Great find! This out of the way spot was quite a surprise! We had super cold and interesting draft beers, awesome potato skins and tasty "sweet & tangy" wings. We then had the pork ribs (smoked in the parking lot and tender), haddock with lemon dill sauce (with mashed and broccoli) and fried chicken sandwich. Everything we had was homemade and awesome. The fries are hand cut homemade style and one side order could have fed our whole family. The place was clean, not a ton of tables inside, big bathrooms. There seemed to be lots of locals and 3 tv sat the bar and one in the small dining room. They have lots of outdoor seating. Our bartender/server, Lindsay, was very knowledgable about the menu and preparation and made great suggestions. We will be back! read more

Wow! This was so good! Maple bacon wings = awesome! I ordered the mac and cheese burger and ended up taking off the mac/cheese/bacon and eating the burger plain because the meat was so delicious! And the fries...way too many to finish but hand cut and absolutely delicious! Everything was cooked the way I wanted it and it was all seasoned perfectly. We will be back for sure! read more

Let me preface by saying I'm a regular here during camp season or about 6 months . My experiences have mostly been good with food and staff until tonight . Checked in with hostess and was told about half hour wait for table . While waiting In parking for our table a group showed up 20 minutes after we had been waiting and got seated right away . I thought this was odd so I asked the bartender if they had call ahead or reserved seating ? She said no then became really beligerent and loud and defensive with me . I calmly asked her if why would a group that just walked in after we had been waiting got seated before us she said " honey you'll have to take that up with hostess , to which I replied my name is Rich and don't call me honey . Why would I continue to patronize a place like this that shouts at the customer as she did . I've spent plenty of money there but she just pissed me off . We've been going here since it opened and have had some of our best meals out here. We do a lot of take out from Stark House Tavern. Our meals are almost always fantastic, and when they have not been, this establishment has been more than happy to remedy the situation every single time. We got take out last night and our food was the best it has ever been. The service here has continued to improve over the last year or so, and has gone from good to excellent. Prices are reasonable for what you get, and the portions, especially for breakfast, are larger than any of the other establishments in the area. We've come to love the Tavern and will continue to spend our money with them for as long as they are open and the quality of the food they put out remains at the level it is at. read more

My wife and I drive 25 mins for burgers at Stark House Tavern. She swears it's better than a burger at Buckley's in Merrimack.

We tried this place last night after visiting Pats Peak. The food was outstanding! Everything fresh and home made. We had buffalo wings which were so crisp and meaty. The burgers were full of flavor, perfectly seasoned and cooked. The buns were toasted ever so perfectly and did not get soggy. The North of the Border appetizer was phenomenal; home made tater tot poutine. The chicken tenders were other worldly and tender. We live 2 hours away and will be making the drive again soon. SO worth it! I can't recommend this place enough. Service was outstanding. read more

