Love StarCycle! I have been going to classes for about two months now after moving to the area, it's been amazing! I used to go to a CycleBar out on the east coast before moving to Seattle and was so happy to see that StarCycle is super close to me so I can keep my spin journey going. The 45 minute classes are a great, fun workout, and the instructors always bring the energy and music! Definitely worth getting the membership. I do the unlimited and try to get in 3-4 rides a week. Weekend classes do tend to fill up though so I suggest booking early! read more

I've attended several classes at StarCycle since they've opened. I wanted to take a few before I reviewed them. All in all, I really love the workout here. I started in December and as a beginner rider, I appreciated the instruction that was given by 3 different instructors in 3 different classes that I took. Before I got on a bike, I was helped with seat position, and was helped in setting up my bike for my body frame. As we got ready to start, instructors explained hand positions, what we would be doing and most importantly they explained that we needed to go at our own pace. Of course my first class was difficult, but once I got the hang of it, I got a pretty sweaty workout. I also like that the room is dark and candlelit cause it really does help me zone out of my day and get a great workout in. Everyone, from the girls at the front desk, to instructors are very friendly and already know my name only after a few classes. Classes need to be reserved in advance, which sometimes is a not a good thing if your aren't sure if you can make the class, but for me, I have found that reserving ahead of time keeps me accountable and coming back for more! I should've written this review a long time ago. I started going to StarCycle last September. I saw an ad for the first class being free which gave me no reason not to try it. I was scared. Petrified even! I'd never done a spin class before and didn't know what to expect. I was 2 years post partum and had lost all my fitness and my self confidence. 15 mins into that class, the dark candlelit studio and the amazing music had me absolutely hooked!! If you love music this is the place for you. People of all sexes, ages and body types go to StarCycle because the instructors treat you like a friend! They are ALL wonderful in their own ways. I tell people it's like my Cheers....where everybody knows my name. It's now my happy place where I go to relax, de-stress, see friendly faces and feel like a success after every class - you don't get to feel that way a lot as a stay at home mom. First time to StarCycle for me today. I've done a few spin classes over the years, but mostly as part of a gym membership, the last time probably 10 years ago. I found StarCycle to be so much more challenging and a real balanced workout. First off, I'd say that the staff here, customer service and tech experience is amazing. I did everything online, booked my session and got a personal text message to confirm and answer questions before I attended my first class. I showed up, and they knew my name and walked me through what to expect, how to setup my bike and the right hand weights for the session. BEWARE of Meredith, she's a ball of energy with a Microphone and legs that can spin the cranks like crazy. Her playlist was awesome and I found myself pushing me to the danger zone... talk to me goose (sorry just saw Top Gun Maverick and it's awesome), but I digress... the studio is nice, there are benches to change shoes, cubby areas to store your gear. Now the session I had was in a pretty darkened room, candles lit the room except for the light on the whirling dervish that is Meredith. As a first timer, it was a little bit difficult to make out what exactly everyone was doing, but then again, the darkness provided a nice level of anonymity. This first session, I held up pretty well and I'm definitely coming back to attend another class and push myself to improve. read more

I really like this spin gym; friendly instructors, great playlists, and the darkness helps with being a little nervous in front of others. Would love if the actual spin bikes were staged/elevated slightly so you could see over the person in front of you. If you have never tried cycling or you didn't have a good experience at the last cycling studio, you should really give StarCycle West Seattle a shot! It is a 45 minute cycling class with top notch instructors. These instructors are super clear in their instructions, you will know exactly what is going on throughout the 45 minute workout. The music throughout the workout motivates you throughout the entire class. There are morning and evening classes, 7 days a week. Don't have shoes with clips? No problem! They have rentals. When you walk into class, there will always be a towel and hand weights on the stationary bikes, ready for you to go. Yes, you workout your arms in cycling! The class is lit with bright lights to help you adjust your stationary bike, but once class starts, they dim down the lights and raise the music! I usually go weeknights and weekends. I am not a fan of working out, but the staff and instructors keep bringing you back! Check them out!!! :) read more

