I just visited this location to use a Starbucks reward that was close to expiring. I decided to use it for dinner since it's good for any menu item, so I figured I'd might as well get as much bang for my buck as I can and use it for a sandwich. The woman taking my order seemed rather unfriendly. I tried ordering a "protein box" which she looked for then told me was out of stock. This then repeated three more times- I tried ordering multiple food items and she told me they were ALL out of stock except she didn't even check after her first trip to the fridge. I gave up on ordering food I actually wanted to eat and asked what was available and settled for a very pathetic mushy microwaved egg sandwich. (Really didn't succeed at the most bang for my buck thing, but at that point it felt like a miracle this location even had a food product) Out of curiosity, after leaving the store I checked the app where INTERESTINGLY all of the food items I tried ordering except for one of them were listed as in stock at this location. So either the employee didn't feel like helping me or there's a significant disconnect between the app and the store, but regardless there's an issue here that needs to be resolved. read more

I have been here many times and it seems that 9 times out of 10 the drive thru is THE SLOWEST I have ever seen. Everytime I decide to risk it and go through the drive thru I end up screwed! Because of the way the drive thru is set up, once you are in it, you can't get out. There is no extra room if you want to bail and leave. you are held hostage. I have sat 15- 20 minutes in drive thru before. No joke. They have to do something. This needs fixing! read more

Don't come to this Starbucks unless you want to leave itching. This location has a SERIOUS bug problem, and you will sit there for hours swatting bugs. I suggest bringing bug repellent. I think I killed about 35 within a 2 hour period. I'm going home to take a shower. Oh, and you'll wait a good 15 minutes before you get your bakery items, don't expect them to be too warm. read more

The best part of visiting this Starbucks is it has made me appreciate my local Starbucks baristas much, much more. As everyone has said, be prepared to wait. When my daughter said, before we ordered (because we'd already waited fifteen minutes in the drive through), "Why don't we just back up and leave?", I pointed out we were boxed in and couldn't leave. Of particular delight was the employee who came out the back door, next to the drive thru sign, and proceeded to smoke. It enabled all us customers to enjoy that lovely fragrance right along with him (and my windows were up--the door is literally less than ten feet from the drive thru). After waiting for twenty minutes, they tried to give one of our drinks to us with a dome lid and no whipped cream because they "ran out". But suddenly, the whipped cream fairy appeared. She had actually made some more! What a mess. I can't believe it's been a year since my initial review of this Starbucks. I need to upgrade the star rating as service has greatly improved. Yes, it's still the busiest of the four SB locations in Williamsburg, especially on the weekends during the regular college semester, but they have been more adequately staffed to handle the traffic, both for in-store patrons and at the drive-thru. The layout of the store is efficient- nice combination of comfy seats, high tops, and a sizable table with outlets for long study/work sessions. read more

I can now say I've waited for 30 minutes in a Starbucks drive through. As a former barista I know this is absurd.

Drive-thru service was fast, order (iced caramel macchiato-upside down) was accurate & good. Young lady at window was polite & friendly!

Staff was unhelpful. They only had pikes place even though they advertised a dark roast. I have never liked pikes place so...staff tild me clover dark roast was about the same price as regular coffee. Its about twice as much. Didn't offer any alternatives. read more

This is the worst, slowest Starbucks ever. Their drive thru line is always packed and stuck. They always mess up orders. Today, five of them were working and they messed up my order and took -not exaggerating- 20 minutes to get a croissant. I guess I had very different experiences than many of the other reviewers, because after stopping by several days over a few weeks time to wait out traffic on 60, I actually think pretty highly of it! The employees were always welcoming and smiling, filled my orders quickly, and didn't give me a hard time about refills on my drinks (a 'green card' perk). I also really liked the atmosphere and layout of this location. There were several big armchairs and a ton of desk seating with available outlets. The room felt very open and the music was played obnoxiously loud. The only issues I had were that sometimes the table weren't cleaned between customers and that they didn't have paper towels in the bathrooms (probably a corporate policy, but I prefer paper towel!!--sorry trees). I never used the drive through so I can't comment on that, but I think it's cool that they even have one. They also have a large outdoor patio with chairs! Overall: I really liked coming here to kill a few hours while getting work done! Friendly and fast staff, nice atmosphere, and good coffee. Does not disappoint. read more

