Customer service isn't what this Starbucks provides you because drinks that don't always hit the mark. I've visited this location several times and there is one barista that every time she fixes the drink always seems like it's just awful. I went into the store and noticed she and another barista were making drinks. I asked the female manager on duty, whose name escapes me but starts with an A if the other barista could make the drink and was met with a bad attitude. I was told that she couldn't promise that because they were "busy." I was told that she's never heard that about the particular barista before, so I guess that just means others in Mayberry do not speak up or the barista just makes my drinks wrong, right? Needless to say I left the Starbucks and ended up calling to file a complaint with customer service. To date, I have not received any acknowledgement of the complaint from anyone associated with Starbucks because I don't think they really care. When this location first came to Mount Airy I was so excited, but now, not so much. They have really been a huge disappointment. read more

Updating my review a bit. The past few visits have been unacceptable. I don't like to be that person who croweds around where drinks come out to I will sit at a table if any are available. Even with the limited seating hardly no one is in there but all the tables remain constantly dirty. I sat at one that I thought was clean or at least didn't have visible crums and noticed to moisture rings. Then the absurd wait times for drinks. After thirty minutes I got up to inquire about my drink. I had to wait while the ladies chatting finished their conversation. When I told them what the drink was the girl looked around and seen a finished drink sitting in the area they prepare drinks. It was mine and the ice had completely melted making the drink taste awful. Every other Starbucks I've ever been to when a drink is ready they will shout the name. I don't understand why this one doesn't. I've been in some of the busiest Starbucks on the east coast and barely have to wait five minutes for a drink. Raleigh, Richmond, Charlotte all have efficent and curtious staff. This starbucks can half six or eight people during a slow time and struggle to have a drink out in less than fifteen minutes. And for the love of god please rip the speakers out of this place. I shouldn't have to yell at the person taking my order. The person shouldn't have to throw away drinks because they can't hear me. I shouldn't have to talk loudly when getting a drink with friends. I love musicals as much as the next person but I don't like hearing crappy quality songs played at top volume then have that song repeated. Play it at a reasonable volume or not at all. There is also all the boxes they have blocking up the hallway to the bathroom. The bags of trash piled up in front of where they display the cups and bags of coffee and the food. For all this clutter they never have product. The never have mint, pumpkin, strawberry refreshers, or cold brew. Consistently they are always out of drinks. This location has been around for years. Wow I went inside and ordered and had to wait 36 minutes to get a iced sugar cookie almond milk latte. There was two ladies in front of me that was it. There was only one barista taking care of all online orders, and all in-store orders. So it took forever, even though there was only two people ahead of me in the store. Our town has MUCH BETTER SERVICE at all the other coffee shops. Don't go to this Starbucks if you don't want to Wait. The iced sugar cookie latte wasn't very special either... I will go to Starbucks in another city but not really happy about this particular location. They need more workers. read more

