The facility itself is perfect - clean, spacious and the perfect location to host a family event. We paid a little extra for the A/V package and the podium and microphone came in handy. While we opted to bring in our own speaker, Shawn pointed out the we could use the large tv to login to Youtube and show our uploaded videos (at no extra charge) should we need to. The Kitchen was right off the event space and was perfect for setting up our catered meals. Shawn and his team setup about 12 round tables and 4 rectangle tables (for food and such) and then asked if we need additional.. which we did and he was able to set them up ahead of our start time. All tables/chairs are included with the rental.. which saves time and money! There is an accessible patio right outside the hall that we had access to and some of my family members took advantage of the tables/chairs on the patio. Although we do not host many events in Louisville, if I ever did another I would most definitely use the Sawyer Hayes community center, without hesitation. If your local to the area or need a space ... I highly recommend this place - trust me you will not regret it!

With that said the property is now a park setting. While visiting on several occasions of the beautiful grounds to observe wildlife and evening walks and a occasional quite picnic lunch. The community center is now the main Operation's for many occasions. More information can be found by calling administrators. As for the park grounds, There is a small pavilion picnic area on the eastern portion with indoor restroom facilities. I enjoy visiting at sunset to watch the sky, wildlife as well as a walk. Calm and quite area. To watch a beautiful and tranquil sunset view I highly recommend.

I began working on the edges of Middletown almost 20 years ago, and back then there was nothing…read moremuch in Middletown that stood out other than a few local shops and cafes on Old Main Street. I also knew of Middletown and Hite Elementary, plus Eastern HS - all good schools. Now, Middletown looks different. I still work nearby and now I live just a couple of stop lights away. It continues to be a good place to shop local on Old Main, including Prickly Pear, Judy's Consignment and shops in the buildings once used as the first grocery store, or post office. Their city hall building also has a small walking circle and tables to enjoy lunch outside. A few local cafes have also remained, such as Alley Cat Cafe. During the fall they host a weekend fair, shutting down the street and shooting off fireworks. For Christmas they light the path with lights. Getting back on Shelbyville Rd, this area has popped with new businesses and restaurants. Most are chains but some are local. Check out the Cheddar Box, Paul's Fruit Market and Havana Rumba. Getting Target and Walmart in Middletown truly changed things. Nothing had been there! Now you'll find things to do and eat all the way to Gene Snyder (and beyond!) - House of Boom, Planet Fitness, Cyclebar, Club Pilates, Feeders Supply and more. Middletown is becoming a popular spot for families to purchase a home, or for new businesses to move in.

Oldham County added something new this year for Elections…read more They are allowing three days of early voting, with no excuse. It is held at the John Black Community Center. This is a wonderful facility and on voting day it was set up for election central and very well staffed. There were officials to check you in , give you a ballot and show you where you could sit and make out the ballot. Once completed you just walk over to a scanner and insert your ballot and in seconds you are on your way. No long lines to stand in and no hassels. Congratulations Oldham County. It is great to see our taxes working so well.

Attended a meeting that was being held at the Miami Township Community Center. The community center…read moreitself is part of complex that includes the Miami Township Fire Department, administration building, and the community enter. The community center faced a baseball field. The building itself looks professional with a hint of rustic. A large reception hall is available for rental. Rates vary based on day of the week, and if the party renting lives within the township/ Three Rivers area. Grounds are well maintained. Behind the building is a small playground. This is a great added bonus if throwing a party where children are to be in attendance. From the balcony the playground is visible. Many trees have been planted so that the playground is not the main focus of the view. Various public events are held here throughout the year. In August, two outdoor concerts are held. Having…read moredriven by it several times, and noticing the art installation and gardens, I was curious but never had a good reason to stop by and investigate. However, ever since I started following Art Equals on social media, I discovered that there are events open to public inside the Hellman Creative Center. It's not just Artist Studios, as the sign would suggest. And, as it turns out, I am a big fan! Open, inviting, and clean, the inside of this historic building has been beautifully renovated. There is a large meeting/conference room just off the lobby. Beyond that, there are artists' studios and a small kitchenette. I attended a Zine Lab with Art Equals and had a fantastic time learning about Zines and creating one of my one. Stop by and take part in this excellent addition to the art scene in Covington.

This building was originally a sawmill and has been beautifully redesigned as a community space, spot for artists, and people who do good in the community (refugee settlement, help with taxes, cross-cultural training, learning how to respond to conflict, etc.). My favorite space, besides the community rooms, is Empower Tools. This is a free service for those with a Kenton County library card. An individual can rent tools for their art, lawn, home repair, moving supplies, or pruning needs. You have up to 3 tools for a week, without the need to maintain them. Perfect for someone like me who struggles with all the oils and fine tuning of home equipment!

We booked it for both a corporate event for our California business and also a personal party in 2015 to entertain friends within a one hour flight from Chicago. I was referred to it by a guy in New York who was looking for a place to entertain two sets of clients, one in in Lexington and one in Louisville, at a central location around the Oaks and to do the Bourbon trail one day. It is a midpoint location part way between. They have a unique high ceiling apartment rental next door that I think you can rent in conjunction with the event space. The unit is huge. I stayed one day while I was siting my party weekend. That makes for a great place for the wedding party say or to entertain the most important clients at your event. Both the space and the loft are very unique and have a much younger/modern vibe compared to the traditional decor and architecture for this town. There is a good Mexican restaurant next door. I really liked the open layout, you could decorate it however you liked if you wanted to do a theme, but it also looks great with the minimalist shop lights and functional sliding warehouse-style door. I don't want to quote prices because it probably depends but I was surprised how reasonable it was, talk to them yourself... The primary drawbacks as I see it is there is nothing else to rent like this within 20 miles, so I probably will have to rent it several years in advance and I tend to have a hard time planning work events too far in advance so it may be booked before my 16 and 17 event is planned. I talked to Kevin, who was very informative and down to earth. I met with an owner there also who happened to be dropping by to weigh in on some details. He is a broker in this town and said he did this as a creative outlet (enjoys rehabbing historic properties) and to increase the demand for permanent housing nearby as he is an investor, so that is how he can justify to rent it out at what I calc'd to be below-market rates for this type of space. If you like modern style, high ceilings and flexible space with a nod to the past and walkability to nearby goods and services(huge factor for us) is a big consideration for you, this is your thing. Check it out for yourself ... I think you will agree with what I am saying though- the place is sharp and this town had needed something like it for a long time. Look forward to many events here.

Quaint and in the heart of sweet Shelbyville! Don't know much about price range of renting the venue but it's worth checking into for any private party or quaint wedding!!! Down side to the location is finding it! But- once you do- it so neat and special!!! To the owners- you may want to paint the back door a funky bright color for parkers that park behind the venue to find the right entrance!! And painting the front door the same! We were a bit confused of where to get in... But that seems to be an easy fix!