The food was awful. The ribs were all fat - was able to eat maybe less than 10%. And the fries were terrible as always. Not a good place to eat. Very good food. My first time. Met my friend here on his recommendation. I had the triple play wings to start followed by the mac and cheese burger. Ya, mac and cheese on a burger! With lettuce tomato strips of onion rings and some really nicely smokey bacon. It was huge and came with lots of hot hand cut fries and a small side of very good coleslaw. My friend had their ribs and said they're always very good here. He asked for a small salad which turned out to be pretty good sized. For beer, I had the Fat Tire ale- Perfect. A good selection of tap beers and likewise with the menu: lots of choices. Arrived at around 5pm Tuesday 12/26. By 5:45 the place was full. Bartenders were right there when needed and were attentive to our drink and food orders. The owner would do good to put the menu at least on his Facebook page and eliminate links to the tavern's nonexistent website. The place is not big in size but is big in value. A wonderful diamond in the rough! My husband and I moved to New Boston from Somerville, MA and were disheartened with the lack of a "local bar" to grab a beer. Stark House Tavern (formerly Boondocks) fits the bill and then some! Hubbie and our meat-eating friends love the Triple Play wings and everything else we've had (pizza, mozzarella wedges, salads, wraps, burgers, etc) has been above average or better. Great prices and large portions. The beer selection is simply the best in the area - we've had Stone Drink By... IPAs, Maine Beer Lunch, Founders Porter, and Allagash White on tap! Stone, Lagunitas, and Oskar Blues are usually represented with at least one tap line. Massive fan, can't recommend this place enough if you're in the area. Place wasn't to bad for up in the woods of NH.. Only one waitress who also was the bartender.. We came in early afternoon dinner. She was very busy, but she kept up with it really well. There aren't many places to eat in Weare, and this is the only place that delivers. Thank goodness the food here is good and delivery is quick and reliable. We love the fried pickles, mild buffalo wings and club sandwich plates. Been here several times, a great beer selection, good service, and flavorful food. We've tried numerous appetizers and entrees - everything has been good. Triple play wings are always a favorite. Live music is a bonus. Prices are reasonable but expect to pay a bit more for the craft-style beer (they do have the cheaper light beers available as well). Everything was soo good here I wish we lived closer so we could go more often. It's a little small, they didn't have a problem with it when we went, but I wouldn't take the kids for anything but lunch and it's too far from anything to want to make it part of a date night really. Service tonight absolutely sucked!!! We were seated quickly as it was not very busy. Waitress didn't seem interested in helping us decide on drinks even when asked for suggestions! She then disappeared and came back over 30 minutes later to take our drink order. She delivered our drinks about 20 minutes later and took our order of appetizer and pizza. She even clarified that the appetizer would come out first then the pizza. About 25 minutes later our appetizer arrived with no plates, we asked for plates and waited about 5 minutes before finally digging in to it. While we did enjoy the food, we sat for over an hour after she took the appetizer tray away. When we went up to the bar to ask for our check, she said it's in the window, and brought it to us, with plates. I commented "oh we get plates now!" The waitress was like... oh... sorry. It had been sitting for a bit as it was NOT hot at all. We had to ask another server for napkins and silverware. When she returned with them she threw the down from behind the person I was with!! NOT ONCE were we approached to see how everything was or if we wanted anything else. About 30 minutes after we finished eating the waitress finally came over and asked if we wanted a box. She returned with a box and our check. Overall the food was good but the service and waitresses (2 specifically) sucked. Major attitudes and poor customer service!!!! I got takeout from here on a Friday night. I had about a 20 minute drive so I called before I left. The kid on the phone said 45 minutes to an hour for chicken tenders and fish and chips. What? Okay. I'll wait. There's no place to sit and wait. A drunk person staggered into me. Went here tonight with my boyfriend and right off the bat we knew we were in trouble. It took 10+ minutes to get a menu and have our drink orders taken. Other people who sat at the bar, probably regulars, were served before we were. It took another 10+ minutes for our order to be taken . In fact, if the bartender/waitress hadn't grabbed her pad and come down the bar to take our order when she did we would have left. Food orders sat on the kitchen shelf for at least 10 minutes while the two waitresses/bartenders "flew" around the restaurant. I repeatedly watched the two waitresses wash dirty glasses behind the bar with the three-sink method and use them right away. No time to run them through the dishwasher. We watched this chaos for more than 1 hour before the take-out girl finally left her rarely-busy post to help the women in the restaurant. Eventually, some guy who was apparently the owner or manager also showed up to change numerous kegs. Having been in the hospitality business for nearly 20 years I can say with certainty this is NO WAY to run a restaurant. We have seen this waitress/bartender approach on previous visits but hadn't waited so long for service in the past (although we did wait longer than a customer should.) Long story short, despite the tasty patty melt and chocolate cake, we will not be back. Time is a far too precious commodity to wait due to inefficiency. read more

Snowy night and we didn't want to go out to eat so we decided to order in. We had passed the Stark House a few times on 114 and when we found out they offered delivery we thought we would give it a try. We had to feed 4 adults and 7 kids and everyone wanted something different. I had the fried chicken sandwich, some of the kids had the chicken tenders and fries, some wanted pizza, another wanted mozzarella sticks and we ordered a few sandwiches. You get the point. The person that took my call was extremely helpful and friendly. Delivery was on time and the food was nice and hot. I would say the price is average for this neck of the woods. Maybe cheaper than Viksters. The quality of the food was excellent! The fries were some of the best I have had in a while and I'm not a huge fry person. Congrats to the new owners for putting together a first class operation. We will definitely repeat. Cant wait for it to get warm so I can try the ribs!! read more