Too bad it's not possible to rate lower than one star. We stopped by this afternoon on our way home. The time stamp on our ticket showed that Our order was placed at 3:24p. I ordered a tall cappuccino and a venti latte. There were probably 8 or 10 folks ahead of us and they also have a drive through so we expected a 10 or 15 minute wait. We received our order at 4:07p and the order was wrong. We got a grande latte and a grande cappuccino. We weren't about to wait another 45 minutes to get it corrected. The cashier seemed to be new so I didn't go back to see if they had overcharged us or not. Our prior experience here has been generally good so I find myself at a complete loss to understand the general incompetence we experienced today. The lady in front of us left twice to run a quick errand before she got her order. They appeared to be fully staffed so again, I'm at a complete loss. This Starbucks has become the biggest joke, and a lot of locals and regulars like myself have completely given up on it. Other Starbucks locations literally from Whythville VA to Winston Salem NC have heard the horror stories of how terrible the Mt. Airy location is, and for a laundry list of good reasons. For a long time they would seem to open and close the store and the lobby at random with no online warning or timeline. The only warning the lobby is closed is a faded unreadable sign at the top entryway or a piece of paper taped to the door thats unreadable until you walk up to it, and don't bother trying to use the app to order ahead like other locations. The last time I tried to order ahead I learned the lobby is closed and they had no intention of bringing the drinks out to people so I spent 40+ minutes in the drive thru trying to get a drink I already paid for. Even better I told them what I ordered at the drive thru speaker, and they waited until I got to the window to tell me they didn't know what I ordered and took several more minutes to actually make the drink. I've also explicitly said I wanted my usual drink iced and when I had to send it back because they made it hot, the employees were loudly complaining about me because I didn't tell them I wanted it iced though I repeated my order for them twice. I tried the iced pistachio latte and when I sent it back because they piled whip cream on top, I was told it was supposed to be made that way and I had ordered it wrong, which is completely bogus. The last time I even tried with them I tried an iced oatmilk and honey latte which is directly on the board and the staff was confused because they didn't know what it was, and what they attempted just tasted like sewage water. Even their hot chocolate the last time I had it was watery and somehow had no chocolate taste. The staff and drinks here used to be alright at least sometimes, but now there is absolutely nothing redeeming about this place. Unless you want to be stuck in a long annoying drive-thru line wrapped around the building just to get a likely incorrectly made drink from employees that could care less, then go to literally any other caffe in town. This place has to have one of the worst management set ups there is and it doesn't seem like there's any plans to change that in the near future. read more

This store is always busy yet they fill orders faster than most Sbux in other locations. I ordered through the app and was glad because the drive thru and mobile line were long. DO NOT GO IN THE AFTERNOON. After ordering 2 drinks that are specifically on the menu and coming out wrong (which they proceeded to tell us they don't even have) I got unbelievable attitude and again no lite ice! Edit: I had previously left a four star review I was honestly impressed for the first few weeks after we had moved down here. Yesterday I have had a bad experience in the drive-through so instead of writing a bad review based on one experience I deleted my review I came back today and had an even worse experience in the drive-through. My husband and I had ordered two large drinks both with white ice one of them came out small and neither of them had light ice when we told the woman at the drive-through window she was rude and told us that she would have to give us a refund and then re-ring up for a large drink. I've never been to a Starbucks that didn't fix your drink for free or at least say sorry We're new to the area and I've gotten the same Starbucks drink for about the past 3 years since it got a name 3 summers ago (the iced coconut milk mocha macchiato - I get cinnamon powder on mine). On the way from Maine down here there was only one other Starbucks location that actually made it correctly. Starbucks is over-rated. I've always found their coffee bitter and way overpriced.it intrigues me that folks will pay such exorbitant prices for strong taste but less of the caffeine many go there for as dark roast coffee actually has less caffeine than medium or light roast. read more

The employees could use some customer service training. I don't need to be gushed over, but I would appreciate a good morning or any acknowledgment. There was no cream available, so I took the container to the counter. The young man, without uttering a word, took the container and then took his time in refilling it. Again, without so much as a syllable spoken. The overall tone shows no management of employees. Coffee is always good, but really starts the day off poorly to receive such blatant poor service. During this insane time of the pandemic, I certainly understand closing the store earlier and opening later. Many stores have reduced hours. Starbucks, however, closes at very random times. You never know when they are going to close. I drove by recently and there was a note on the drive thru speaker stating they were closed. I went today and the line for drive-thru was wrapped around the building. I park the car to go inside just to learn the lobby is closed this week. I'm not surprised. I now have been sitting in the drive thru for at least 20 minutes. I am giving three stars because the friendly customer service is consistent. Always nice friendly faces. Inconsistent store hours is brutal on a company's success. Update: I sat in drive thru for 40 minutes ordered a coffee at kids temp. Instead of telling g me they could not do kids temp, they just gave me a cold coffee. Will not return. read more
