I came in late and wanting a small bold and I guess they ran out and gave made me a pour-over fresh cup and boy it was delicious. I would definitely come back for more. read more

The customer service is not the greatest at this location. It ranges from know it all Baristas to clueless cashiers. I would suggest ordering via the Starbucks app to bypass the baristas and cashiers. Every once in a while I'll get great customer service, but trust me the bad out weighs the good at this location. Please avoid ordering not so popular items as you'll get a bunch of blank stares. However, this location is great with mobile orders. I've never experienced a delay in my mobile orders. Anytime they run out of an item, they always switch it out with something else at my request. read more

***Disclaimer*** This review is 100% for the wine & small bites ("Starbucks Evenings") offered from 4-10pm at this location. The service was fine- nothing special. On to the wine & food.... I asked for a recommendation between the prosecco ($10) and the sparkling rose ($9), the 'barista' said the rose was actually "really good" so that's what I ordered. It was dark red, very sweet and tasted like a wine cooler- g-A-ross. My friend got a glass of Malbec ($7), she said it was fine- the portions were pretty small for the price. And for the food... **Blue Brie Cheese, Toasted Walnut Cranberry Bread and Fig Preserves- Nice size portion of the blue brie cheese, the taste and texture was lovely. The fig preserves were also good. The toasted walnut cranberry bread left something to be desired...tasted a little stale and flavorless. We asked for a few pieces of extra bread as we had a lot of cheese & preserves left- they said everything was pre-packaged so they could not give us any. Explains the stale taste of the bread...who knows when it was baked? **Parmesan Crusted Chicken Skewers with Honey Dijon Sauce Chicken breast with a Parmesan and panko breading. Served with a honey Dijon sauce. These tasted EXACTLY like those frozen chicken nuggets you buy & pop in the oven. They weren't bad but not worth $7 for two little nuggets when you can buy 2 huge bags of microwave nuggets at Jewel. The honey mustard sauce was actually pretty good. They also gave us toasted pumpkin seeds with seasoning to accompany the wine- this was a nice touch. They were crunchy and a bit spicy. Final verdict...I would suggest Starbucks steps it up or sticks to coffee. I was very excited to try out this new concept and am glad I did. I will return for my pumpkin lattes and turkey bacon breakfast sandwiches (YUM!) but go to a bar down the street for wine and apps. First of all it is not my aim to review every starbucks in the lakeview/gold coast /lincoln park area....if it was that would make me some type of caffeinated lunatic. I am reviewing this one because I am a coffee nut who just happens to like this location...available for when times it does not rain. I came here a few months before they started serving wine last year and I thought the space was odd and felt they could lose some of the homeless bum riff raff. Low and behold they got some new chairs and added a different seating structure that makes people more social and then started serving wine...voilla no more riff raff and people started enjoying themselves here. Added bonus :during the spring and summer months you can see people who are climing the wall at the health club across the street from inside if u have a seat by the window or you are seated in the outdoor patio area. Starbucks is Starbucks, but this specific location does a pretty job considering the constant rush, especially on weekends! Weekday mornings, a lot of people stop by since it's right by the train station. Not only are there are lot of people coming in and out, often there aren't many seats because of how many people stay. They have a good amount of seating varying from window seats, high tops, lounging chairs, and regular tables. The reason I knocked it a star down is because of inconsistent customer service. This is one of the bigger Starbucks in the area. There's a really nice patio area for groups and plenty of outlets and seating inside. If you're looking to get some work done, you may have to come early to stake out a chair with a back, since most of the seating inside is stools. I try to be a good customer who understands common sense and tries no to be a bother. This place has terrible service. I'm fine if they make my drink wrong, or mess something up...but here is no excuse for being extremely rude to a Gold Card memeber who is just asking for a refill (the only one--not like I was sitting int here all day) The dark haired girl who served me was condescending, rude and kept correcting me and ARGUING with me whether I was there over anhour and deserved a refill (which are always .56 cents but discounted to free for