Caffeine Haven or Caffeine Heaven?? One in the same I say…read more.. My first cronut experience (not my last), a Hot Toffee Crunch Cold Brew Latte that hits like no other, and a Cranberry Delight Refresher that lives up to its name! This combo made for one happy customer, let me tell you! Caffeine Haven is such a cute spot. You walk in and you can immediately tell you've just stepped into a warm, welcoming environment! They've managed to develop this really lovely and authentic community feel. Plus the decor is just too sweet. A bookshelf in the corner with some children's toys/games, little kiddie tables (too cute), and plenty of seating for the grownups too :) This place is really for everyone! Not only are the staff super friendly, but you know they know what they're doing as soon as you sip one of their brilliantly crafted beverages. The latte was my favorite. My friend ordered for us so I had no clue it was made with almond milk (I'm a whole milk girl.) But you know what, I didn't mind. It was out of this world good! Didn't overdo it with the cinnamon, it was just this perfectly sweetened and spiced warm goodness. As for the Cranberry Refresher, this was absolute perfection. Sweet and just slightly tart. Even as the ice melted, the flavor did not get diluted which is not usually the case with these types of drinks. Finally, the cronut...hello to my new friend. How I've never tried one until now I have no clue, but if they're all as good as Cafe Havens, damn... It was chewy, buttery, with that cinnamon sugar. Yum and yum, the perfect side to the delectable latte! Whether you're picking up or you decide to stay a while, you won't be disappointed! It doesn't hurt that it's only 3minutes away from a new local gem, Dollar Donuts! I highly recommend checking them both out! You won't be disappointed :)

Along Route 9 in Lakewood Township, you will find a cozy cafe. I have been wanting to come there…read moreever since discovering it on Yelp. Brand: 5/5 From the sign to the wooden logo to the solid font, Kava Coffee House maintains a cozy aesthetic as a cafe in Lakewood. It is formally certified as a kosher eatery by the Kashrus Council of Lakewood, NJ. You will also find the wood theme plays out in the interior as well, with wooden panels and the wooden signs. Website: 5/5 The opening page offers you a glimpse into the classy design, from the images to the cool color scheme to the overall theme. I did like the interactive pages of the online menu. Kava powers the website through Order2, which has an advanced online ordering system. It also takes you to the basic description of the business, which discusses the cozy atmosphere and the extensive food selection. Wait Time: 5/5 I experienced no issues or delays with my order. Indeed, the establishment uses the name basis when announcing the order. Ambiance: 4/5 I did like the smooth jazz playing over the radio and the authentic fireplace at the center of the establishment, warming it during the winter. The wood panels on the floors and the walls evoke the cozy vibe of a cafe. Around noon, the establishment can get noisy and cluttered, though it did not prove cumbersome compared to the rickety table. I did not have any issue with the seats nor the space within the medium-sized dining area. Drink: 5/5 I ordered the Kava Supreme Frappuccino, which is their signature frappuccino, consisting of cookies & cream, caramel, peanut butter, blended with coffee, and ice cream, topped with whip cream, drizzle, and cookie crumble. It definitely has a sweet taste, but it did not overwhelm me, despite having so many ingredients. The caramel and the coffee did give it the spicy aftertaste. The ice cream did give it a smooth texture without making the frappuccino tedious to drink. Service: 5/5 I did not experience any issue with the staff. They did have patience with me when I blanked out on my order and had to return to the menu to remember what I wanted. Worth The Money?: 3/5 The Kava Supreme Frappuccino encapsulated the brand succinctly within a signature drink. The way the website uses interactive pages manages to introduce anyone to the menu items, including a section dedicated to their specialty dishes, in such a way unique to the establishment. The wait time it took to make the Kava Supreme Frappuccino matched the quality, and it did not feel tedious with nothing about the ambiance interfering my experience. The staff put a lot of effort into their dishes, and the specialty drinks are no exception. Based on my first impressions, I will say that Kava Coffee House managed to get me in a good mood with its fireplace and the smooth music. That good mood stayed with me throughout the time I enjoyed the Kava Supreme Frappuccino. The website reflects the ambiance of the business with its overall design. While the staff cooking in the background can be tedious if you sit too close to the kitchen, the noise did not burden me. Would I say that the price was worth it? I will say that I would have gotten a drink like the Kava Supreme Frappuccino to cost the same regardless of the cafe, however the other menu items did prove beyond my personal budget. Considering the maintenance of the website design and the fireplace, I will say that the ambiance and website do justify the high prices, but only a little. Rating: 5/5 Stars Between four or five stars, I ultimately chose five stars, because the experience going to Kava Coffee House made their signature drink worth it. Its taste stayed with me throughout the day. A lot of care has been put on Kava Coffee House and I have hope that it will continue to serve Lakewood Township. Recommend To... Anyone who is looking for a quick coffee without buying any additional snacks.

