This place is a must if you're stopping to eat in Weaverville. A fun vibe with a ton of beverage and food options. We were there for breakfast and I had the breakfast burrito with tomato basil tortilla that was excellent. We popped in for lunch during the holidays for a quick bite to eat. It's conveniently located on the strip of Downtown Weaverville inside a cute exposed brick building. The establishment was clean and had adorable gifts and decorations that ranged from llamas stuffies, comic books and Sasquatch mugs. The guy that helped us behind the counter was so polite and super helpful. The food was great and the soup was bomb. The coffee was really good too. We would definitely come back and bookmark this place for future visits. It was a nice surprise and exactly what we needed on this rainy day. Ordered: oat milk americano, chicken salad spinach wrap, bowl of sweet potato curry soup (it was vegan) and a side of fries. They also serve beers. Quirky decor inside. Food wasn't anything to rave about. Ordered a breakfast burrito which looked exactly like something I could have made at home. Strawberry shortcake latte did not taste anything like strawberry at all. Plenty of seating. Friendly staff. This is right across the street from the Weaverville Hotel and Emporium I was staying at, so this was a huge convenience. EVERYONE was wearing a mask in here. This place reminded me of a couple hip places we have here in the Bay Area. They have a lot of drinks, food, and Marvel/DC Universe merchandise for sale here. Very cool place. We ordered the Bishop Sandwich, Caprese Fries, Spicy Benjamin Sandwich, Caprese Sandwich, and an Italian soda here. I loved the Caprese fries, I thought it was delicious. The sauce and cheese and tomatoes all complemented each other very well. I do wish the fries were crispier, but it was still good. My girlfriend tried the Caprese sandwich, but I heard it was unremarkable. The Spicy Benjamin was super good and it had the RIGHT amount of kick to it. As a Half-Korean and Half-Vietnamese person, I approve of their perfect heat level on this sandwich. Now this is where it pains me to deduct a star. We found a hair on the Bishop Sandwich. There was also a piece of what looked like lint on it too. I didn't take a picture since I was on the road while eating, but I had to try hard not to gag and dry-heave as my girlfriend pulled them out. I still finished the sandwich, because I thought it tasted good. But I will probably never order the Bishop again in the future. The Italian soda was good. Something that can be found anywhere here in the Bay Area. The service here was exceptional. The lady wearing the Pink Floyd shirt with the partially blonde dyed ponytail was SUPER nice to us. She deserves a raise easily. If it wasn't for her, I would have given this place 3 stars for the mishap on the Bishop sandwich. But her customer service made me change this to 4 stars. Would I come here again? Yes. And I hope my next visit in the future won't have anything that will make me want to vomit. I hope they maintain their customer service level here, because that lady elevated it to a high level for me. I will have high expectations the next time I come back. read more

Visiting family in town and found this nice little place downtown for breakfast. The staff is very nice; one of them started signing to the music and she is really good! Breakfast burrito fresh and yummy. Choice of tortillas found me with wheat. They were nice brought to put a fruit bowl together for me. We stopped here passing through town. It was just okay. I had the cheesy potatoes and asked for sunny side up eggs to be added only to find out they only had scrambled eggs. It was served open faced on facaccia bread, with melted cheese and pesto sauce. One of the best sandwiches I have had. 4 other friends took our advice and also ate here and loved it. Yum. We stopped for a quick bite while out shopping, and we were pleasantly surprised. The vegetarian options made my daughter happy and she thoroughly enjoyed the Grilled Sammie very much. I had the BLAST and it was also very good. But the fries are where it's at. My absolute favorite kind of fries, hand cut and kind of soft, YOL! (yum out loud). What put the whole experience over the top were the staff, friendly, fun and so nice. The only criticism is that the cisbatta could have been toastier and the sauce on the BLAST was delicious but not enough, so the sandwich was a bit dry. We will be back. read more

Awesome coffee house that rivals many a city coffee house. Lots of good coffees and Tazo teas and a large, dizzying selection of flavor syrups for coffees and Italian sodas. Cute section of entertaining nick knacks, and a section of hard to find/not necessarily mainstream CD's and books. They support local causes, such as when the wildfires nearby threatened the town they participated in the fundraiser for the volunteer fire crew. Another great thing: the events calendar. Since they are housed in a very large space they have room for hosting live music nights. These are usually little-known but well-followed musicians and groups that are eclectic and making new niches in the music world. I haven't been able to make it to any of their shows yet but after reading about some of their recent shows, there are some musicians I really wished I would have seen. read more

I really enjoyed the vibe at Mamma Llama. In an extremely small town like Weaverville, you need a place that seems like a big city, hipster restaurant that caters to the youth and young adults in the town. It's half comic book store, half cafe, and from what I was seeing on the walls, they have live music from time to time. It seemed like a restaurant straight out of the show Smallville, which is dope in my book! The food was tasty and superb for the area. They sell green smoothies for the hippies and health conscious folks of the town and, wine and beer if you just want to sit and relax after a hard day's work. I came in for lunch while on business in town and ordered a basket of their cheddar bacon fries and this delicious sandwich called the Nirvana. The bacon on the fries was soooo yummy! It was real bacon, which meant real fat and real good! The Nirvana was equally as amazing. It had roast beef, bacon, cream cheese, jalapenos, and this spicy sauce which was perfect! I'm a person who typically douses their food in hot sauce and they actually had one of my favorite sauces there, El Yucateco, so I grabbed it ready to pour on my sammich. After the first bite though, I realized the sandwich bit back! No additional hot sauce needed! All-in-all, if I'm ever in Weaverville again, I would definitely come back and will be recommending this place to my co-workers who will work here in the future. read more

Eeeek me thinks not... We were driving from the Pacific ocean inland and desperate for a bite when we stopped in this little town frozen in time. Almost everything was closed - except for the small health food market and Mamma Llama. The market left a lot to be wanting - no grab & go items like salads or even a banana! So we wandered down to the eatery. The place was packed. I guess we weren't the only ones looking for lunch. Surprisingly, they have great Yelp reviews which left us hopeful for a hidden gem. We were sadly disappointed. Chicken tenders were sickeningly sweet (maple syrup in the chicken/batter) and grilled cheese sandwich was inedible. Seriously, how hard do you have to try to f-up a grilled cheese? Driving out of town we saw a Subway on the far end of town. On a cool, cloudy day at the end of May, I rode the KTM up and down mountains and along rivers following twisty Highway 3 to Weaverville. (Snow already melted​ from the passes.) In the old downtown section, Mama Llama is located in a long​ narrow room in one of the old brick buildings that give a 19th Century ambiance. It's a hip place with framed rare comics for sale on the walls with a small selection of current comics and CDs for sale in a rack. (First​ time I had seen a Bob Hope Comic.) Order your food and drinks from the counter. My Bishop sandwich was ciabatta bread with pesto, ham, melted provolone and cheddar cheese, avocado, and tomato plus tortilla chips.