Gold Card folks) and then after saying she would give me the discount-- I gave her my card and she rang me up and discounted it 10 CENTS because I reused my cup. Nice job lady--you just lost your Starbucks a regular customer for being such a jerk. I've been in customer service before-and I've had great/excellent service at almost every starbucks I've been to. Specifically the one in the gold coast. However, I wish I could say the same about this location. This one by far has the rudest staff. Here is how my transaction went: I grabbed a lunch box. Was not greeted, the girl just scanned it then stared at me. Did not ask if I wanted anything or what my total was. I proceeded to giver her my drink order. She typed it in and stared. Did not give a total or anything. I gave her my gold member card and she scanned it and I was on my merry way. I had my drink made-the name was not called out because it was never asked. The drink itself was not called out so I had to grab the drink and read to see if it was my order. Mind you there was maybe three people in line at the time (it was not rush hour). I can't believe I care enough about a freaking Starbucks to write a review of one, but I guess my hope is that someone will see these negative ones and have a talk with the staff. They are becoming increasingly rude and pretentious. This Starbucks happens to be the one most convenient for me to visit since they're right by the el, so it'd be nice if they got their shit together. I've gotten so much attitude from one of them about a very simple order I've been getting for years (tall in a grande - for your benefit so you don't have to deal with any liquids I spill into the garbage - with light ice)....and have also overheard them being extremely mean to a customer that accidentally spilled his coffee. He was so sweet and so apologetic, but they felt the need to scorn him or ignore him regardless. This is a sizable location with friendly service and the expanded evening menu with wine and appetizer type foods. My only complaints are the dim lights which make it hard to read, and the huge unprotected doorway that results in much of the front of the space being a little chilly for my taste. Starbucks locations in Chicago are either hit or miss--the experiences are always inconsistent from one another. Today, when requesting a grande blonde, I was up-charged for a clover press and not given a pour-over for the normal price. It's frustrating that none of this is explained at the register. This location is unique in that its a night store which offers small plates and alcohol (beer and wine). The have a large patio with several seating options which is what ultimately drew me to this location. I have been to this location before and have had better experiences. Under most circumstances, I would not write a review about such a massive chain. Not due to the risk of getting scrutinized by others (Joe hippie shmo says, "dude, you're givin' in to the man! I can't believe you support such a bloodsucking cooperation!" I say, "f*** you, your armpits smell"), but because everyone who has been to Starbucks knows what to expect. Their beverage selection is the same at every location, as is their limited fare. I am not going to review the quality of ALL their drinks, because I only get americanos (simple, but delicious). So why I am writing this? Because this particular location has continuously gone above and beyond for their customers. I am always greeted in a way that's genuine, and not obnoxious (you know what I mean?) no matter if it's 5am or 5pm. The staff are all professional, personable, and good at what they do. For example: My most recent visit was at about 6am. I was walking home from the gym, and all I had was my keys, my music, and one credit card that I brought for the sole purpose of grabbing a coffee on the way home. I walked in, ordered my drink, and attempted to pay. "DENIED." Wah wah wah. Dammit. Tried again, no go. So, I hung my head in shame. My drink was already done, so it was to be a waste. I apologized, and the barista (also the manager at the time) said not to worry. She'll front me the drink, and whenever I get a chance I can come back and pay. This was a woman that I'd seen there before, but it's not like we knew each other. She probably didn't know/recognize me, so this was a leap of faith. I was very grateful, and walked out with a lovely drink and a big smile. Oh, and yes, on my way to work I did stop off to pay. I am certainly going to continue to frequent this particular place for as long as I can afford it (duration is questionable). On those mornings when I am too lazy to make my own, it's a guarantee I'll stumble in because I need coffee. NEED IT! Regardless of all the downsides to any major chain coffee shop, this place receives 5 stars for outstanding (!!!!!!) customer service! read more