I had the most incredible experience at Star Cycle! I've always enjoyed spin class and have tried several different instructors in various locations but this place was hands down the best! When you walk in you are immediately greeted by staff. It feels more like a posh boutique or a yoga studio vs a place to do spin. It's clean and vibrant and immediately had me excited to try it out. You check in, you're given shoes for the class (which I've never experienced before) and because it was my first time there I was assisted by one of the staff members on the bike set up and getting my feet into the pedals. The classroom is a great size, not too big and not too small with a beautiful Seattle skyline mural on the back wall. On the opposite side is a wall of mirrors and a small stage for the instructor, complete with large candles in large votives. I was unaware that the spin class was done with the lights off but with the candlelight the atmosphere felt intimate and comforting. My best friend, Janice, is an instructor there and her positive energy, the way she remembers the names of the regulars, her humor and her killer music taste made the entire experience that much more enjoyable. Every other spin class I've attended only ever focused on sitting or coming up off the bike. In this class we did that at various speeds/intensities, worked arms with and without hand weights and even focused on core strengthening. So I completed a full body workout! I never felt judged or uncomfortable and if I needed to slow down or take a water break I did. I felt I could focus on me and gained strength from the energy in the classroom to push myself. I have been looking for some type of cardio/fitness routine that worked with my lifestyle for sometime and this is it! I try my best to go 2-3 times a week. Let's be honest for a minute I was out of shape I can't remember the last time I "went for a run" or "completed a work out in the gym" I also wasn't holding myself accountable and that was getting me down. Thanks to my co-worker and friend she brought me along for a free pass to check it out and three sessions later and I was signing myself up for the unlimited monthly membership! It truly is a positive uplifting environment where you don't have to nervous of being judged or frowned upon. It has been a few weeks now and I feel better mentally and physically than I have in a long time. I dare you to challenge yourself mentally, emotionally and physically and come ride with us! I've loved indoor cycling/spinning for years and have frequented many studios across TX/CA/WA... when I moved to West Seattle I was so sad to find out that the closest SoulCycle was not very convenient and no other local spin classes nearby either... but yay! StarCycle is finally here and such a welcome addition to the West Seattle community! The studio is modern, stylish, and clean - and just the right size, not too huge or too small. I can always get into the classes I want - even if I'm waitlisted at first I've always gotten in. I love that it's a local business and you can get to know your fellow riders and all the instructors and front desk team. Everyone who works there is so friendly and the instructors all bring their own unique energy and playlist vibes to their classes. I always leave sweaty and in a great mood. Also the unlimited monthly membership is a screamin' deal compared to most other boutique fitness studios/programs. My one request would be more theme rides and more weekday morning class times, only because I'm too lazy to get up in time for the 5:30am class but would probably get fired if I started being late to work every day after hitting the 9:30am. Luckily they have convenient evening class times and lots of weekend classes as well, so you can always find a class that works for you... no excuses! Be in your own mind and space, listen to your body, focus on you. It's amazing! Like a party on a bike. -Danielle is my fav instructor but they are all good! The Cons (hopefully will be worked out bc they are still new): - Microphone and audio issues. Lots of static, mic might stop working, some classes can barely hear the instructor. - Have to pay $3 to rent shoes every time! Even as a member! - Not many class times. SUPER limited schedule. - Girls at the desk are not super friendly. Always on their phones. - Not a lot of focus on form, tough for beginners for sure. - Waitlists are annoying and you have to sign up in advance and they charge you if you cancel within 12 hours! read more

The facility is super clean, the staff is incredibly friendly and very welcoming. And 99/month for founding membership is pretty awesome. The reason I give it a minus star is because of the class itself. The instructor was super upbeat, passionate and excited which was contagious! But as someone who is a regular indoor cyclist and has been spinning on and off for some years, I found this class difficult to keep up with. The average cadence when it wasn't a hill seemed to be about 110-115. Normally on flat road in most classes we are at about 80-90, and save the 100+ for shorter sprints. I like to cycle to the rhythm of the songs, so it was hard for me to keep up at 110+ for an entire song, several songs in a row. As a result I was a bit confused on what my resistance was supposed to be. It caused me to go off beat and messed with my cadence a bit. I think it is more of a personal preference thing. I'm used to a bit of variety during a class: sprints and HIIT, climbs and hills, with call outs for resistance. I love the studio and the staff, I just didn't find the class structure worked for me. But all in all it was a fun workout! And I'd recommend to others. read more

