arline Van Lines, and a guy named Peter specifically (I won't use his last name but please be wary of any Peter you speak with), are scam artists. I spoke with Peter for over an hour to book my move last summer, and he assured me they could stay within my budget. He sent me an itemized document saying how many boxes and what furniture would fit within the space allotted for my move. When the actual company showed up (a subcontractor, as Starline is just a middleman), the ultimate costs ended up being nearly twice as much as what I was quoted, despite the actual amount of stuff I was moving being smaller than what was on the document Peter sent me. The man who decided that I had too much stuff for the allotted space (and increased my price) was literally just eyeballing it - which either means he was making up numbers, that Peter is totally incompetent at his job, and/or the whole thing is a scam designed to take advantage of people during one of the most stress-inducing life events. I couldn't get ahold of Peter on the day of the move because it was a Sunday, and he had only given me his direct line and not a weekend-available customer service line (and I was too stressed from arguing with the mover to think straight). When I tried to contact Peter several times in the days following, he never returned my calls or answered my emails. I have not heard from him at all. our move was August 12 2025 and it was Horrible, horrible; when they arrived with just two guys they had no equipment we have 2 stand up pianos which were also damage but they don't cover pianos on their claims by the way they also started already mentioning we would need to pay more due to bulky furniture we informed then from the beginning about how large our furniture was ended up having to pay 3k more if not our furniture would not be delivered. They showed up with 2 guys to move 2 stand up pianos a 10 foot solid wood dining table and a 600+ pounds gun safe which they were informed from the very beginning about. they damaged my table. The $10,000+ charles r sligh grandfather clock that was passed down from my late father was damaged. Table was damaged, the bed frame was broken, and there are multiple scratches on furniture with bent handles. What's worse is that for my grandfather clock, I paid extra for their "care" package, but the only care they to do is to break your furniture. My custom-made 10-foot dining table which was also passed down from my family needs to be completely refinished due to scratches left on it. My gun safe is completely scratched on the sides. I paid $14,000+ for them to be completely non caring with my furniture. They offered $78 as their settlement and in return if I accept the 78$ I needed to refrain from leaving any negative reviews or talking badly about Star Line Trucking. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!! Where do I begin? Every possible bad thing that could happen in a move happened to me with this company. They initially quoted me $3000 for my move. Then two days before I had to move someone contacted me to ask me what I was actually going to move. I had already given them the list during my initial quote. Why were they asking me again? I had already called them several times to ensure that $3000 would be the actual cost for my move given my list of items. Oh yes, they said. Well, two days prior we went through the list again and they said no way. That they could not fit everything and I should pay extra to hold extra space on the truck. So now I paid another $1500 extra to hold extra space on the truck.... Just in case. Come the day of my move they said even that was not sufficient. And now my total cost came to $6000. Total bait and switch. Then when it came time to deliver my items, they said they could not bring their 18 wheeler truck into my neighborhood and that they had to move the items to a smaller truck and that the cost of moving those items to a smaller truck was an additional $1000. So total I ended up paying $7000. But wait there's more. They lost three of my boxes, which were never recovered. Damaged most of my furniture and several of my boxes arrived broken with articles broken inside. Crushed by the weight of other boxes they stacked on top. I thought I was insured because when I signed the original $3000 proposal, they said my articles were insured for a certain value. But when it came time to load the truck for the move, I apparently signed another paper without realizing it, which stated that I was only insured for the weight of the item not the value. Another bait and switch. So now my furniture was not insured nor my lost boxes nor were any of the broken items. The damages came to over $8000. Then, to boot, they didn't deliver my things until almost a month after they picked up. It's been an absolute nightmare to work with this company and I strongly recommend you go with a company that has their own Movers not a bait and switch, scamming broker who subcontracts to whoever. DO NOT USE!!! LIARS AND SCAMMERS!!!! If I could give this company zero stars I would. They are disloyal and dishonest. We used them for our move, and they upcharged us by almost 4K. We are a military family, and my husband is a disabled veteran, who served this country for 20 years. This company took advantage of