - the kind of place I love. I have been here a few times now and only had breakfast. Hint: they serve it all day. The two meat omelet is a great choice and has been my go-to. The other day some friends got burgers and a club sandwich and those looked great too. This will definitely be in the rotation for lunch.

They don't miss. I…read morecan't lie, at this point, almost every time I come back home, I have to stop at District Donuts Sliders & Brew. Lupe Fiasco said hip-hop changed his life... I'm not saying District Donuts did the same for me but I'm also not not saying that. This was only my second time here, but I already knew what I was coming back for: that almighty hot chicken & honey butter biscuit. If you don't know, it's a French toast-style biscuit with a 'hot' fried chicken breast and honey butter. Yeah... it's as crazy as it sounds. And yes it lives up to it. I'll admit--it was a little big-back of me to try to take that down solo, so I shared it.... This time We also tried a salmon kolache (really solid), and I grabbed a ramen kolache to go. Creative menu, that actually works, nothing feels like a gimmick, like it has become at Crumbl Cookies [yea they caught a stray] The space itself is clean, well-designed, and the staff was friendly and extremely helpful. They were even training a new hire while keeping everything moving smoothly, which says a lot. I enjoyed this place so much I ended up buying a shirt and a bag of $20 coffee. I never do that, but I needed to take something with me that I couldn't eat, just to represent some good food and my hometown. Some of the best breakfast-style food in the city, easily. This place earns its 5/5 every time. Also officially added to my "EAT NOLA" playlist.

The donuts are some of the worst I have ever had. I paid $17 for 5 donuts, took one bite of each…read moreand my wife did the same and even my 8 year old didn't like them (other than the glazed). So we ended up throwing 80% of them out. Seriously the second worst donuts I've ever had (the other was a place called 5 sisters). The burger was a lot of flavors - not always in a good way...it was just like taking 17 things and smashing them together in a burger and the burger itself was MASSIVELY overcooked...it was 5 minutes past any pink left and just short of a hockey puck. The chicken sandwich was fine, again...lots of flavors, but not any consistent flavor in a way that made sense or was really good just more different flavors. The waffle fries with cheese were deconstructed and there was some bbq sauce that I still don't know what it was supposed to go on (that being said it was the best thing I got). And the meal was $70?!?!?!? Yikes. Hard pass on this place.
