Overall, our experience was good. The food was tasty, portions weren't too large but were sufficient. The chickpeas fritter sandwich came loaded and was actually a little difficult to eat and had to be deconstructed! The reason for taking one star off was that the food arrived cold even though we dined in. The fries especially were just stone cold. So good I had to stop by two days in a row! Really excellent vegetarian/vegan shop that is very close to the hospitals. Super interesting sandwich's, bowls, and wraps. The Buffalo chicken sandwich base was celeriac? It was so cool! The soy bacon in the BLT was also excellent, lightly smoky and meaty. The inside is modern and clean. Inside was quite spacious and not busy on a January Thursday for late lunch (1:15). I ended up grabbing the verde rice and bean bowl for $11.25 and it was tasty! There are fried plantains (the highlight for me!), pickled onions, shredded carrots, green onion, jalapeños which were perfect and added a kick, rice & beans (and probably a few others great ingredients haha). It was nice and warm for this cold day! I have been a patron of this restaurant since I first started working in the local area five years ago. My favorite sandwich is the mayor Menino's. I grew up vegetarian, and I have not ever tasted anything like it. Their service is impeccable. The food is delicious, order ahead is available via an app. The location is super convenient to the Longwood medical area. I only have to minus one star because it is very pricey and not something I could well afford on a daily basis. One new improvement I can testify to is that they have come out with a discount program and if you are a patron of this restaurant quite frequently, you may find that financially feasible for you. But for me and my wallet, my monthly trips to Clover for the mayor Menino sandwich will have to suffice; definitely a must have. read more

Recently started being a frequenter here and got to try a fair variety to give it an overall review now. For all the Yelpers out there, I'm going to help solve the battle between the chickpea fritter sandwich and the Impossible meatball sandwich once and for all. Hands down, the chickpea fritter sandwich takes the medal here. It's an oldie but goodie. I love the combo of pickled veggies, tahini and hummus tucked in the pita bread. (5 stars) I've even tried the snack version, the falafel skewers when I wasn't in the sandwich mood. (4 stars) Both options are solid and gives the original falafel folks a run for their money. The Impossible meatball sandwich was good but it reminded me more of a classic meatball sandwich but in a pita. Great option if you've been missing meatballs and wanted to go vegetarian though. (3.5 stars). What was also very unexpected was how tasty the egg and eggplant sandwich was! (5 stars) It reminded me a bit of the classic egg salad but way more sophisticated and healthier. If you're in the mood for some mushrooms, thumbs up for the Shiitake Chowder (5 stars) over the Baja Mushroom sandwich (3.5 stars) and if you're debating between soups, choose this chowder over the lentil (3 stars). I even appreciate that you can get carbonated water free of charge and I help myself to some each time I drop in. The only item I would probably skip on my next trip are the rosemary fries likely because it's much more healthier and it just didn't have the oomph I usually look for in fries so I think I'll stick to the dirty greasy crispy fries in the classic sense. Overall, a terrific sandwich spot in this area even though it's sort of chaotic during the lunch rush and I wish I lived closer to one to make this a more routine option! read more

I have a gluten intolerance and ordered a soup here to go which was explicitly marked gluten-free on their online menu, no modification options. The soup came with chunks of bread added on top. There was no heads up for this, no option to skip the bread, etc. I was tending to a family member in the hospital system nearby and couldn't head back to request a new order. I've tried contacting Clover for a partial refund twice, at different email addresses, and have gotten no response (it's now weeks later). As they state online, they have no phone number. Consistently good and always a good choice when needing something healthy and delicious when at work. I've enjoyed everything on the menu, but in particular gravitate toward the items with mushrooms or impossible meat. I miss the Bridgewater, which is made with buttermilk-fried cremini mushrooms with a honey-sriracha glaze, and a fresh kale-and-red-onion slaw. If that doesn't get you to Clover, not sure what will. Other favorites include the popover breakfast sandwich as well as their pourover coffee (recently the orange rind cafe au lait has really been hitting the spot). Outside of to-go orders, I've also tried their holiday-themes boxes, which were thoughtfully packaged, fresh, and felt well worth the price. All together, the ingredients and the food itself is very high quality. The one thing I do wish for sometimes is larger portions for the price as often I'm left still a bit hungry. Really flavorful, fresh, healthy food and convenient if you're going to any of the medical centers nearby. Their falafel are different from what I'm used to, but great -- they're small and super crispy (so instead of 2 or 3 golfball-sized falafel, you get 6-8 mini ones). The hummus is creamy, and you get lots of very fresh vegetables (no mushy cucumbers or sad lettuce mix). The sauces are also excellent. I also love the hibiscus tea. read more