us, lied to us, and refused to refund us our money. We were originally quoted 1 thing, then it went up the 2nd time, and then a 3rd time when the drivers put everything on the truck and claimed you used a certain amount of cubic feet. We are not movers, so we blindly trusted them. These are supposed to be estimates, yet they make pay upfront. We paid the initial deposit but then were told we had to pay an additional deposit because we supposedly would need more cubic feet. This is all done prior to anyone even seeing what we needed to move. When our items arrived at our new home, the driver would not release our items unless we paid the final amount. I found this to be unfair but what can I do? They had our belongings. Once we paid, our items were offloaded and placed inside our home. After everything was offloaded, the driver told us that we only used 700 cubic feet and not 1300 like we were told and made to pay. He told us to take photos and videos and contact the company right away. We did just that. We contacted Starline and explained what was going on. They told us to email them the video and photos and they would "investigate it" and get back to us. It has been 3 weeks and no response from them. We have called over 6 times and emailed 4 times. We spoke with someone on Friday, he claimed his manager stated that they spoke with us, and had proof we used 1500cf, the said 1300, and lastly 1100cf. 1st off, no one ever called or emailed us, 2nd Which is it 1500, 1300, or 1100cf? He didn't even know what he was talking about. Stating that the "manager" would call us on Monday. NEVER HAPPENED!!!!!! Today is Thursday and again, I sent another email the night before. Still NO PHONE CALL OR EMAIL!!!! I have had it, this company does not care who they rip off and will hang up on you when you call, lie, and ignore every email you send. WE HAVE PROOF THAT WE ONLY USED 700 CUBIC FEET. THE DRIVER IS HEARD ON THE VIDEO ADMITTING IT, WE HAVE PHOTOS!!!!!! Yet this rip-off of a company claims they have other proof. I do not care what supposed proof you have, there is no way we went from using 1300cf at pick up and then 700cf at delivery. When you pick up, you can arrange items however you want to make it seem like we are using whatever space you claim. What matters is the amount we used when it arrived. PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW A SUPPOSED 1500 CUBIC FEET MOVE THAT YOU CLAIM WE USED AT PICK UP CHANGED TO 700 CUBIC FEET AT DELIVERY. SO, SOMEHOW, WE USED 800 CUBIC FEET LESS. THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE UNLESS HALF OF OUR ITEMS WERE LOST. We received almost all of our items, we are missing a lamp, and they also damaged our $1,200 Weber Grill, and broke the wheels off. Starline Vanlines I put a refundable deposit down of $800 and asked to cancel and get refunded within the refund window. The refund was approved by their online billing team via email but then never issued. I have followed up via phone call over 50 times and they keep saying to send an email reminder as the billing team can only be reached by email, they do not have a number and they are unable to contact them to assist me. I have sent numerous emails asking for my refund or even just an update on my refund with no response. The refunds are supposedly processed on Fridays according to their costumer service team. I paid the deposit on Thursday, April 25, 2024, and asked for the cancellation and refund on Friday, April 26, 2024. It has been months of me trying to get my money back. read more

My experience turned into a disaster with the crew leaving and throwing my boxes out of the truck onto a wet driveway and leaving it for the entire night in my driveway with snow and rain all night long as well as the risk of theft. I am waiting to see what, if anything is missing once I arrive at my destination if I ever do. New movers are here today and could barely pick up the drenched boxes filled with water and broken objects!! I know I have lost 3 television sets, my computer, keyboard, a cell phone and two large expensive monitors. Theres no way they withstood the rain and snow as well as the cold along with sitting in water all night. This was possibly one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. I worked with both Jeremy and Peter who quoted me $2344 for a move from CA to NY. We went over all items and were quoted for the exact items listed on the quote. Movers showed up and tried to tack on all these extra fees. The wanted an additional $2112. The movers stated the items were 400 cubic feet and the quote only allows for 300 cubic feet so they wanted an extra $750 for this, when all items were measured it added up to 184 cubic feet, which is less than the original quote. They also tried to add on $400 for a shuttle fee, which would have been fine if disclosed up front. I spoke to many companies prior to this and was aware of possible permit or shuttle fees for NYC. I was assured that this was an "all inclusive" quote and no additional big city fees would occur. We obviously sent the movers away because we were unwilling to pay nearly double the quote. Of course customer service was unwilling to provide a refund so thank god for my bank putting a stop pay on the charge. Whatever you do, do not go with this company.
