I went here for the first time last week and overall had a good experience. The employee that took my order was friendly and my ube matcha latte was really tasty. The space was clean and had a decent amount of seating. Hands down, Prufrock Coffee is one of the best coffee shops I've been to in Indiana! They recently opened, and we had the pleasure of hosting their coffee cart at my workplace to celebrate our staff. The compliments were endless--everyone's already asking when Prufrock can come back (ideally every day!). They offer both a coffee cart and trailer service, which was super easy to arrange, and we'll definitely be booking them again in the future. After our event, I finally stopped by their shop in Carmel, IN--and wow, it did not disappoint. You really can't go wrong with coffee in a can, especially when it's the best blueberry vanilla iced latte I've ever had. The owners and staff are genuinely wonderful people who clearly care about what they do. No hand crafted syrup, not balanced with quality espresso or rewarding any sip like a cup double the cost of Panera! I don't understand these Indy coffee shops tempting ten bucks for one drink. Blue Mind, Bovaconti, Gaia, Coat Check, Tinker, and others play in the pricy park because they offer house made ingredients and a sublime coffee craft. My daughter had told me about this place so I decided to give it a try. It is a little difficult to find as the entrance seems to be in the back but once we found it we were fine. It is very nice and airy inside. I ordered at the counter and got a lavender vanilla latte. I found a table and they brought the drink over when they had finished making it. The place is small but it is very inviting. The ladies behind the counter were very nice and cheery. The drink itself was excellent but I thought it was a bit expensive for the size. Ay dios mio. I don't often leave two-star reviews -- in fact, I can't remember the last time I did -- but my experience at Prufrock leaves me no choice. Judging from the other great reviews, maybe I visited on an off day? I hope so. My experience was just a bunch of little things that added up to me leaving and saying to myself, "Nope! There are too many dang coffee shops in Carmel to come back here." This review is going to sound grouchy, or like I'm channelling Alexander from the children's book "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good Very Bad Day," where he just rants about all of the petty things that upset him. Even so, I guess I'll just jump right into listing the offenses! I ordered a small Earl Grey tea, and they brought out a whole pot of tea. You're probably thinking, "Wow! A pot of tea is way better than a small cup of tea! Especially if you're paying the same price!" But I didn't have time to enjoy a whole pot of tea, and there's no mention on the menu that when you order tea, you're getting a whole pot. I just wanted to sit and enjoy one cup of tea. The tea was brought out on a warped piece of unstable wood, and my tea cup was on a saucer that didn't fit, so my tea cup kept wobbling as I poured my tea. I've burnt my hand on boiling water before -- it ain't fun. I had to maneuver everything onto the table and discard the decorative but useless wood platter and saucer. I also ordered a Turkish coffee, and it was served in a Dixie cup, and about half of it was muddy grounds. Now, I know Turkish coffee is made with coffee powder and you're supposed to expect some sediment, but this didn't taste like it was made right at all. It was a couple of sips of coffee followed by tarry black sludge. I also got an almond croissant, and it was very dry and stale. You guys: I love almond croissants more than almost any pastry, and your girl can put one down in minutes. But this one tasted like it had been sitting out, and I couldn't bring myself to finish it. Not finish an almond croissant! It made me sad. The place is small and every seat counts, yet there were unbussed tables, and the people who were working were either talking (like straight up having a five minute conversation next to the table that needed to be cleaned) or staring off into space. One of the rugs was curled up all along the edge and was a tripping hazard. My table was wobbly. I hate that this was my experience! It really pains me to leave two-star reviews, because I want every coffee shop and restaurant and etcetera to succeed. But it was like they just didn't care here, and they didn't care that they didn't care. I almost want to come back on a different day to see if maybe, magically, none of these things are an issue, but I don't know if I care enough to find out. read more