I would say the service needs a slight improvement but one million stars for how tasty the vegetarian food options are and for the ambiance and spaciousness this eatery offers. I've ordered here: 1.) The Baja Mushroom Pita Sandwich (summer spacious) - 4 stars. This is not at all spicy and the mushrooms have some hard chewy parts that can be tough to work through. But the cornmeal buttermilk coating on the mushroom is yummy as is the pita spread. 2.) Chickpea Fritter Pita Sandwich - 5 star. Must order, fan favorite and very loaded with all the veggies 3.) BLT Pita Sandwich - 5 stars. Must order, Secret menu item that you have to ask for. I'm not sure why they don't have it on the menu because it's utterly delicious and my favorite menu item here! 4.) Chocolate Whoopie Pies - 5 stars. Served after 5 pm on Friday's. Definitely a must order item and has a light cream cheese whipped filling. Utterly mouth watering! This Clover location is by far the best I've been to. The eatery is huge and there's plenty of seating and areas to move around. There's even a bar top to sit at where you can get a closer view of the beautiful open kitchen concept they have. My own gripe with this location is that they are constantly running out of ingredients. I guess it's good they are selling food so quickly but I really wish they were better stocked. I also wish their digital cashier system or lack there of was better organized. This clover must have four leaves, because Boston is incredibly lucky to have a restaurant with this concept. Even San Francisco doesn't have a veg restaurant this spot on. I wish I could clone it and bring it back with me. I walked in and was greeted warmly by Sarah, who came around from the counter to walk me through their large digital menu board. She explained that they were a big food truck presence around Boston and have expanded to restaurant spaces because of their popularity. Everything is vegetarian or vegan and completely locally sourced. I would have liked to have seen more of the ingredients in detail on the digital menu or, at the very least, some kind of symbol that indicates which items are (or could be made) vegan. Fortunately there wasn't a line behind me and I had Sarah right there with me to answer my questions. Customer service is clearly a priority here, and it's so refreshing. I was also given a free sample of their new Thai coffee as I looked over the mouth-watering menu. I decided on a veganized version of the chickpea fritter sandwich (which I'm told is what they are best known for), a side of rosemary fries, and a coffee. As I waited, I got to check out the large, modern space and open kitchen. There is ample seating and the whole interior is bright, clean, and filled with natural light. The sandwich I received was monstrous and needed to be cut in half. It was loaded with carrots, pickles, hummus, cabbage slaw and tomato-cucumber salad. Everything was fresh, from the soft pita bread to the well-spiced falafel. The hummus was flavorful but not overpowering and the pickled veggies added the right balance. I devoured it and have come to the conclusion that it is one of the single best vegan sandwiches that I have ever had. The fries were good, and topped with fresh sprigs of rosemary. Although a tad too heavy on the sea salt for my taste, they were crispy and thin. I also tried the housemade ketchup, which was just tangy enough. The coffee was good but the soymilk was just basic and unsweetened. I would have liked to had the option of almondmilk instead. If I lived in Boston and needed a great space to work or study this would be my kind of place. The wifi is free and unlike the somber tone of coffeehouse music, the vibe was upbeat with a mix of motown favorites. I wouldn't identify myself as a vegetarian but out of all the food options in the Longwood area this is always my #1 choice. The only factor deterring me from here is that it can get pricey (you won't find a lunch/dinner sandwich for less than $9, and their sandwiches aren't that big either). If I was rich I would eat here for every meal. However, the quality of their food is amazing and everything tastes so good. Their sandwiches are always perfectly balanced with the right sauces, seasonal vegetables, and protein that you wouldn't even miss meat if you were craving it (or just get the impossible meatball sandwich). I love that they make everything fresh to order and at the same time, pride themselves in quick service. It gets very busy around noontime on weekdays but even then I usually get my order within minutes of paying. Their drip coffee is super strong. You pay over $3 a cup but trust me, it'll hit you like two (or three) shots of espresso. This location has so much seating and also has beer on tap for $5 a pint. Within the past few months, Clover introduced a line of "snacks" on their menu (falafel skewers, fried mushrooms, hummus and carrots). They're great for sharing or if you're not as hungry, and they're also a bit cheaper than the sandwiches ($6-7). I've yet to try all of them but their hummus is so amazingly creamy. If you're visiting Boston then I'd strongly recommend the rosemary fries, their seasonal sandwiches, or anything that features their hummus (like the chickpea fritter or egg and eggplant). If you'll be in Boston for a while then I recommend slowly working your way through the menu because I'm sure you'll want to come back! read more

