Came to Java House for a business meeting. It worked out extremely well! They have four top tables…read morein the main area where you can sit. They also have dedicated meeting rooms. The dedicated meeting rooms are available for a price. See picture below. My other coffee shops, you can purchase all different kinds of coffee. In addition, they have an assortment of breakfast sandwiches. We didn't try the breakfast sandwiches, but they looked good on the menu and in the past We just got regular coffee and lattes. They were very good. The service was just OK. Our coffee was delivered promptly, but the server was not overly friendly. We ask for a refill on the plain drip coffee. We were told it would be two dollars for a refill. We ask for the latte to be reheated since we had sat there for sometime during our meeting. We were told they do not have a microwave. There are a lot of repeat loyal customers since this place markets themselves for business meetings. They may want to consider changing their model for their repeat customers. Perhaps by using their rewards program to recognize customers by offering a less expensive, or even free, refill on plain coffee. This will make them more competitive with other coffee shops. It will also encourage the meeting environment that they are trying to establish. We will return again for a business meeting. We are hoping they become more customer focused for their repeat visitors.

It is an easy place to enjoy whether I am working for a while or meeting friends to hang out, and that flexibility is a big part of the appeal. Carmel is better for having spots like this. She said she had to drink it quickly, before it got any colder, and couldn't wait for me to take my picture. We come here quite often. This is the first time we have been served a drink that was not to temperature. We did notice a lot of new faces for the wait staff. It was also much slower than normal to obtain our beverage. Both these factors may have caused the drink to not be up to par with regards to temperature. We will not let this experience taint us from returning. I wonder if more of the profit is from these non dairy milk surcharges or the coffee itself. I would say the latte was one of the better ones. It was smooth and not too sweet. Sometimes they're too sweet. The service was good, and it wasn't particularly busy so the coffee came out in like 5 minutes. There are small pastries to try and other specialty drinks. I imagine having the support/backing from Heartland Foods helps... The environment at this particular location is okay. I've always been confused by the meeting room in the back, which has no heating and cooling. I'll blame that on whoever took the lead on the buildout. Now for the most important question: How is the coffee? I wouldn't call myself a coffee connoisseur but I'd like to consider myself a decent judge of good quality and flavor. My home coffee preparation process includes: grinding fresh beans to a grain specific for my preferred brewing method (usually Chemex or Aeropress), heating the water to a specific temp based on the bean's country/region of origin, patience, etc. Java House's coffee is not good... I'm fairly certain they use "coffee" powder that's dissolved into water (think Nestle instant coffee) then placed in pressurized kegs that are then either heated or cooled before being poured via a tap. This is not a place you go to experience good coffee. I believe Java House appeals more to certain coffee drinkers who enjoy adding flavors, sweeteners, milks/creams, etc. and not those interested in the art of growing, roasting, brewing, etc. If you're chasing quality coffee in the area, I suggest checking out either Indie Coffee Roasters, Illumine Coffee, or Eggshell (if you can figure out Eggshell's hours). If broken down, my rating would be: 2.5 stars for the successes and environment .5 star for the coffee For the Java House folks: If I'm totally off regarding my assumption of how you brew, please feel free to correct me!

We sat down for a conversation that turned out to be a lot longer than either of us had planned. The team at ICR was friendly and checked in regularly, but were never intrusive. My friend really enjoyed the coffee, and that says something because she's very picky! As good as the coffee and the ambiance of ICR were, the service provided by Elise and Katherine was the real star of the show. The decor is great, the vibe is chill, and the service is fantastic. I've yet to meet someone who tries the coffee at ICR and comes away unimpressed. Next time you are in Carmel, and you want a spot with great coffee, great service, and a quiet yet classy look, Indy Coffee Roasters is the place to be, and if you want to skip the crowds, this location is great!