My journey to find coffee I enjoy and try all the local coffee shops brought me to Prufrock's newest location in Carmel. Judging from the very long line out the door, this must be pretty great. Right?? The interior is cute; love the book wall (I am a librarian afterall)! Not a ton of seating and every spot was full plus the line to get in congested up the space, making it crowded when waiting for your order and trying to get out the door. I did not try the pastries, but the coffee? Very average. I had a vanilla honey latte that was served in a can. I really don't love when drinks come like that. I can't explain it but I think it always makes them taste off. My latte was basically flavored milk. Hardly any coffee taste and the syrup flavors were pretty weak too. I ordered a matcha latte and I thought it was just OK. Matcha didn't have much flavor. I gave it to my friend and ordered a Turkish coffee instead, which was good! I gave it four stars because the service was just not that great. The guy at the register was very new and didn't know the answers to my questions, which I understand. It was the people in the back making the drinks and bringing the drinks out that gave off a really prickly vibe. If you asked them for anything they just kind of stared at you like you were inconveniencing them. I still recommend checking out the shop! Honestly was so excited to try this place after seeing many influencers talking about it but I was underwhelmed. The turkey sandwich was really good but there was nothing special about it. The ube latte - I think called purple haze was not bad but I've had better. The service was great! The guy gave recommendations and talked with us about the different menu options, answering all of our questions. Unfortunately the place was also kind of dirty. From the bathrooms to the tables. The way they can their to-go iced drinks is a game changer! It makes it easy to shake and mix everything together before popping it open to enjoy. I tried two seasonal drinks on my visit: the purple haze and lavender velvet. I love an Ube drink so the purple haze was my favorite but both were very good! I wish the espresso flavor was just a tiny bit stronger so I might opt for an extra shot next time. Service was friendly and my drinks came out quickly. What a cute little coffee spot off the Monon in the Arts District! I've heard about the ice cream croissant and I love a new coffee spot! They offer fruity matcha and has the cutest lounging area! Sitting on the yellow couch was so cozy, giving a modern Friends vibe. Ordered multiple items off the menu, but the mocktail Nojito was very refreshing, along with the Ube Latte which I was able to get w almond milk. There are only 2 baristas so service moved a little slower but this is such a sweet spot, you don't want to rush out, although you can take things to go! We came here last weekend for a quick coffee before getting on the Monon Trail in Carmel. It's a nice little (new) coffee shop. The line was long - out the door, in fact. Indoor seating is a bit limited, but I think they're probably catering to the Monon Trail crowd who won't want to sit down for long. But, I think the wait was worth it. My iced Americano was spectacular. One of their unique offerings is that they use to-go "cans" when ordering a drink to go. See the photos for reference. Special note: For those of you who visit from out of town, be advised: You may want to leave your pretentiousness detectors at home, because you'll see plenty of ex-sorority women standing in line, with $899 strollers, their Range Rovers parked nearby, themselves and their kids dressed to the nines, and their massive lab-grown diamond wedding rings on full display. First of all I LOVE that the drink is made and then put in a little can!!! That's so cool and made of super easy to transport back to my car. Even better when I realized my car cup spot was taken because I could just put it in the side pocket of my backpack. The baristas were super helpful and quick with the drink order. The space is nice. Lots of natural light and plenty of seating even though it was late in the afternoon! My GPS sure gave me the runaround finding the place though. What a cute place! The staff was extra friendly and service was pretty quick. This is the second location (the first in SoBro). There are a few parking spots out front or a garage across the street that you can park at. The inside is decorated with art and plants and there are comfortable seating areas. The counter has pre made sandwiches, croissants, macarons, cakes etc. I tried the hot Chai. It was flavorful but will could have been stronger too. Others I was with got an iced mocha and all the iced drinks they come in a can- meaning they make them fresh for you in a plastic bottle and then affix a lid like an aluminum soda can. Interesting! I generally don't leave poor reviews for local businesses. I tried to like this place but after 5 tries, I won't be back. Pros: cute ambiance and seating area. Table games available. Accessible entrance. Cons: y'all the espresso sucks. They use high quality beans (Indie Coffee Roasters) but Prufrock butchers their shots so badly, that you can't tell. They're not dialing in, their ratios, grind, etc are all off, and so their espresso shots are all over the place (bitter, sour, weak, etc). For the price point of their drinks, it's insane they're not putting out quality. Their pastries are not that great either. They look fantastic but they taste over processed and sometimes stale. My son didn't eat his slice of chocolate cake, which is uncharacteristic. The customer service is lacking too. In my five visits, I've been treated as an inconvenience each time. It hasn't been completely unfriendly but it's close. And more importantly, my last visit, the barista decided to add a tip on herself. It was $1 so nothing I'm going to make an issue of, but that was the nail in the coffin for me. Overall, I think this place is suffering from baristas and ownership who don't really care about their product or customers. Which is unfortunate because this place could be fantastic. read more