I'm so not a cyclist or a latest fitness trend person but I am pretty athletic and I have to say, these classes kick my butt and brighten my day at the same time! I'm a huge fan of spin for someone who struggles to workout...if you love music and moving your body and getting a good sweat, this is the place for you! The instructors are super warm, welcoming and inspiring. The first thing I noticed about the classes is the positivity surrounding the method. You won't get called out or embarrassed and the lights are dim so it really is your own ride at the experience level you want. The energy is super contagious and upbeat. Good location. Convenient parking right across the street. Be sure to bring a water bottle and wear cooling athletic attire - you will sweat a lot! read more

StarCycle is centrally located near the junction, has multiple classes throughout the day and is extremely inviting. Each class I have taken has been a challenging workout, focusing a lot of arms, strength and endurance. The instructors are positive, upbeat and are very inspiring. The studio does get hot, so don't overdress (plus it's dark so no one can see you anyway!) And there's a free parking lot across the street. I am not a spin person at all but I took my first Starcycle class in November and it was so hard! I loved the challenge so I decided to go back. Here I am about 20 classes in and I love just going in, putting my head down and getting an awesome sweat. All the instructors are encouraging and give you a fantastic workout. I was SO HAPPY to see a spin studio open up in West Seattle! I used to take spin classes in SF and found that there were no studios in Seattle so when this one opened up I was ecstatic! The studio is clean, convenient street or parking lot parking, friendly and helpful staff. I find the class to be challenging and I love that they incorporate weights and lots of push ups on the handle bars to work out your arms as well. Really happy with the studio and staff! I used to go to StarCycle Portland and freaked out with happiness to learn one opened in West Seattle. It's so great to get a high quality workout in only 45 mins. I've loved all the instructors at this location because they are supportive and inviting regardless of skill level. I still consider myself very much a beginner! Customer service is great too. I joined StarCycle when they first came to the Junction in West Seattle. Not only do I get an intense 45 minute workout but I have a great time doing it! I love that they encourage the class to work hard but also encourage and support everyone cycling at a pace that works for them. I don't write reviews on yelp - ever. I also have NEVER EVER gotten up for a 5:30 a.m. work out class consistently for two months in a row. All that changed when I started Starcycle. I am incredibly motivated by the community that attends Starcycle and also the instructors. The monthly memberships makes attending spin class daily affordable as well. I do wish they had more class time options in the am during the week or an earlier time slots on the weekends. I highly recommend trying out Starcycle! read more

I took advantage of one the free classes they were offering as part of the opening. Unfortunately I feel there were some missed opportunities that led to me getting rhabdomyolysis and being hospitalized for five days after taking the class. Let me start by saying I'm healthy and do Zumba twice per week, I hike, I road bike, take dance classes etc.. so I thought this might be a fun thing to add to my routine. Someone did help me set up the bike, but unfortunately they did not explain the resistance bar so for all I know I was on the hardest resistance all class. The room was extremely hot for my class with only one small fan. The instructor asked if there were beginners present and two of us raised our hand, but that was it, no more conversation around it so when the class started I figured the class was the class and tried to keep up. It would have been nice for the instructor to tell us as beginners that we should work ourselves up to the level of the others in the class. She should have also explained the resistance bar or had another employee show how us how it worked and set it to a comfortable level. I started to experience leg pain and the heat was overwhelming towards the end of the class so I got off the bike five minutes before the class ended. My legs were jelly and my upper thighs were in pain when I hobbled to the bench to put on my shoes. One of the employees said that if I wanted to come back for another class I could, but that was it. I went home and continued to have severe leg pain and swelling through the weekend. I had never heard of rhabdo and didn't think to link the two together, it was not until I googled spin class and leg pain that numerous articles came up about first time spin attendees contracting rhabdo. I went to urgent care the next day and after testing my blood I did indeed have rhabdo and was admitted to the hospital for five days to receive intense hydration to ease my leg pain and swelling. You can have renal failure if it goes unchecked. Needless to say I'm back on the mend, but this was an eye opening experience for me. I did contact Star Cycle to let them know this happened so they could be aware of the signs and perhaps prevent this happening to another person, but I received no response. I think more time should be spent with beginners before a class starts to make sure they understand the bike, what the class entails and that they should be told that they do need to build up to a comfortable level rather than trying to go full force. If someone seems in distress at least tell them to go home and hydrate a lot. read more