Big City Bagels has a prominent front easily identifiable on Aldrich Plaza. The interior has an expansive space, with many parts that make it stand out from any other bagel shop, such as a television showing the game. The logo perfectly represents the establishment, for its unique design consists of the New York City skyline, a coffee cup lid, and a half bagel as components. These directly reference Big City Bagels' origin in New York City, and their menu items which include coffee and bagels. I love how companies chock so much meaning in their logos, for it is reminiscent of the Turkic tamgas which would directly inspire the Ukrainian trident; and the Japanese mons. While I do have an issue with the name of the establishment having too much length to memorize, I do think that the logo outweighs it to the point it does not notch off a star for branding. Website: 5/5 It is simple to navigate with its abundance of information. Most of the menu items have their own images, but only by a slim majority. It offers a backstory on the restaurant, and discloses that it does offer discounts to public servants and donates to local causes. The website overall offers a wide variety of resources such as events and hiring, all within a simple color scheme that does not overwhelm you when you browse through it. Ambiance: 5/5 It can get noisy for it is a popular spot with many customers regardless of the time of day. I would say that the large space handles it quite well. It also has the appropriate temperature at this month. Service: 5/5 The staff have a cordial tie to the customers. They clearly show passion for Big City Bagels. Wait Time: 5/5 I managed to receive my order after I nearly finished writing a single paragraph in my spiral-bound journal. I commend the establishment for having a system in place to facilitate a quick order. Food: 5/5 I ordered the Buffalo Breakfast Wrap, which consists of eggs, bacon, cheese, and buffalo sauce within a spinach wrap, along with orange juice. I can say that as a night owl, this definitely woke me up with as much efficiency as a cup of coffee. The bacon had a much more profound taste than the eggs, giving the wrap a crispy taste. The wrap held together well without any of the contents falling off. The hot sauce gave the wrap a fair amount of spiciness, but not enough to give the wrap a repulsive taste, perhaps because the spinach wrap neutralized the heat. Worth The Money?: 5/5 As a father-and-son-owned eatery, Big City Bagels hopes to give back to the community, which indeed has far more benefits than any major chain eatery. I can see how they fulfill the local multiplier effect, making them a local business worth frequenting. For an establishment as bustling as Big City Bagels, you would hope that their website would catalog many images of the menu items, however there are significant gaps of menu items without images. However, as noted before, the logo itself makes Big City Bagels enjoyable, since it employs so much meaning that perfectly represents them. The preparation of the Buffalo Breakfast Wrap was appropriate for the wait time, for it steamed when I opened the foil. For personal suggestions, I would like to see more images of the menu items on the website. I would also like the see the signage outside updated to the new version of the Big City Bagel logo. I will say that factoring in the environment and the experience, the price of that Buffalo Breakfast Wrap was definitely worth it, even if the price is slightly higher. Rating: 5/5 Stars As a proud Jerseyan, this establishment destroyed any preconceptions I may have had about New York cuisine. I did offer one of the staff who served me a tip of $3.86, and whether she got it or not has weighed on my conscience. Recommend To... Anyone who knows someone in New York City, for the establishment encapsulates the New York experience with a booth and a foiled meal. I also recommend it if you are a night owl like me and need a good spicy breakfast dish to wake you up.

I ordered the Mom Burger, which is a Swiss burger topped with mushrooms on a brioche bun. It also came with a good portion of fries and a side of pickles. The burger itself was pretty solid -- good flavor and a satisfying size. At $16, the portion felt fair considering the amount of fries you get with it. One thing I noticed was an additional charge for sauces. I asked about it, and they explained that all their sauces are made in-house, which is why they charge $1 per sauce. Honestly, that makes sense when they're homemade. Now the star of the show for me was actually the drink. After looking over the menu a bit more, I decided to try the LA Metro coffee drink with almond milk. I'm not a big coffee drinker, but for $5.99, I have to say it was really good. Definitely something I'd order again. I also want to mention the customer service. The girl working at the counter was extremely nice -- probably some of the best customer service I've had in a while. She didn't rush anything, answered my questions, and was very professional and friendly. I asked about the specials, the cakes they offer, and even whether they were doing a St. Patrick's Day platter, which they are. Overall, it was a really good experience. Good food, great drink, and excellent customer service. I'd definitely recommend stopping by Taylor Sam's if you're in the area.