While visiting the car show in downtown Carmel, I needed to use the bathroom and get something to eat,s so I stopped by Prufrock Coffee. I had heard wonderful things about this coffee shop, mainly for the ice cream croissant sandwich. I did not get the ice cream croissant sandwich this time around, but I did get the turkey croissant sandwich and a green tea to go. The ambiance is very nice and comfortable inside with a counter you can sit at to enjoy your coffee and pastry. The service was good from the staff, and they did a wonderful job getting the food prepared in a timely manner. The turkey croissant sandwich was Ok, but not that great. It was fresh and delicious, but just lacked a little flavor to me. The green tea was refreshing and wonderful, so that was a plus for me. I will have to come back here for the ice cream croissant sandwich because that is supposed to be an amazing dessert. Other than that, I found Prufrock Coffee to be a wonderful place for coffee and pastries, but I would not order a sandwich again since I was not crazy about the turkey croissant sandwich. It is a great addition to downtown Carmel, and I would come back here for a latte and a ice cream croissant sandwich if I am back in the area anytime soon. read more

As she was making the latte I heard her ask him how much matcha he puts in the lattes and then said "... that's it?". There is lot of seating space, but I'm not sure if I see myself working remotely from here because it was pretty busy- most people were socializing. The baristas were sweet and attentive. It's a cute cafe with cozy seating area, and I was excited to try it but did not have a good experience here. I ordered a cappuccino, which comes in two sizes and I opted for smaller one. But they charged me $0.90 more than what the menu board shows. I usually point out discrepancies like that but there were several people waiting to order behind me so I let it slide. I usually don't carry cash but had some that day I wanted to get rid of. Gave them a ten dollar bill and the lady said they didn't have change for it. So I took it back. Then gave them $6 in cash, then got my change in 11 nickels, all while she was showing no smile or making eye contact and not making any comments about having no quarters. It was awkward and strange to say the least. If I had known, I would have just used a card. I think communication and friendliness matter. When I got my coffee, I noticed that there were no napkins left so I let them know that they are out. What they brought was those brown commercial paper towels, the same one as they have at their restroom. Definitely not meant for coffees and cakes. It's just not right. Also, the floor was dirty... there were a lot of crumbs from pastries on the floor where I sat. The cappuccino was just ok, nothing special. I will not return. read more

We had a real nice conversation btw and she was quick to greet me and assist. Parking is a challenge but I asked about it and she said to park in the lot adjacent which is hard to know if you're not familiar w the area. There were some spots open in the lot marked private parking vehicles w be towed that might be ok if you get in and out quickly with a to go order. What can I say when ya want a coffee gotta get one! There really isn't a designated parking place as there are only 3-4 in front of their space and I assume that's where employees park . The business near it say only parking for their customers. It's kind of tucked away but wasn't hard to find. One of my favorite things to do is scope out new places...especially coffee lattes!! I had the hazelnut vanilla and if I'm honest I felt it could use a bit more flavoring but I'm sure it's all a matter of preferences. I'm sure they'd add more upon request but you would need to open your pop top and try it before leaving as it's sealed until opened. We got several items for our first visit to Prufrock. An almond croissant, a cold matcha, cold mocha, cold chai, and cold Spanish coffee. I found all of it to be very mid, the matcha was just your most standard matcha and I didn't taste the vanilla bean syrup addition at all. The mocha was oddly gritty. The chai was not a very good spice blend. It mostly tasted like ginger and cardamom-infused milk. It didn't have the strong accompanying flavors of star anise, cinnamon, and clove that you'd expect of a chai. The Spanish coffee was okay, I believe I have a possibly unfair bias against the coffee used at Prufrock because I believe it is dark roast and I do not like dark roast. The service was less than stellar with disengaged baristas who didn't make much eye contact or smile, but I do understand barista work is really stressful and difficult so I don't really hold it against them. I found the ambiance to be pretty standard, I expected to be blown away as this coffee shop has enjoyed some features on tiktok that enticed me to come in the first place. It's not my first pick but it may be for someone else. I did really really enjoy the can format for their to-go drinks. Super cute and convenient. read more
