My first interaction with this store was to call and see if they had a particular dress in stock. They did, not in the size we thought we needed, but the lovely lady who answered the phone told me that the dress wasn't being shipped any longer, and to caution me against ordering online. She told me to call back Friday to see if the dress was still there and they could hold it for my daughter to try on. We drove up today to try on the dress. It was perfect! Since it was a corset, it fit beautifully. We will have it altered to make it a little shorter, and my girl has her perfect dress. No one in the Bay Area had the dress. We are so excited. Before I write my review, I'll give you a bit of context in terms of the search for my wedding dress. I live in the LA area, where shopping is NEVER an issue. Being such a large city, we have every store imaginable, and anything available at any point in time. With that being said, I went to several shops all over.. Beverly Hills, Downtown LA, Orange County, the list goes on, and on. I went to at least 10 bridal shops, and tried on several wedding dresses. However, it wasn't until I was visiting family in the area, that I decided to do a quick yelp search for a bridal boutique. I reached out and they were able to fit me in during my stay, and I feel so grateful that they did! I forget the lady who assisted me in picking the dresses, but she was friendly and knew my style only after telling her a bit about my venue, and vision. I was extremely torn between 2/3 dresses she handpicked, and she was extremely patient and not pushy at all. It is a business, and after going to a variety of shops, I knew the drill. Unlike most bridal shops, Starlet is very customer oriented. They genuinely want to make sure that you enjoy your experience, while finding your dream dress. I have to say the absolute star of the show was Allison! Wow.. while speaking to her I mentioned my now husband was a firefighter, and she threw in the veil that I was eyeing, at no cost. She told me how grateful that she, and the city of Santa Rosa is to ALL firefighters because of how much they have done for the city. Mind you, I am not a resident of Santa Rosa. This completely touched me. After purchasing my dress, Allison let me know when it had arrived and I booked a flight to try it on. When I returned, I brought my mother, sister, and bridal party and the Starlet staff had champagne, and sweet treats for us. We stayed a pretty long time, but Allison and her staff were patient and courteous. Starlet Bridal knows how special of a moment it is to find your dress! Originally my plan was to fly my dress back down to LA, but do to a last minute change.. I was unable to. If you are anything bigger than a size 10... DON'T. When I looked for wedding dress shops, I specifically made sure to find shops that had larger sizes to make sure I was comfortable when I got there. Upon arrival, I instantly got a feeling that this shop wasn't going to be for me. The lady who was working with me kept talking in hushed tones to the other employee, trying to figure out "what to put me in". I tried to share with her the style of dress I liked in my prior shopping trip, and she disregarded everything. At one point, she asked me what size I was, and to plan to size up 2-3 sizes. Fine, I get the educational part. Asking if I planned to lose weight? Absolutely uncalled for. The store owner came in, and the associate instantly pulled her and asked for help because she didn't think I could "fit in any" of the dresses we had pulled. I was honestly so embarrassed and uncomfortable. I wanted to cry and leave. The dresses they pulled were all opposite of what I said I wanted, and super "modest". It felt like they were trying to force me to hide my curves. Meanwhile, the bride trying on next to me was a size 4, and was being offered dress after dress and talking about how they should show her figure, etc. Being a larger bride is already difficult - let's face it, the bridal industry is for smaller bodies. But going to a shop that blatantly calls it out and makes you feel unworthy... no one should ever have to go through that. The owner turned the experience around a bit, which I am thankful for. However, her associate could use some drastic training, and learn a thing or two about bigger bodies. I would absolutely not recommend going to this shop. What a horrible experience. read more

I have always loved Starlet. Way back when I was just finishing with high school, I wandered through their old store around the corner from where they are now, and I drooled at the magnificent yards of lace, tuille, and satin. So much glamour, beading, sparkles, and jewels! Then I saw the price tags and just about wet my pants. Fast forward ten years... I started my wedding dress shopping elsewhere, and had a neutral experience. Decided to give Starlet a try because things had changed since I was the high school aged, dreamy eyed romantic, and so had my taste in fashion. It was easy to get an appointment, and they even told me they'd throw me a party if I brought my mom and at least one bridesmaid (which I was planning on doing anyway). Score! Their new location has bridal downstairs and prom/special occasion upstairs so we don't have to share try on space. We had a perfectly secluded area of the store just for ourselves, with beautifully iced petit fours, and sparkling pink lemonaid for refreshments, as trying on dresses is hard work (no seriously, it really is). The team that assisted us went out of their way to help me with trying on cumbersome corsets, awkward a-lines, bothersome buttons, and tenuous trains, but at the end...there it was. The dress of my dreams. Heck, it was so beautiful, *I* would marry myself! Hot damn. Not only did we find the dress and the veil, but we also got to try on dresses for my mom as mother of the bride, and try on bridesmaids dresses form my bridal party. because I bought my dress there, they give 10% off all