I visit this Starbucks on a pretty regular basis and have always had good service and consistent drinks. There is a good amount of seating and it's usually not too busy! My last visit on Sunday really made me fall in love with this specific location. The young lady taking our orders, named Lauren, made some really great suggestions around the holiday beverages. I had asked for a suggestion as I wanted to try something different and wasn't wanting another coffee. She mentioned that I could get steamed milk with gingerbread syrup instead of a gingerbread latte and so I gave it a try! She made this suggestion in the friendliest, most positive manner. I usually order delivery, and the order is wrong more often than it's not. Typically I'll receive a cookie crumble frap instead of a mocha, today I received someone else's order entirely and my refund with DoorDash was denied despite showing them that I received an order for someone named Shelby (labelled on cups) in a bag that had my name on it. One of the items I actually ordered was also in the bag, but barely half filled. Shameful for the price, so quality is lacking too. At least when the order is right, the taste is consistent. One of my favorite Starbucks in the New West area. The place is typical of Starbucks, with high countertop with high stools at the front windows, tables and chairs in the middle and comfy armchairs along the walls. It can get crowded, especially in the afternoon with students studying there or just chilling. The washroom is clean. It has quite a homely feel here with friendly baristas who will actually recognize/remember you if you are a regular. I am not here everyday, so it really took me by surprise when the barista remembered my name when I asked for a glass of water about 30 minutes after getting my coffee. I am Canadian and will NOT boycott Starbucks here in Canada because the young women and men that staff these cafes are absolutely wonderful people ...in EVERY Starbucks. There are no racial or gun issues to worry about here. I have seen Starbucks let homeless have brief naps during winter to rest and warm up and we, the patrons, support their kindness by donating coffee and food to the people. I was inspired to write this review after seeing two Excellency awards for this location. Compared to the other locations that I frequent I was slightly disappointed here. I was disappointed that some of the employees seemed more customer service oriented towards a patron from another store location. Normally this wouldn't bother me but it did slow progress and caused a lineup of people waiting for drinks. In a past life I have worked in a coffee shop and at theatres that hold 2000 people whom we would have to try and serve in a 20 minute intermission so maybe I have high standards. Once attention was taken off of said coworker service did get speedier. I will say that the service at the cash was great and the pair there were helpful. read more

I find the customer service at most Starbucks stores pretty awesome. Of course now and then you'll encounter a barista who gives you attitude, but it's few and far between. This location is no exception. I've come here a couple times in the past month, as my friend just moved to the neighbourhood. The guys who work here on Sunday mornings are SO nice and SO friendly, I love it. They're super accommodating no matter what your request is, which I really appreciate. Most other coffee shops could learn a thing or two from this crew. read more

Are all Starbucks the same? This is definitely one of the better ones! Lots of seats, a good mix of chairs with tables and couches. Both windows have bar stools so if you want to sit and watch the world go by. There is the potential for a big patio (the bar next door has got one) but unfortunately they are not taking advantage of the opportunity. The staff are friendly, and even though the lineups can get a bit long occasionally I found service to be quick. A great place to loose an hour :) read more

What? Have I never given my local Starbucks some love? This is a great location inside a heritage building right on the corner of 6th and Columbia Street. Columbia itself has become a pretty happening street. This Starbucks is perfect for people watching, either from the stools at the window or the tables on the sidewalk. And say what you want about the coffee (and I do find the drip coffee is rather undrinkable), the people of Starbucks are always warm and friendly. There can be a line out the door sometimes because it's a small store, but the line always moves quickly. Love that Starbucks hustle, unlike that other mass-market coffee chain. Since I keep a Starbucks card loaded at all times, paying takes me a nanosecond. I don't go to coffee shops every day, but when I want to treat myself to a latte (winter) or iced tea-lemonade (summer), this one is always there for me. Slow as molasses. 15 minute wait for a coffee. I can see the cashier looking at the crowd waiting, looking at the barista and being concerned that the wait times is unusually long for this time and location. But it looks like he can do nothing about it. read more

Pretty standard Starbucks, on a prime location on Columbia close to Columbia Skytrain. It's in a beautiful old heritage building and had a very small amount of outdoor seating in the sidewalk. Inside there's also somewhat limited seating - it's not a big location by any means but there's free wifi and they don't bug you to leave as soon as you've finished your coffee. The tall chairs/table at the front windows would probably be the best for working and/or people watching. This Starbucks is right around the corner from my sister's condo and on the way to the Skytrain so I'm sure I'll be visiting again. read more

This is a friendly neighbourhood Starbucks that always seems to be bustling. I enjoy coming here as it is in my neighbourhood and the staff are great. The Starbucks is a destination on Columbia Street. I've never had to wait more than five minutes at the till, and to pick up my coffee as well. There's plenty of seating inside with a mix of tables and couches. Bar seating is available at the front windows overlooking Columbia. Outside, there is a small patio with a couple of tables which I have enjoyed. I like coming here to read and hang out, and for the occasional coffee date. read more
