I love that this is one of the few remaining Starbucks in Boston with the true coffee shop vibes like they used to have, even one of the last in the US! Lots of people drinking out of real mugs, getting coffee & tea refills, lounging, and listening to the great playlist. It's really nostalgic and well-maintained. And my drink is always made perfectly here. I go out of my way to go to this Starbucks for all the reasons. But finally decided to write a review bc today the manager (i believe?) was just kicking butt and hustling but also bantering with all the other baristas. On 11/24/2025 I placed an order on the mobile app. It does not take almost 13 mins to make a iced macchiato. I ask the barista how long I need to wait and she was so clueless. Manager is very concending as well. She grab her manager and his replied oh we back up my friend and just walk away. I'll not be returning to this Starbucks after what I experience. I was also a regular customer. I end up walking up the to the extreme wait time. Practice on your customer service. No type of apologies ridiculous. read more

Really good Starbucks in Allston! Conveniently located off of Comm Ave, with plentiful parking. I stopped by after my haircut at the salon down the avenue, and grabbed myself a peppermint mocha and breakfast sandwich. The peppermint mocha was the best I've had from Starbucks! Perfect ratio of everything. I really liked the chocolate chips in the drink, really added to the mocha sensation. Ordered caramel macchiato two days in a row. One day I got it hot, the next got it iced. When i called Starbucks asking them what were they thinking making a iced coffee when its 27 degrees the person picked up told me "well i make a lot of coffees a day if you have an issue contact uber". lol, first, uber didn't make my coffee. Second, the volume of your customers is not a valid excuse for poor judgement. I mean cmon, making an iced coffee at 27 degrees F? Either way, i wasn't being rude on the phone with them, simply wanted to ask what were they thinking when making that drink cold, again, at 27 degrees F. And in return, poor service and attitude was what I received. If you are unable to do your job correctly, maybe don't be a barista? Boston doesn't have as much great coffee as New York City does, so I can understand sometimes some people coming here, but I didn't think that their products were particularly good and in this little neighbourhood of Boston, there are lots of other places to use the bathroom, so I don't even cherish this location for that reason. This is one of the better Starbucks locations in the city. The baristas are always pleasant, friendly, and upfront about any issues that may be occurring. For instance, one of the espresso machines was down the last time I was in and the barista gave me a heads-up that the wait for my drink would be longer than usual and was patient while I chose a non-espresso based drink for time's sake. I stopped by on the way to work to feed my coffee habit. There is plenty of room and seating areas if I decide to relax while I have my cup of joe. I usual get a misto with soy milk or my trenta ice coffee. I never have to worry about the quality as it is always made the same way. The thing about Starbucks is - and it's nothing new, I hope - that their products are either overpriced, or just plain terrible. And that mistakes are part of their "shtick." So we come for the free WiFi, and stay for the not-being-alone while being left alone. This particular location, as far as pre-COVID and a little after, also had its share of great baristas and shift managers. This Starbucks used to be one of the better locations around this end of Boston but lately it's fallen off completely. The somewhat newer staff (perhaps not new to barista but new to this location) has a crappy attitude. There is one or two really cool workers but lately even they have seemed pretty miserable. I have had several poor quality experiences lately as well todays prompting this review. Ironically 3 people in a row, with me being the last.., had screwups. The staff even appeared to bad mouth us for speaking up! Whatever's goin on behind the counter here seems like it's turning everything good about this location Bad. This Starbucks is super clean compared to other Starbucks I've gone to! Super spacious, there's always students studying or people working from home here. It takes a little longer for drinks to be done even if you order a head of time on the app but still reasonable timing. I've ordered both through the app here and through the line, either or baristas are super friendly but I can tell they are super stressed from all the coffee orders that they have to complete in such a short time. There is meter parking outside although I still find it difficult to park sometimes due to the surplus of other restaurants around Starbucks that use the meter parking as well. Even so this Starbucks remains one of my go to Starbucks when I'm in the area! read more

