Starbucks was never my go-to coffee, but I am SO grateful for this location and the coffee has really grown on me. So many things are closed on Sundays in walla walla, or don't open until mid morning and I can't count how many times this Starbucks has saved me! I've always had great customer service experience here and prompt correct orders. It's very clean and well decorated which makes it a fun place to come and hangout. I love the americanos with steamed soy milk, oat milk lattes, and the chocolate almond milk cold brews. I got my free birthday treat here this summer and EVERYONE said happy birthday to me and even wrote it on my birthday bagel. Made my day! I have been partaking in the Coffee Tasting Lesson with one of the Coffee Masters every Thursday evening for several weeks and really needed to write another review on this Starbucks. So, here it is. No, it isn't a locally owned place unless you count the fact that this Starbucks is in Washington state and the owner of Starbucks lived in Washington state at one time (maybe still does). Oh wait, I do believe it is locally owned, as long as some of the locals own shares, right? However, the baristas here do really give it that sense of a locally owned store. After all, aren't they "partners"? They do a great job of welcoming anyone and everyone here, including local teens who need a grande of ice water. I really love coming here for coffee and for my coffee lesson once a week. I've learned a lot about coffee and food pairing (who knew it was like wine?) and about the beans, reserves, all types of information that I know will come in handy in a trivia contest. The Christmas season draws to a close and this Starbucks continues to remain a 5-star establishment. The decor was upgraded in 2015 and although the comfy couch bit the dust, there are still two soft chairs that are sometimes empty and grabable (is that a word?). The baristas are still expert at making any Starbucks drink you want. They will check the quality of the shots before serving them. You can rely on full-bodied coffee flavor in your drink. If you are a regular, they will remember your drink and serve it to you with a smile and a brief comment about some relevant snippet. Even though this is a chain store, it still employs local people and thus contributes to the local economy. You will not go wrong if you try this Starbucks which is smack in the center of downtown. read more

I do not enjoy writing negative reviews. Some people love it... I dread it. But - when someone is a rude as the barista I encountered in this Starbucks, I just have to say something. Let me start by saying that I may have brought this on myself. See, when I pulled up to Starbucks I noticed that their neighbor was a cute, local coffee shop, yet I still (because I am a creature of habit) went into SB. So I guess, in a weird karma sort-of way... I got what I deserve? Anyway - to make a medium sized story short - the barista that made my coffee is not a pleasant person. She was working fast, I'll give her that, but she was also non-stop talking to her friend who was seated right by the spot where you pick up your items. She would say the name of the person so fast, and then go back to her conversation, that it was hard to know if she called your name or not. I guess I missed her saying "Laurie" when my oatmeal was ready. After about 5 or 6 mins I hear (in a b*tchy tone) "Laurie your oatmeal is still on the counter". It was like being yelled at by your mom for not picking up your shoes. I was annoyed, but just brushed it off and sat back down. After eating, I went back up to get a sleeve for my cup. I didn't see them, so I asked Ms. Sunshine "could I have a sleeve?" and I got a sharp "they're right here" remark back as she picked one up and shoved it towards me. It's hard to express how rude it was without actually hearing her tone and seeing her snappy body language. I didn't need her to be all smiles and rainbows...... but she could tone down the "I hate customers" attitude some. Needless to say, this morning I did NOT go into SB, but into the local coffee shop next door instead. And I think I made the right decision. It was delicious and, more importantly to me, friendly! read more

Holy Moly where do I even start. I think ill start with this... PAIGE PAIGE PAIGE. Not only is she an amazing barista but she has made stopping at this Starbucks my favorite part of my morning routine. My drink is complicated as it involves steaming soy milk which I know can be quite challenging but she steams it to perfection every time. I can say in all honesty that I have never met anyone that can froth the way she can. I've never seen a Starbucks work so hard so much. Most that I have seen have a busy time and periodic rushes. This downtown coffee staple always seems to be packed but the baristas don't slow down. My admiration and respect to the hardworking individuals that work here. I recommend any drink that you know to like. (Pro tip: The more calories it has, the better it tastes.) read more

It's 7:30 on a Saturday morning. Four employees are noted, one at the cash register, who says hello, one behind the bar making drinks, another stocking, and the last one is in the back. The store opens at 5:30am. Granted one of them may be on break. Who knows. But there are 4-5 people in line waiting to order and pay for their drinks. No one else is offering to take orders, expedite, etc. The coffee shop is not packed, less than 10 people. And yet the wait time for your coffee is 7-10 mins of from you walking in the door to waiting for the barista to call out your drink while they are chatting with another coworker. They changed out their espresso machines from the old school pull your own shot to the quick and automatic drinks to help speed up the process, yet that hasn't helped this location. It seems consistently slow/mediocre. Customer service is barely there and no one knows how to have a conversation with a customer who is waiting. As a fellow starbucks employee, morning shift was one of my favorites, you would see your regulars, know that you are making them a quality drink to start their day and get them out the door as quick as possible. If the there were people lining up, other staff would help out, especially the manager. I chose to go to this location today as it was on my way to work, and I thought it would be quick. I'll think twice about going here next time. read more

Walla Walla, WA, Starbucks at 28 E Main Street. I didn't get a positive feel when I entered. The staff was rude and snobby. They didn't ask my name for my drink, they just yelled out the drink for whomever. They wouldn't sell me a breakfast sandwich unless I had it heated. I wanted it for the next morning. Never had I had THAT say to me before. Aren't these sealed in a plastic bag and kept in the refrigerator?! I will not return to this location, and unless you are desperate, I suggest you don't either. read more

Let me start off with, I actually downloaded yelp specifically for this review. I have never had such a unprofessional experience at a Starbucks before. Alexis took mine and my families order with a rush, when there was not a person in line behind us. She didn't want to answer any questions, even the simple question of what kind of a muffin one was. After we were done she went straight to the back of the store which made it obvious she wanted to get back to chatting with coworkers. (We could see them through the window) I am shocked and appalled that a Starbucks employee would treat my family like that. Definite dirty looks and judgement from Alexis made me feel so uncertain about this store. Please, please, please do something about those girls, not one of them was wanting to do their job. read more

Too crowded and noisy. Not a good place to go to just hang out. You can't hear the person across the table from you. Their hot chocolate is very good. The staff! Excellent. The sad part is that on weekends we have to give up "our Bux" for all the tourists. It's also nice to have the recent addition of a clover machine and the exotic coffees.