We love this place - the menu always has lot of good meatless/vegetable heavy stuff and the staff is great - friendly and good at their jobs. It's fresh, quick, and there are unusual choices available if you like. I loved that they had breakfast sandwiches that didn't include egg or even egg substitutes, and the breads are delicious. The only negatives are the portion sizes (we usually leave hungry, actually) and the understandable (COVID) lack of self serve condiments. Our meals would have been improved by salt (not that they were under seasoned, I'm not normal) and hot sauce (again, that's me). Also, I wish they had locations in RI or at least further away from Boston itself. It's definitely on my short list of favorite chains and I'd like to visit more! read more

I quickly became obsessed with Clover during my recent 5-day trip to Boston. I actually heard about it before arriving, but discounted it because I was too confused by their website. I'm so glad my friend I was visiting told me to come here! This location was the first one I visited, for breakfast. I don't like egg, so opted to go with the popover sandwich instead of their very popular breakfast sandwich. It was awesome! Tempeh bacon, cheese and tomato on a popover. I didn't even think I needed or wanted this. But wow, so excellent! I visited two other Clover locations during the long weekend for lunch and dinner, which were also excellent. The pitas that all of the sandwiches are served in are so fluffy and delicious. I had both the chickpea fritter (code for falafel) and BBQ seitan sandwiches, and really liked both of them. Clover, you let me down today. I have been a loyal Clover customer since they were just operating out of food trucks. When they opened their location in Harvard Square, it became one of my go-to spots. When they opened the location inside the Harvard Science Center, I specifically stopped in to pick up food and carried my to-go bag all the way to South Station because I was not about to gamble with those South Station food stalls. I wanted my Clover. And, until today, Clover never disappointed. My favorite item on the Clover menu is the egg and eggplant sandwich. I have ordered this item at their other locations and enjoyed the pita chock-full of delicious veggies and a beautifully splayed out egg. But not today. Today, I got a sad, half-filled pita with a clumsy egg shoved inside. At first I thought there was a mistake, so I went back to the girl who made my sandwich. She did not do anything. I'm not sure what to make of this incident. The sandwich was still tasty, but it was not at the level that I have come to expect from Clover (especially for a sandwich that costs $9 after tax). And it has made me second-guess my loyalty, at least when I am in the Longwood area. So you can see what I mean, I'm uploading a photo where I compare an egg and eggplant sandwich I got from the Clover in HSQ with the one I received today. How is this place right across from my workplace and I JUST tried it out?! This place is sooo good- they have an interesting vegetarian menu that at first glance might make a meat lover shy away...but trust me, once you try it you'll want to come back (and I love meat!!). Omg the chickpea fritter pita sandwich is amazing- I have literally never had anything like it. The veggies in it are fresh, while the falafel balls are soft in the inside and crispy on the outside-providing a nice contrast in both texture and flavors. All of this sandwiched in between pita bread, making for a delightful meal. Just a word of caution: it's a bit messy eating this thing because it's so huge so make sure to get those extra napkins!! The fries were also great--they were seasoned nicely with sea salt and rosemary. Would recommend to get it to accompany your entree. I saw so many customers order JUST a side of fries so all the more proof of why they are heavenly. Clover has been the lunch spot that I've been missing! Friendly service who approach you upon entering to take your order in real time conversational style. Food is delicious and healthy--the tried and true Clover vegetarian reputation from other locations. The egg and eggplant and oyster mushroom sandwiches are my favorite. Omnivores and herbivores will all be pleased. Their drinks are lovely and range from house made tea to hipster sodas. Prices are decent and at the same price to lower than its neighbors.