The servers are rude and unaccommodating. I asked for a venti blended green tea with 3 pumps of peach and a scoop of matcha in a trenta cup. I got an iced tea with dry matcha at the bottom in a venti cup. When I asked them to fix it they added more syrup and refused to put it in the bigger cup because, "we can't put blended drinks in trenta cup". then they left it in the same cup with the dry powder in the bottom. This Starbucks fails to live up the reputation of its national brand. The reason I choose to sometimes go to Starbucks is because of the consistent quality of their drinks and customer service. This is by far the slowest Starbucks I have ever been too. The staff is inefficient. I have sat in the drive through for over 45 min on multiple occasions and going inside is not much better. Be prepared to wait at least 25 min for your drink. This happens at all times of the day regardless of how busy it is. I've spent quite a bit of time in my life drinking coffee and use to love Starbucks. I recently relocated from Florida to Williamsburg, Virginia and I must say I will go somewhere else besides this Starbucks. I've been meaning to write this review for some time after several bad experiences. Overall, the service at this store is slower than average, the store is often poorly staffed or staff are not working, the staff can be unpleasant to customers, and more often than not my drink order is not made accurately. A few recent examples: - We ordered our drinks using the mobile app and arrived at the store about five minutes later. There was one barista on duty at the time, who was handling the drive-thru and also the desk. (Another barista eventually came out from the back to assist him.) I received my drink three minutes after arrival, and the barista clarified with my daughter a detail about her drink order. We then waited 15 minutes for her drink to be made. When I questioned the barista about the missing drink, I received a flippant comment ("I forgot") and then waited another 5 minutes while he addressed two other drive-thru orders. - I ordered my venti chai latter via mobile order and found it waiting for me upon arrival. When I opened the lid, I noticed that the drink level was 2-1/2 inches below the lip of the cup. When I brought this up to the barista, she said the foam had dissipated and that it was my fault for arriving late. - We arrived at the store to find no one in line, one barista working behind the counter, and two other baristas sitting at the coffee bar near the pick-up area. We stood at the cash register waiting for someone to take our order for 5 minutes, while the three baristas enjoyed their conversation. Even though I live in the Monticello area, I now travel to the McLaws Circle Starbucks, where the service is far superior to this store. read more

This is a bad location never any parking and drive thru always slow. I went in and there us a line and not enough employees behind the counter. There additude was rude and unhelpful. My drink tasted horrible and they gave me additude about replacing. It's better to drive to one off of Richmond road or mclaws circle off of 60. read more

Today I went to Starbucks and was highly unsatisfied with the service I received. I frequently go to the Monticello location at least 5 times a week. I order the same thing every time I go. A caramel Frappuccino with extra caramel drizzle. I pay extra for my drizzle. The lady at the front handed me the drink and I noticed there was very little drizzle. So I asked that it be added. Seeing how I paid for it. According to my cup this was at 5:41:15 PM. She brings me the same Frappuccino. No caramel added. Ask me how I know!? Well the whipping cream was melted at the top. I also added caramel crunchy and they were even melting on top. Had they added the caramel I would've had a new cup, with more caramel and everything wouldn't have been melted. I'm highly disappointed. Especially when I come there 5 days a week. I've noticed the service has gotten bad. Bring back the girl Amy and the brown haired girl that always wears the white and black striped shirt. The employees that know your name by heart and take pride in their job. Oh yeah and I had a few times where they substituted reg caramel for that dark caramel. Eww. If they run out they should let the individuals know. I am truly disappointed. read more

I avoid this Starbucks whenever possible. Although it is a newer location with an updated interior, they are always extremely slow, whether there are 5 people in line or in the only customer. It probably doesn't help that there is usually an incompetent person at the cash register who can't figure out how to recharge my Starbucks card and then use it to ring me up. She also was not able to figure out how to use my "complimentary" (and hitch now only covers $4) drink card that I got the last time I came here due to their incompetence. read more

The baristas have a lot of customers, and work their hardest to get the drinks out as fast as possible. The workers are the fastest in the area, its just the volume of customers that makes the wait time slower. I imagine having to deal with so many customer complaints can wear on them emotionally, but they always deliver a drink with a smile and do the best they can to give good service, though its an intense environment. Cuddos to them, for trooping through, and I'll leave a good tip every time, especially when I have to wait a while because that probably means someone ordered like 7 frappuccino at the drive through in front of me... It happens. Lets say on average each drink takes 30-90 seconds to make, and fraps take longer because of the blender. If everyone stampedes through the drive through at once ordering on average 4 drinks per car, well, do the math on the wait time yourself before entering the line and complaining. Hardest workers around! And when they're not busy, you can bet on getting your beverage quicker than anywhere else. The clover machine is my favorite personally! Great work, baristas. My fiancee and I went by this Starbucks before heading to work. The drive thru line was super long so he decided to go inside in hopes it would speed up the process. The lady at the counter was middle aged and had her hair in a ponytail. She did not say one word to my fiancee. Didn't say hello, how are you , you know what your "supposed" to say to customers when you work in customer service, which we both do. She took his order still without speaking to him and when he said thank you guess what? She still didn't say anything. After he tipped her and proceeded out with his coffee she cut in front of him and then turned around and rolled her eyes. How do you allow this person to work in your establishment??? Not to mention this is by far the slowest location! I wouldn't have been so nice to her if I was the one who went in. read more

The service in this Starbucks is inconsistent. Sometimes they offer good service--the beverage is made fast and the people are friendly, sometimes the service is below average. It seems that there are always people in training and they have hard time to make my orders right. For example, I always bring my own cup and order tall size tea latte. They would mistake and make a coffee latte instead or they would make less than the usual amount of a tall size beverage in my own cup. Sometimes they fixed the mistake but sometimes they don't. This is the most annoying part. The place is not terribly clean either. If I have other options in Williamsburg, I probably would not come back often. read more
