I really like this location. It's rather unobtrusive in a small shopping center. Signage outside lacks the standard green color and there's a large tree in front of it as well, so it blends in with other stores. That said, this doesn't seem to affect the foot traffic. When I entered, most of the tables had customers sitting, some on computers, some with friends. So, clearly they have a good customer base. The baristas worked very well together, in a very quiet way. I was very surprised at how quiet they were. I think this helped set the tone of the store. My chai latte was made to the specifications I requested in the app (nothing fancy!), and my Potato, Cheddar & Chive Bake was served hot (I've had issues with that at other locations). This location has a drive thru, but it's not obvious from the road, or even when you pull into the parking lot. There is a small sign at the road entrance, but I don't think it's adequate. However, if you've read this far and would use the drive thru--now you know! Should I find myself on this side of town again I definitely would come back to kill some time like I did today. read more

After ordering via DD multiple times, I dread getting a cappuccino from this location! The drink is never hot and most times lukewarm/cold and it has nothing to do with the time needed for my Dasher to deliver because my Dashers usually deliver these orders pretty quickly after the order's been placed. The ratios of ingredients are usually off: am I drinking a coffee-based drink with a splash of milk or am I drinking a milk-based drink with a dash of coffee? I tasted it after I left the store. I called back to the store to discuss. Erin took my call and she was also my barista. It's taken me some time to write this review and at first I wasn't even going to write it, then I realized they might do this to others... so be warned. A couple of months ago I went to this location for the first and LAST time. I asked for an iced green tea latte with coconut milk (I'm lactose intolerant). I'm not sure if the barista was having a bad day or just didn't care to get the order right but my first latte was coconut milk but all of the green tea was in graduals at the bottom of the cup. I don't usually send back orders but I couldn't drink it. The Starbucks on Slaughter has NEVER screwed this up. So, I ask him to make it again. I get the drink back with graduals at the bottom of the cup and my drink a very pale green.... Wrong again. So I head back up to the counter and ask him why it tastes weak and not like the normal green tea latte I get. His response: "well, I put less in because when it's cold it's hard for the green tea to mix in. But I could shake it for you instead of stirring the green tea in." My response (as I stare in disbelief): "yes, please and thank you." So I get the drink for a THIRD time, now properly mixed and looking like a normal green tea latte. I get a few sips in and realize he used regular milk, NOT coconut milk!! I throw the drink in the trash and walk out. My poor stomach was aching for the rest of the day because some young guy who was angry that I wanted my drink right choose (or forgot) to put in the right milk. If you have a good insensitivity, allergy or care that your drinks are made the way you want - don't go to this location. The baristas don't seem to care if they do their jobs well. I know people can have bad days but don't take that out on your customers. I'm paying for a drink that is on the regular menu that every barista should know how to make properly. read more