The baristas here have, in their words "forgotten to steam the milk that time!" Thus a "hot" beverage served ice cold. I've also had them hand me a latte that they "forgot" to put the expresso in (warm milk and foam, anyone?) And, I have to say, they sure take their sweet time making all these mistakes. I rarely go to Starbucks, but this one looked so fancy and had a pretty patio area! AND they have wine!?! AND they make coffee with a Clever?!? I didn't get to try the Clever coffee (but I should! I'm a fan of single-pour brewing), but I DID order some wine. I saw the little bottle of Prosecco and ordered that...which is $10? Kind of expensive...also I suspect they didn't pour the whole bottle into the glass. It did come with some seasoned (I wanna say) pumpkin seeds, which was cute. The man taking my order didn't seem to be in a good mood, but he wasn't mean. It just made me appreciate the times I've had great customer service at other places. So, I'll have to come back and try that coffee. I don't know if I'd get wine again, because it's pretty pricey...about as expensive as at a nice wine bar, and I'd rather just go to some of my favorite local spots for a $6-$7 glass. read more

I love this starbucks. It's as good as starbucks gets. They have a huge beautiful outdoor patio. They have awesome and varied seating inside. A huge picture window looking out on diversey where you can sit at barstools and use your computer. They have approaching infinity outlets for laptops. A dozen comfy chairs. My one complaint is the bandwidth of the internet drags with such a huge crowd of people but with just IMing and emails it's ok. They have BOOZE in the afternoons! read more

This is the first Starbucks I have seen that has a big awesome outside patio with comfy looking sofas and armchairs. If I lived close to here, I would definitely come here often to study and get some Vitamin D on my skin. It is beautifully decorated and lots of people were taking advantage of this outside patio when I went on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. This is also the first Starbucks I have seen that advertised wine and fancy finger food in the evening time. I guess they are starting to make it more of a coffee shop in the daytime and bar/lounge atmosphere in the nighttime. That is a great idea! Service was efficient and they got my drink correct. When it comes to Starbucks, you know what you're getting. The menus at each franchise are just about identical, but there are distinct differences that make some branches more favorable than others. This review is meant to reflect what makes this Starbucks unique more so than the company as a whole. This location is as good as Starbucks get. They offer Starbucks Reserve coffees brewed on a Clover machine. It's so good I never order espresso drinks here. They also serve beer, wine, and small plates after 4:00. I've never done this... it seems to me there are better places in Lincoln Park to drink... but it's cool that they do it nonetheless. For frequent coffee drinkers, I also strongly recommend pursuing a Starbucks Gold Card if you do not already have one. By simply reloading and reusing a gift card, you can easily reach Gold status (which I think is worth it even under the new company rules). By doing so you get a free drink or food item after you've racked up 12 "gold stars" (items purchased). read more

I'm a former Starbucks barista so I'm pretty critical when I go into a Starbucks. I've been happy with this store since I started working a few blocks away over a year ago. I've been in all times of day and have had a good experience each time. The line usually moves pretty quickly and the employees are usually pretty friendly (there are a few who have blank stares that kinda freak me out, but for the most part people are smiling and helpful) and my drink is made correctly 9 times out of 10. So...like I said, I'm a former barista and that means I know exactly what I like and what it should taste like. I know my drink orders are completely annoying and I appreciate the patience of the employees of this store...most places the employees just roll their eyes and don't bother to double check if they have my drink right. I was just in yesterday and had the best decaf, tall, non-fat, no-whip, with foam, 2 pump gingerbread 2 pump white mocha. Usually there is too much foam or I can tell they used 2% or the syrups aren't done right. Anyway, I realize I'm an annoying customer but that never seems to bother them! My only complaint is it's a little messy sometimes. Compared to a lot of Starbucks in the city this one is super clean, but like I said, I'm critical... Oh, and in nice weather the paito is set up and is HUGE...super nice in the summer-it's shaded by some trees so it's a great place to relax on a sunny day! read more

Hey, Starbucks is Starbucks, and they are kind of annoying to me for many reasons. BUT, this place isn't all bad. I once tried to pillage the wi-fi outside of here, and the guy told me I could sit on the patio even after the store closed. He let me know that I couldn't get on their network without a T-Mobile account password, but that there were usually free wi-fi waves floating around from the above apartments. They were really cool about me being there, even when I was obviously not even a customer. Props to dat. read more

This is my absolute favorite Starbucks in the city, hands down. I get on the Brown line at Diversey to go to work, and I always stop here first when I need a little pick-me-up. I've never had to wait for my drink longer than 7-10 minutes; their service is excellent and always fast. This is a huge plus, as I'm usually here around 7:50 am, and many people stop in to get their coffee before getting on the train. Today, for example, I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. My drink of choice, a mocha frap with soy, always tastes delicious. Of course it'll be a little different each time, depending on what Starbucks I go to, but I've never had a bad one here. They just finished up remodeling, and the inside looks great; very clean and calming. Even during the remodeling, however, you could still order drinks from outside. Sort of like a drive through, except it was a "walk up." I thought this was adorable, and almost wish they had this all time in the summer; it was extremely convenient. Stop in and check it out!