Went here a few of times previously a couple years ago when they just opened. I stopped because my latte always tasted weird, too bitter but very watery, like they burned the beans and overdilute the coffee. So I moved my daily order to the Starbucks location in Brookline. Sadly the Brookline location just closed. So this morning I'm giving this location another try, hoping a couple of years would make a different. I ordered two grande flat whites. Although the flavor has improved, BOTH cups were only filled less than 2/3. I didn't pay just less than 2/3 of the amount though. Never again. Luckily there are other Starbucks that are consistently much better still near us. And if you don't want to travel further, just cross the street to Pavement coffeehouse! read more

What's the point of mobile ordering ahead if it's not ready when you get there? I ordered 10 mins before I got there & every single person who had ordered at the register while I was standing there got their food and drinks before me -- some of which received a chocolate croissant. The same croissant that I ordered and the barista told me would be an extra wait because they had to grab more in the back. Someone make it make sense. So incredibly frustrating. read more

One of the worst Starbucks locations I've been too. Slow, inefficient service. On top of that, they do a poor job of making the coffee itself. Nothing like getting a cup of coffee that's half filled with leftover grind. There's always a line here but it's just due to the ineptitude of the staff, who might be chit-chatting while a line forms behind you. Stick to the Harvard Ave location if you absolutely have to drink Starbucks. Otherwise there are better alternatives in the area. Starbucks corporate needs to either re-train the staff or take out the trash and start over. read more

I should've read the reviews before I came to this place. As being a partner myself I'm usually more lenient but the baristas straight up lied to my face at this location. I ordered a Starbucks Doubleshot on Ice and when made correctly I know that there should be foams from shaking it. When I got my drink, it definitely wasn't shaken so I asked them "was this shaken?" and they just lied and said yes when I didn't even see them shake a single thing. Not following the recipe is one thing but just straight up lying to who knows exactly how it should be done is not cool at all. Your standard Starbucks, very spacious inside with a lot of people studying. If you want a table space come early! For the most part the baristas are friendly, but twice I've had a bad interaction with one of the women. She's been so rude it makes me not want to come back. This past time, another barista was taking my order and asked me a question about how to make my drink, which was an iced earl grey tea latte, so I answered. She was just confused about making the latte iced, because the tea had to be steeped. So I told her that you brew the tea hot first, then pour it over ice and add the milk and sweetener. The manager-barista came over and told me I didn't need to tell them how to do their jobs. Not every experience is like this, and overall I love this Starbucks. Since it's only a matter of time before developers dub my section of Allston a "district" and endow it with a moniker guaranteed to raise rents, price out the locals, and generate a glossy "Boston's coolest neighborhood" spread in the "Improper," I want to see if I can put a name of my own devising into circulation before I find myself living in "AlBrook" ("Almost Brookline") or "WeHard" ("West of Harvard"). I've decided that "North of Coolidge," or "NoCool," is fitting and truly speaks to the area's present and future. I'll get started on the bumper stickers tomorrow. Anyway, NoCool became a little more (or less, depending on your perspective) "cool" this morning with the opening of a new Starbucks. The space it occupies formerly housed a shabby convenience store and a shady-looking Russian pharmacy that was probably a front for a money laundering operation. In every way, Starbucks is an improvement and a boon to the neighborhood. What's not to like? The coffee is fine, the pastries are fine, there's free wi-fi, electric outlets everywhere, and the background music is non-intrusive. Everything about Starbucks is just fine. So why was I so melancholy this evening as I sat in this shiny new Starbucks brooding over my coffee frappuccino? Maybe it was the realization that as I get older, my demographic becomes ever more bland and commercial. As I sat in this Starbucks that looked like every other Starbucks I'd ever seen anywhere in the United States and Canada, I started missing the days when I couldn't afford regular trips to Starbucks and my vacations involved sleeping in the car, and not trying to accumulate more Starwood Resort points at the Sheraton by not having my towels changed every day. I came here to redeem the reward and asked for a grande sized drink. Then it came out to be a small size(tall). It happened the same when I came here the second time(Different employees but same situation)I have no idea what happened because I also went to other locations recently and they usually asked me if I wanted a venti instead of grande because it was a free reward. This is what Starbucks SHOULD be like (looking at you Starbucks in Downtown Crossing). This Starbucks actually feels like a cafe in a more classical sense. I don't know if this is due to the manager's hiring practices or what, but the people that work here, or have worked here in the past, are ALWAYS consistently great people. Kind, caring, friendly, professional. They always remember customers. I cannot speak more highly of this location and the staff. The space is always clean, organized, and comfortable. The only negative for this place is that there are often no tables, due to students taking them up for long periods of time. That's not the fault of the business or management. OK, I'm lazy. I can't stand Dunkin' Donuts coffee; that's not coffee it's hot, brown water. Yet, I also can't often get myself to hike down Harvard Avenue to Starbucks, especially on a freezing cold winter morning. Solution? The gleaming new Starbucks on Commonwealth Ave. Located two blocks from my apartment, the sparkling new outlet is well designed and welcoming. The staff is friendly and there is plenty of seating, at least for now. When the college invasion happens, that will probably change. I never thought I'd be so pleased to see a chain open an outpost in my neighborhood. With its wide windows, unobtrusive music, delicious breakfast, great coffee and knowledgeable staff, the new Starbucks is a gift to Allston. And it's right opposite the Griggs Street/Long Ave T stop! All right. I pretty much get Starbucks everyday for like the past 10 years of my life (I'm 24). I thought lately Starbucks had changed their coffee because every time I got my regular order it comes out with a strong bitter BURNT taste. So I stopped going to not only this location but Starbucks in general. Starbucks never had the best coffee but it was drinkable and gave me my morning buzz. One day, out of desperation before work I rushed the Copley location to get my reg. This tasted exactly like the coffee I was getting for the past nine years! So this isn't a brand issue, but a location issue. I usually get iced lattes. Every time you make a latte you need to clean your scoop thing and put fresh espresso. This location is lazy and reuses the same one! I don't mind if you reuse it but unfortunately when you do that my coffee tastes like ass! read more