I hold it open for her as I say, "After you! " You can learn a lot about someone by what time they arrive at the coffee shop and by what drink they order. At 6:30 am on a Thursday morning 6 years ago today, this woman ordered 2 Grande Soy Lattes. I asked her if she wanted to have coffee with me. She said, "Yes, but I really need to deliver this second Latte while it is hot." We sat and talked about architecture and life. We became friends. She became less and less concerned with THAT OTHER FUCKING HOT LATTE. We returned to this Starbucks a gazillion times and all of the baristas knew us by our orders and our names. "Four shots of espresso in a 'for here' cup" and "Grande Soy Latte" started to date. I met her kids. Those kids became teens and are in college and we have our own espresso machine now. Nearly the entire crew at this location knows me, my husband, and my daughter. In fact, they know my daughter's constant companion by name: Green Bunny. If we come strolling in, you can hear the cries of greeting from nearly all Baristas. "Green Bunny! Green Bunny! Green Bunny's here!" Now that'll warm your heart like nuthin' else. Who doesn't enjoy it when people recognize and acknowledge the joy that is Green Bunny? 3. Plain and simple, they've got it down to a science and I know I'm going to get the same deliciousness each and every time, and most of the local spots just aren't hip to the fact that, YES I DO NEED 20 OZ! So thank you to the crew down at my local spot. I only wish y'all were open 24 hours so I could enjoy you coooooooonstantly. As for Wal-Mart, of COURSE I prefer Target, like every other design-conscious person. But I don't live to hate the Wal-Mart. I have a confession to make: I have very little shame, most especially if food is involved somehow. I cannot understand why it is faux pas to bring food from a different restaurant into another restaurant if I am ordering the same amount of food and appreciate said food as I normally would? My friends convinced me to chill at this Starbucks, to order a drink, and then to rethink my decision. Well, for fifteen minutes longer than their closing time, the employees at this particular Starbucks let us stay in one of their outside tables as we ate our order from a different place before going into Chi'lantro. They basically saved me from being a pariah. They also saved me from going thirsty, as their cold iced tea served as my beverage of choice while I attempted to wolf down the appetizers I ordered to go before marching into Chi'lantro to try their goodies. This is my Starbucks. I probably drive through here at least 2-3 times a week. They know me. We chat. I haven't seen Jay in a while, but he liked to make my coffee with extra love. Seriously, he drew hearts on my cup for me. I love him. They're chatty, they know me, and I know I'm gonna get my coffee just the way I like it every. Single. Time. I decided to try the new Mango Dragonfruit Refreshers because I thought I loved that flavor combo. Usually I dont have to do this as they would ask me what I am waiting for before I have to ask them. They have no recollecton of my order, quickly whip up drinks and throw them my way, dont try to rectify the situation/ provide compensation or simply apologize like other locations would. This has happened more than once. If Starbucks is going to charge the amount they do for their drinks... they have to uphold some kind of service and drink quality standard. I had ordered 2 venti Carmel Frappuccino and was really disappointed on the way they came out. The first time around they were extremely light compared to usual and tasted very bland and only like milk and whip cream. So when I told the barista she offered to make me new ones which I accepted, but the second time around it tasted like burned coffee. I did not like the way either of them came out. This is typically where I'll swing by on the way to work- but only for the drive thru. I've only been inside once due to the fact that people drive like maniacs through that strip mall parking lot in the morning and backing out of a space can be a pain. So it is your typical Starbucks fare as far as food/beverages go. I've found that a pretty good average wait time per car in line is about 45-60 seconds per car in line. So if there are 10 cars ahead of me, I could possibly be waiting for 10 minutes. Some mornings, I don't care, but others I do- so it is relatively simple to pull out if the line seems a bit long. One thing that bugs me is the way they promote things to pair with your drink. The funny thing is that they always know what is absolutely the worst thing I could even be considering at that moment. Usually it is just a: "Would you like to pair your drink with a blueberry scone?" or "Pumpkin Muffin" or "Warm, toasty breakfast sandwhich." However, today's interaction was particularly annoying. I order my drink, she responds: "All right, so that's a grande, no whip, mocha frappucino and a buttered croissant." Wait, WHAT? I did not like that tactic and thought it was in worse taste than just asking me if I wanted a buttered croissant. Asking is one thing, but making it sound like you got the order wrong and doing it on purpose is kind of stretching it for me. And I know that this isn't her fault at all- that's what they're trained to do. So my beef is much more with home office than with any of the individual Starbuckses with drive-thrus (I've noticed less pushiness indoors). Although it maybe wouldn't hurt to suggest something a little more nutritious? I know they have bananas in there - and sometimes I pull into work and think to myself, "Man... this mocha frappucino would work really well with a banana right now." Then, if I'm out of my banana stash at work, I just go across the street to the other Starbucks or the 7-11. But then again, I'm guessing bananas aren't $3.00, so that scraps that idea. read more

I went in yesterday and there were 3 employees in the store---two behind the counter and one mopping the floor. Me and my friend walked in, and not one of the three said a word to us. The manager behind the counter gave some instructions to the girl mopping (who was right next to us) and continued on her way cleaning out the pastry area. Granted, it was about 20 minutes until closing, but still---that's 20 minutes. I looked at some mugs, and then turned to the two employees behind the counter. They both looked at me but continued doing their duties. I told my friend "Let's go." He asked why and I told him "No one even greeted us." Something so simple. As we were walking out, the employee mopping called out to us "You're not going to order anything?" To which I said, "No." and left.
