Aah, Concord. A fine city poised in a renowned history of prestige, really old looking grandfather clocks, and cozy casual grease spoon diners, apparently. Only thing....this one is odd because of its entrance. Actually, it has two. And the staff don't seem to care which one you use. You can imagine how much of a dingus I felt like after second, third, and even fourth guessing myself as I almost entered (then exited, then entered, then exited again) what appeared to be the back entrance. So, yeah. Turns out...it makes no difference which entrance you use. Because neither is the front. How do I know that? Because there was no hostess podium. Why is there no hostess podium? Because you can apparently seat yourself here. Yup, they roll like that. In fact, if I could describe this place in one word, it would be....chill. This place was very....chill. You can sit where ever you want, the food tastes homemade, and they pick up the check from the table for you (I wasn't sure if I'd have to bring the check to the front cashier like a few other casual breakfast places do). What really surprised me was the delivery time for my order. Guess how long I had to wait for my plate. Guess. You'll never guess. 5 minutes. You read that correctly. 5. Whole. Minutes. And the food still tasted fresh and delicious. I dunno how they do it. But McD's ain't got nuthin' on this place! Also....huge props to the cooks in the kitchen for ACTUALLY BUTTERING THE TOAST!! Seriously. I'd like to hand out gold stars to every chef on the job that day. Because everything from the hash to the toast tasted sensational! And yes. Toast gets butter. Always. Fight me. Moving on.. Only reason I can't go perfect on this one is because of their confusing entrance(s) configuration; plus the fact that their coffee tastes kinda lame and forgettable (almost like Folgers). The first thing I will comment on is how the staff greets you upon entry with the nicest demeanor & smiles. I felt so welcome! I hadn't been here before & to say my immediate first impression was very positive. You can seat yourself anywhere that has a table setting. My husband & chose a small, 2-seat table. Simple setting, lots of windows for natural light & cute décor. Our waitress was absolutely hilarious. I wish I had remembered her name to mention, but she had us laughing each time she came by the table. We were checked on frequently & our plates were cleared promptly when we were full. Some people naturally are charismatic & bubbly, even to strangers. The food was pretty good, nothing out of this world, but good portions & crispy homefries. I had the Blackstone benedict & my husband had the Hash benedict. As aforementioned, large portions & tasty. The Bloody Mary was a little heavy on the horseradish, but I didn't mind. We were passing through Concord on our way to Plymouth area. We stopped for breakfast and were very happy we did. We were greeted with smiles as well as very friendly waitstaff. The restaurant has a very cozy and inviting atmosphere. The food delivery was Very Fast and plentiful. I had a sausage mushroom broccoli cheese omelette with sliced tomatoes instead of the usual potatoes and toast. My husband had an egg bacon and cheese sandwich on an English muffin and really enjoyed it. The sandwich comes with two eggs which was great and made the sandwich very filling. The English muffin was grilled not toasted so he really loved everything about it. The service was excellent and very attentive. read more

I come to the Windmill 2-3x a week for work. Its hard because I have to eat a gluten free diet. I often crave homefries. When I asked if they were done on the grill or fryer they said both and then refused to do them solely on the grill. I was so disappointed! I usually end up with salad. Whenever the salads are iceburg lettuce based, there's about 4 ounces of water in the bottom of my bowl. Decent place, wish there were more affordable gluten free options. We love Jackie! read more

First time there, meal was average at best. The shepherd's pie was rather dry, but at least they know how to spell "shepherd" :-) (most other places spell it "shepards pie"). This is a really cute, homey place. We arrived here for lunch and were told to sit wherever we wanted. My parents and I sat at a booth and poured over the extensive menu. They have a little of everything here and you can order breakfast until 2. We thought about that, mom did decide to have a pancake. Dad and I both went for the Hawaiian steak tips. The restaurant was clean and the staff was super friendly and seemed to really be having fun. They were all busy refilling drinks and taking orders and cleaning up tables. It was fairly busy when we arrived and it seems they have quite a bit of local traffic here as they were talking to many customers by name. The steak tips were not what I was expecting, but they were quite good. It was essentially thin pieces of teriyaki beef with a side of green beans and fries. (I had fries, dad had mashed taters) I had a soup before the meal, which was really good. It was a homemade veggie soup. Dad opted for the cole slaw. If you want a casual place to sit and relax for awhile, this is a good place to go. It wasn't super amazing, but it was good food at a good price. read more

I am new to the Concord area. I passed by this restaurant a few times and finally had the opportunity to go in for breakfast with my husband. We did not expect to find any restaurants open on Thanksgiving morning! We really enjoyed it and plan to return again.The food was good and also a good value for the money. I liked the homey atmosphere of the decor and I want to commend our waitress, Dylan, for EXCELLENT SERVICE. She was so cheerful and obviously enjoyed working there. She is truly a "people person". I had the pleasure of having dinner at The Windmill tonight, along with my friend. She ordered the meat loaf while I opted for the fish and chips. We also got onion rings as an app, which we felt were a tad undercooked as most of the breading fell off. However, everything else was very good (though the potato could have been hotter.) The veg soup and seafood chowder were excellent. Our server, Sabrina, was welcoming, polite and efficient... as was the young man she was training. Prices seem to be in line with other similar establishments in town. Overall, we left very satisfied and look forward to trying their breakfasts! read more

The Windmill is the best! It has now become our goto restaurant when we travel to Concord! If you're a fish lover you will find that they really know how to fry fish, their portions are huge, and it's real fish, not the chopped up fish meal you get in many "fillets". The Windmill is a mainstay casual restaurant serving traditional breakfast, lunch, and dinner fare. The portions are good and the prices are reasonable. The place is usually busy during morning breakfast hours. I've dined here several times for breakfast and dinner. However, on each visit, the food has been pretty average. The coffee is brewed just right. The pancakes are on the thick side. The homefries are deep fried taters, which have a golden crispy texture outside, soft and potatoey inside. The corned beef hash is not homemade. The 3 egg omelettes are cooked blended style with plenty of ingredients and have a firm, not fluffy texture. My favorite omelette is the Land-n-Sea Omelette which has scallops, shrimp, bacon, tomatoes, and cheese, served with homefries and toast. Only one "not so great experience" was a few years ago, when I ordered the steak for dinner, which was soaked in grease and very gritty. The service has been acceptable on each visit, whether I'm dining solo or with a large group. read more

Sausage links were above average and the "home fries" were actually more like french fries, a bit of a surprise but still good and definitely better than many home fries I've had.
