Continuing my quest of trying all the coffeeshops in the Indianapolis and surrounding areas and it took me to Indie Coffee Roasters in Carmel. I got one of their house lattes. I thought it was fairly small compared to other places and I really didn't taste any of the additional flavors, just coffee and milk. Everyone was super welcoming and friendly and the service was fast, but I wasn't really wowed by the coffee so I'm not sure this is going to be someplace that I go back to. read more

This cafe is a great spot to grab decent coffee or matcha when you're in town. The ambiance is clean, there's plenty of seating, and the staff are friendly. Upon entering, we noticed a steady line that persisted while we waited for our drinks. They offer a solid selection like pourovers, espresso-based drinks, sepcialty lattes, matcha, and more. That said, I wish the specialty lattes had descriptions since the name alone don't reveal what's in them. One of the highlights is the open counter that was low enough to watch the baristas work. It's fascinating to see how quickly and precisely they prepare each drink, measuring everything with care. For me, that was the most enjoyable part of the visit. Once the line died down, I asked the cashier about the matcha since I really enjoyed it with a little vanilla syrup. She said it was Japanese, ceremonial-grade. As someone who buys matcha regularly, I consider that a bare minimum for a cafe serving it. What I really wanted was the brand-it makes a difference. I have been wanting to try this coffee shop, and finally made it! It is located in a house that was transformed and it really has a great open concept with plenty of seating. There is a parking lot behind the building, and also a ramp. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. I ordered the Sundae Parlor, and was so excited to see a latte with banana, vanilla and white chocolate. The presentation was beautiful, but I was a bit disappointed as I didn't really get any of the banana, vanilla or white chocolate flavor coming through. Spending a weekend in Carmel, I stumbled into Indie Coffee Roasters and couldn't help but fall in love with the place. Maybe it was the bright and cheery (dog friendly!) atmosphere, the array of dogs I met on the patio, the friendly staff, or the absolutely delicious latte I enjoyed... but regardless, I really enjoyed my hour spent here. The drink I ordered was just what I needed, and while I can't recall exactly what it was called, the blend of coffee, cinnamon, and subtle sweetness was excellent. The only downside to Indie Coffee Roasters is that I live out of state and won't be able to visit often! 10/10 recommend! read more

Definitely put Indie Coffee Roasters on your radar which might not be easy to do because with limited parking it's rather easy to drive right by. However they don't make coffee complicated and for that I would gladly park down the street and walk for a solid cup of coffee or any variation of. The house like setting provides a comfortable atmosphere to stay and work or just enjoy the space. Very sanitary feeling here, definitely clean and then some. A limited menu featuring coffee was displayed as was a small selection of t shirts hats and mugs. The Seinfeld reference was noticed and appreciated. I didn't pickup that blend, maybe once we get closer to Christmas I may. Fast efficient service made this visit a quick one. My first stop in Indiana was none other than the Indie Coffee Rosters. Clearly landing at 6 am from Seattle meant that I needed coffee to perk me up and get me on local time. Let me start off by saying -- this is the PERFECT cafe for dog lovers. I have a 15 year old doxie and let's just say the ambiance was pulling at my heart strings immediately. We made a coffee run later in the afternoon and I was kinda mad I had to go back to the office because I could have hung out at Indie Coffee Roasters the rest of the day! Staff is super helpful and I appreciated the recommendations from their just small enough menu. Dare I say, I already had enough coffee at that point in the day so I went with a tea drink which is very unlike me. It had mango, coconut and I could have had like three more of them. I am so blessed to live so close to Indie Coffee Roasters. It's for sure one of the best coffee shops in the arts & design district. The inside is huge & well spaced. It's definitely a place to go if you have some work that needs to get done. The outside patio is great as well. The coffee is gorgeous and tastes SO good. They only have a few specialty drink choices but each one is frankly great so i can't complain. The coffee is made to order, nice and hot. Nice little shop on Main Street. We rode our bikes and sat outside on the patio. A little bit more expensive than others in the area but seemed popular based on the traffic. I do really like their whole bean coffee and buy it to brew at home. They have a small parking lot in back but there is street parking all around which is your better bet. Friendly place but can take a bit to get your order. Worth checking out if in the area. read more

I've been on the hunt for some great coffee shops in the area and this spot checks all the boxes. Cozy inside with tons of room to hangout and get some work done. I'm a huge fan of the rotating order taking; the person who takes your order is the same person who makes your drink - super cool! They even walked the drink over to me after it was made, such a nice gesture. Bought a bag of beans and they've been making my mornings a little extra special. Will be back for more. read more

No almond milk or sugar alternatives. The guy at the counter said "it's because the sugar substitutes alter the flavor of the coffee". Well yeah...that's the whole point to make it sweet and you can't have or want regular sugar. He also said their coffee shops are basically just a marketing campaign for the roasters. So basically this shop doesn't care about actually serving the community, or at least if you want any type of substitutions in your premade coffee. No options and condescending staff. Won't come back and won't be buying their bagged coffee anymore (been buying it to have at home and this was the first time in the shop). read more

