Weaverville is a historic gold rush town. I stopped by this candy store. This shop was full of sweets and some nostalgic cash registers and weighing scales. They sold shirts and some apparel, unique goods and made in America souvenirs. Aside from seeing all the vintage candies (Pop Rocks, Bottle Caps, Charleston Chew, 5th Avenue, Tootsie Rolls, etc) they had a little section with lots of... yup! stickers! Yay! I grabbed one for my collection. Cool store with lots of cool souvenir merchandise. Had we explored this way first we would've dined in their eatery for lunch and order an ice cream cone for dessert. He made us a couple of smoothies and a Crunch Bowl with homemade granola, and everything was amazing. We originally ordered just one Crunch Bowl, but after trying it, we had to go back inside and order a second one, that's how good it was! The homemade granola was incredible. For drinks, we had the Chocolate Nana Coffee smoothie, the Peach Pineapple Banana smoothie, and a blue raspberry Italian soda. Every single item was fresh, delicious, and perfectly made. What really made this place special, though, was the hospitality. We didn't just leave happy with our food and drinks, we left feeling appreciated as customers because of our interaction with the owner. We were two-wheeled pilgrims, dust-caked and hungry, and Papa Dogs Tap House and Deli was exactly the kind of gritty oasis we needed. This ain't some polished, pretentious joint. Papa Dogs has a real, lived-in feel, a kind of cute and quaint charm that still feels authentically small-town. I ordered the Albuquerque turkey, it was the perfect combo of flavors and the super cold pineapple hard cider was much appreciated. They were out of chips so I skipped on that (obviously) The folks working there? Solid. No fuss, no fake smiles, just genuinely kind and efficient. But let me tell you, the true salvation, the damn highlight of this whole pit stop, was that patio. We peeled off our helmets, stretched out, and let the Weaverville air wash over us.