One of the best Starbucks I've been to!! On the BU campus so close for students. A lot of sitting room to have a coffee or study, it's very cozy. Friendly staff and consistent drinks. The only complaints I have are volume of music and lack of outlets to charge. I work from home and often visit cafes. This location is usually full of people, which is great, but unless you sit by the window (mostly taken) or on the ends of the island (again mostly taken), you pretty much can't charge your laptop. I wish the giant center table is wired. That table sits at least 10 people. Then there's the music. At times the volume is super-loud that my clients have trouble hearing me over the phone. I have been a long-time customer of Starbucks in general and was especially happy that I finally have a place to go to only a couple blocks away from where I live. Honestly, it's been a year since I've been a customer at this store and I love the atmosphere, location, and am fully satisfied with their drinks most of the time, which made me hold off on writing such bad review about this place for a year. And I also didn't want to sound like one of those snobby customers who file complaints for minor issues, since I also worked at a coffee shop before and a lot of times consumer dissatisfactions can be anticipated and resolved before they actually file a complaint. However, I have been in several situations where I had to leave the place with unpleasant feelings because of one of the employees who is very unfriendly, who did not care when I told her that I ordered a venti size drink when she made it in a grande size (not to mention walking away before I could ask her to remake it), who refused to refill the milk on the self bar at the door and instead poured the milk herself in the cup only half-full and said she would have to charge for extra if I needed more. Since when did starbucks charge you extra for the milk on the self bar? This isn't the first time that I've had uneasy feelings about her attitude and rudeness. Most of the time she would just walk away after finishing her sentence or just stare at me when I express my confusion. I filed a complaint directly to the customer service center by writing an email but honestly I don't think I'll be ordering any more drinks to her in the future. All the other baristas are extremely nice, super friendly, and keeps the place amiable which makes me want to keep going to this place. Thus my frustration.