Work or a casual catch up Indie Coffee Roasters has the perfect, casual vibe. The place is right near the newly opened Carmel library and has nice open windows which make meeting and working in winter also such a visual pleasure. It was hard finding street parking but the baristas let us know that the parking spot to the right (when you are facing indie) has complimentary parking. We ordered Americano and Winter Chai, both which didn't disappoint. The cups have a cute paw after the owners pup Indy which is adorable. I rather enjoy their seasonal drink offerings so that's usually where I will order from the menu. If you are a fan of French pastries I suggest ordering one of the various offerings. Both times I've been here, this place has been poppin' so it must have quite a few regulars. The first time I had to get my coffee to-go because all of the seating was taken. On my second visit, thankfully someone was leaving a table right as I arrived so I was able to snag a seat. That said, although this hipster coffee shop has a neat concept, it seems poorly executed. Pros: -Reasonable prices, almost everything is under $5 -Free refill on drip coffee -Free wifi but password protected, so ask at the counter when you order -Outdoor seating Cons: -Limited drink choices and very few food items, although since it is advertised as a coffee shop I'm not knocking them for the food -Only one type of drip coffee: no differentiation of medium, bold, or blonde (even panera has a couple different types of drip coffee for different palates) -The only kind of sweetener they offer is "sugar in the raw," the granulated brown stuff that dissolves so poorly it all ends up settling at the bottom of your cup. They do not have regular sugar, splenda, sweet 'n low or literally any other sweetener that regular coffee shops carry -No creamer at the condiment station (although you might be able to ask for some at the counter?) -Cramped inside seating area -Noisy environment: if you don't have headphones on, you can hear everyones conversations around you....word for word -Very small parking lot with difficult access read more

My husband and I have been meaning to try Indie Coffee Roasters for a while now but unfortunately it's not really close by to where we live or shop. However, we finally found some time yesterday while in the area. The shop itself is adorable! The bar area is the coolest I've ever seen a coffee shop. The women who cashed us out was very friendly and welcoming. I decided to go with a dirty chai, which is often my go-to when at a new shop and my husband got an americano. He seemed to really enjoy his drink, however, I could barely finish mine. It was hard to put my finger on, but it was too sweet and watery tasting and nothing at all what I'm used too. As for the inside, it was packed. Every table was filled, no one in masks and barely spaced out. I was ready to get out of there. I will happily try it again.... later. read more

This place is really cute. Service was quick. However their milk steamers were out so I couldn't get a hot latte on this snowy day. They also do not have any sugar free options, not even Splenda. The barista told me honey was their only sugar free option which is obviously not correct. Probably won't go out of our way to return myself but could be great for someone else!! read more

They have a pretty good selection and have seasonal drinks as well (a plus for this holiday girl, I love pumpkin, peppermint, etc). This place is a great stop for pastries and/ or a quick snack. The staff were friendly and I felt welcome from the moment I walked in the door. There is a good amount of seating and I could find myself coming to this shop to enjoy some productive alone time or meeting with friends to catch up. The only aspect I don't love about Indie Coffee Roasters would be that there isn't a parking lot. Street parking is the only option, but with this location being in downtown Carmel, that's a given. Inside the cafe it is very clean and modern. There is ample room to study or sit but it does fill up quick. They have a little patio outside and a tiny parking lot. A great find in Carmel, Indiana! I went to my trusty Yelp to find a good coffee shop and this was definitely a winner! The coffee here was great! We got two cold brews and the "Adam Palmer". The cold brew was strong - just how we like it! The Adam Palmer was quite unique but delish. It was cold brew with raspberry lemonade served with a lemon wedge. The chocolate chip cookie was delightful too. The vibe of the place was awesome! I would definitely want to grab my laptop and work away with a nice cup of coffee. I give major props to the marketing person as every little detail was covered from cute mugs, coffee beans, and apparel. It is a large coffee shop with plenty of space to hang out (both indoors and outdoors). The employees were super nice and made a great effort to get to know you. I just love this place so much. The huge windows with natural light make it so beautiful and welcoming. The big, communal tables make it comfortable to join other working people and feel like you have an office away from the office. There are always people meeting up and talking, but it's never too loud. The wifi is great, the staff is so friendly and remembers everyone's names, and the seasonal drinks are so fun. Most recently, I got the spring "Superbloom" latte which had wildberry, honey, and violet with a splash of oat milk. It was delicious. This place is definitely in my rotation! read more

Excellent coffee and cafe. I ordered the house drip black coffee as well as a pour over decaf. The house drip coffee is a full bodied, non bitter and very smooth coffee. No "extras" needed. The decaf is as good if not better. A little less body but still smooth. I usually like a light and bright roast that I can taste berry or fruit notes. I would say this is more like a chocolate note. Plenty of seating in the café, and even though it's quite busy, and a wide open area, it is broken up enough to make it seem private. Excellent outdoor seating as well on a beautiful day. The staff is very knowledgeable, and the pricing seems consistent with other coffee shops. I also got a strawberry granola bar, but the only proof in pictures is the empty bag that it came in.