accessories and 10% off all bridal party outfits, so that's worth remembering for ya'll brides. Effortless, fun, and helpful, Starlet knows what they're doing for brides in the Wine Country. FINALLY, a place where normal women can try on dresses~! Is it just me or are most wedding dress shops like the store on Mean Girls where the lady says, "We only carry sizes: 1, 3, and 5. You can try Sears." As many people know, wedding dresses run 2-4 sizes too small and send out sample sizes to stores in the equivalents to sizes 4 and 6, and sometimes 8, if you're lucky. Well, most women aren't that size unless you're a child bride. Thank goodness for Starlet Bridal. Although I had to make a 200 mile round trip from Sacramento, it was well worth it to actually be able to try on ALL the designer wedding dresses (Maggie Sottero, Sophia Tolli, Allure etc.) in NORMAL sizes. The store owner, Allie, was so welcoming and attentive. I told her exactly what I was looking for and she actually had the dress and pulled several similar dresses for me to try on. She clearly knows her stock and each designer like the back of her hand. She also makes you feel so comfortable and offered cookies, lemonade, and champagne to make the event so much more than just another trip to a store. She recognizes the little things about the experience that truly make it special. The staff are also amazing. Jennifer was so down to earth, honest, and polite. It's not everyday you have someone helping you pull your dress out from your underwear, but Jennifer does it like a pro and makes you feel at ease. I have been to 5 or 6 dress stores, both as a bride and a bridesmaid, but Starlet is hands down the best. I bought my wedding dress here with the help if Irene! It was a great experience and I ended up with the perfect dress! It wasn't what I expected but was so flattering! The entire store is also reasonably priced with all dresses under $2000. The staff here is so helpful, from trying on dresses until after the wedding! They steamed my dress and veil complementary before the wedding. I also plan on having my dress cleaned and preserved through them! They have a fair amount of selections color and size wise which was really nice to be able to try on dresses without having to order online like other places! I did not purchase a wedding dress here, only my bridesmaids dresses, so that is all I will be speaking of. One of my bridesmaid dresses arrived with blue marks all over it. I didn't realize it until I had given it to my bridesmaid hours away from Santa Rosa. I immediately called the shop and spoke with Allie. She told me to bring it back and she would have it cleaned right away. So I texted her and sent her pictures of the stains. Only to NEVER hear back from her after that. Very disappointed. Found my wedding dress at Starlet bridal. Great selection at really reasonable prices. Worth the drive from SF. Stopped in on two different occasions and both consultants were friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Definitely make an appointment, especially on the weekends. Dress was delivered early and they offered to store it for me. Not sure what packaging wedding dresses typically come in and if it's determined by the manufacturer or the store but I was expecting something a little more protective than the normal plastic garment bags you get from the dry cleaners. Tip - Really spend time to try on your actual dress once it's delivered, sit, walk around, etc. Especially if the sample size you tried on wasn't close to your size, the dress in your actual size can fit and move totally differently. read more

I was with my mom helping her find a dress for a wedding, we walked in started looking around and the lady (forget her name) looked at us all scared and surprised not knowing which language to speak and asked us "que hacen ustedes aquí?" Meaning "what are you guys doing here?" I was very surprised, I told her I spoke English and thought maybe it was HER Spanish that was bad but no, she spoke clear Spanish! My experience with Starlet was unique in that I did not purchase my wedding dress from them, but Allie was invaluable in making sure a vintage dress gifted to me in lieu of my planned dress was perfectly tailored for my wedding day, even though one of my friends was actually her bride and I was not. She recommended my dress conundrum to Lina's Alterations, when no other tailor would have accepted the project or finished in time, and and my dress was practically remade and altered expertly to fit like a glove in less than three months. Lina was hilarious in her frustrations over my vintage gown "made with no rules" (as she exclaimed often in our fittings), but she made me feel so beautiful and comfortable on my wedding day. I returned to Starlet for above mentioned friend's wedding, to find a bridesmaids dress on short notice, and Allie once again came through. For $260 including rush shipping and alterations, I have a perfectly fitted dress in the correct shade of emerald green, and she made sure we had fabric swatches, measured so expertly my dress was the exact right size and only needs a hem lift and a dart in the bust (thank you Azy!) and was lovely in the process. It was everything I thought I would have hated in a wedding dress, but it was stunning and fit like a glove to boot. It was even in my price point. The girl that helped fit me, my friends and family, and even the store owner all agreed this was my dress. I bought the dress but the engagement fell apart. Non the less, Starlet Bridal worked with me in changing my pay off date (as I was now paying it on my own and needed more time) and had it beautifully cleaned and bagged for me for pick up. This place has a lot to be desired in terms of customer service. Let me start with the good....my dress is Beautiful! However, it was ordered too big...as a result I had to have it altered. When the alterations were completed I was billed an additional $270 on top of the original $500 that I originally spent on the dress.. When I contacted Erin in the store I was told that she would check into it and get back to me. When I had not heard back in several weeks I call back again. I was told by Erin that she would only refund me $85 because it was cutting into her food budget to refund me these costs! I will be sure to share this with everyone I talk to. I am sure that I will get a lot of compliments on the dress at my wedding and I will be sure to disclose that they should not shop at Starlets! I am not sure as to why the owner of this business is stating they were accommodating to me in this issue...Me as a valued customer was the least of there worries. I was made to feel that I was LUCKY to be getting ANY ($85 only) refund of the alteration fees. I'm sure there are some of you out there that have experienced the same attitude in your purchases. Even though I didnt end up buying my dress from Starlet, I had a great experience there and would recommend them! Starlet was the very first salon that I went to on my wedding dress hunt and I was nervous and didnt know what to expect. The ladies there were super helpful and let me try on as many dresses as I wanted (although they recommended starting with 10 to not get too overwhelmed). They served sparkling wine, lemonade and cookies which made the whole experience fun and fancy. I really appreciated that they were not pushy and didnt mind when I didnt buy a dress right away (they just gave me realistic advice about when I should make sure to order by). Drove all the way from Marin without an appointment and we happened to come at a time where they could accommodate us. Kalilah was so helpful, she gave us a ton of recommendations and helped with sizing and fitting. She had mentioned that they were super low on stock but each of us had maybe 6-8 dresses we all loved. Their sizes went from 00-24 (I believe) and they had so many different types of dresses. I really do recommend this place for prom dress shopping, but I would make an appointment and if you want more options go maybe in February or early March. Starlet was my first stop and my last stop in my search for a wedding gown. I live in the North Bay and was shocked by how few bridal salons are in this area. Being the type of person who likes to know as much as possible before making a decision, I found myself driving all over the Bay Area. My first trip to Starlet was really nice. They were kind, helpful and honest. The salon itself is super cute and classy. Then I started my tour de bride. I was all over the place, and though there are lots of beautiful gowns in Burlingame, San Jose, Campell, etc... the service just didn't compare to Starlet. I came back to Starlet and bought a beautiful, couture gown for a price that I could afford (it was the sample). Beyond the wondrous joy that comes with buying your wedding gown, it is refreshing to deal with kind, honest people. I have been to Starlet many times in the past, and I recommended to my sister-in-law for her wedding dress shopping. We had our appointment last weekend. Yes, we had to be extra cautious due to the pandemic (wear our masks, wear gloves when sorting through dresses, etc.). It took us hours to find the right dress, but Starlet made the entire appointment personal, and extremely fun. I can't explain to you how great of an experience this was. I bought my wedding dress at Starlet Bridal! My consultant helped me in and out of dresses in the dressing room. She made me feel so comfortable. She could see that I was less than thrilled with the first few dresses I tried and she ran out to the showroom and came back with a dress that she thought I would like but overlooked when I was pulling dresses to try. Bought my wedding dress here! I met with Irene, she was friendly and helpful in finding a dress for me in my budget. I showed her a couple pictures and told her what I wanted to spend and she pulled a bunch of dresses for me to try which was awesome. When I went to other places I mostly picked my own which can be overwhelming, especially for me since I was unsure about what I wanted. I actually ended up picking out a dress here that I might not have picked out on my own. Would definitely recommend them! read more

As a picky bride that tried on over 100 dresses let me be clear, Starlet Bridal was not only the best bridal boutique in Sonoma County (and yes I had an appointment at every single local shop, ugh don't get me started on those reviews...) but within the bay area. During my five month search I visited several other shops within a 100 mile radius (and a few in Southern California) and none provided me with the level of service and attention that I experienced at Startlet Bridal. My search for the perfect dress actually took several research phone calls and appointments with Starlet Bridal and the ladies were always patient and helpful. I never felt pressured or coaxed into a dress that I didn't like, instead the ladies were eager to find me the dress I loved without compromising my dream. I ordered "the" dress (a Sottero and Midgley) in May and couldn't be more thrilled with my purchase. My dress actually ended up being an out of the box suggestion made by Amanda and the moment I put it on we both knew it was the one. Since purchasing my dress I have also ordered my shoes and veil from Starlet Bridal (can't wait to get it all in within a month or so!). Every single time I enter their boutique I am greeted warmly and they know who I am (unlike another local boutique with the initials WW who asked me every time I went in for my name, wedding date and location...and yes it was the same person!). For those concerned about selection I'd say they had the largest variety budget wise than the other places I'd visited. The quality of dresses they carry is significantly better than other local stores and they can cater to brides with modest or higher budgets (something the other stores seriously lacked!). read more
