North Hudson must really be considered out of the way. I visited two bars there that I'm told, have been around forever. Thing is that one of the bars only has two Yelp reviews (one of them is mine), and this one only has 22. Either the places want to stay incognito, or the clientele want to keep certain elements out. If the latter is the case, then they blew it with me. I managed to sneak by their ever vigilant eyes. I, a tourist from Southern California, sporting a USC hat, at first sight looked out of place. I was initially stared down. It wasn't until they noticed that I was wearing a Hudson Raiders hoody that I was welcomed. Not with open arms, mind you, but let's just say that I was accepted. I was my jovial self and told them that it was ok to stare. Someone as handsome as I gets that all the time. The ice was broken. Starr's is a cool place. If you're a sports fan, you'll love the number of TVs scattered throughout. Literally one for each game no matter what the sport. Your choices of beer are just as numerous. It was fun sitting at the bar looking across at the locals tying one on. When new patrons filed in a quick cursory spy would give them the thumbs up. It's huge inside. I can only imagine what it's like when there's a full house. The food menu looks sufficient to meet the want of anyone needing to soak up the myriad of exotic beers ingested. A dad with 3 kids was doing just that. The dad, not the kids. They all looked happy. Either the kids were extremely well-behaved, or the food was so good that they didn't have to complain. Which is more than I can say about John, who was accompanying me on this tour of the north end. Quick Tip: Ample parking is available at Starr's. But park in the back behind the building. When it comes time to explain to your spouse where the hell you were for the past 3 hours, I wasn't at Starrs honey. Did you see my car there? Had you driven past the library, then your question would have been answered. If they ask, then why do you smell like a brewery? Just say free samples at Walmart. read more

Starr's Bar is now one of my favorite places for a burger. The Border Burger was spot on! Pepper jack cheese, chipotle mayo, onion straws and jalapeños....yum! We also split an order of cheese curds and they were perfect! Light, fluffy and not too heavily breaded. I can't wait to go back and sit on the patio once it gets warmer. read more

Good bar food, casual atmosphere, and excellent service on the north end of town! Established in 1933, this is a nice local bar with lots of local history. They have a full bar and some pretty decent food. They also have a big game area with pool tables and arcade machines. There are tons of TVs throughout if you're into sports. I had the giant Bavarian Pretzel and the Big Tex Burger. The food came out fast & hot and it was very good. My burger had a big thick 8 ounce patty that's sure to satisfy if you're hungry. Stopped in for a drink with some friends and absolutely loved this place! The atmosphere was great and outdoor patio was incredible! Finally got to try the food and was not disappointed! The haystack burger was great and the shoestring fries are perfect! Cheese curds for an appetizer are highly recommended! Maggie, the most competent barkeep, made the first visit memorable by suggesting a Bent Paddle brew, Cold Press Black. Puts Guiness to shame and as a nitrigen infused brew, is the only kind that stays down. Food was exceptional: I had the Big Tex; he had the In The Buff. Both were wolfed down with pleasure. These are both ground chuck burgers and far above the ordinary. We visited in January; bet you can't get a chair in the summer season but there are lots of them and plenty of parking in the private lot. I looked for but didn't find a foosball table. But plenty of distractions with other game tables, plenty of tv's and a very friendly vibe. We're going to be regulars! read more

Jackie the bartender on Sunday was the worst bartender EVER. she was constantly arguing with us about what ordered when she got it wrong, and when we got our drinks she threw our drinks at us. She has no customer service skills what so ever. We normally love Starr's Bar but if she is bartending, we will NOT be going back. read more

In 2016, this was like many small town Wisconsin bars: a couple of domestic taps, limited bottled beer selection, the bartender did not want to be challenged making mixed drinks beyond chose your spirit and flavor of soda, and the only food available was a frozen pizza (which actually was pretty good). It still made for a good time. Today, the bar is under new ownership. Unbelievable turn around. They have about 30 beers on tap, 25 of which are awesome. The bartenders can really make a cocktail, and their food is as awesome as their beer selection. Crowd and staff are as fun and friendly as you would expect. So it still is just like a typical Wisconsin small town bar, but with big city food and drink menu without the big city prices. read more

Who knew? First let me say that the five star on this place is a bit skewed and bogus because the majority of the reviewers if you look don't have friends OR reviews....I am legit. I will give this place a solid four just because the inside is warm large and vibrant. The beer choices are solid and cold. The food was nice sized portions for the price and well prepared. Tons of TV's if that is your thing. No shortage of parking and I like that it is hidden off the beaten path on your way from Hudson proper to North Hudson. Apparently this has been there all the time I lived in Hudson and I never knew....Our bartender was efficient and was just busy yet was able to service most of the large crowd all by herself. Attended our first Packer game watching experience this last Sunday at Starrs. Fantastic service. Our waitress was excellent. People came in like a tsunami wave and the owner was so great in making sure everyone was being services and tables, chairs ready for those attending. Loved the chicken and turkey hot sandwich offerings and the fries were the best. Love the seasoning. From start to finish great. Love the patio and the windows that make it feel open and bright. ONE REQUEST...great remodeling job except for ladies bathrooms. You can't fit in the stalls They are smaller than an airplane bathroom. You clothes have to touch the toilets to allow the door to close. The toilet paper containers take up the next space and elbows hit the walls. That small. No comfort. Feel sorry if you are a bigger person as you will not fit. Take 5 more feet to make it work. read more

We rode 375 miles and came here for dinner. What a wonderful experience. The food was wonderful but the staff was even better. Diane and Shelly took such good care of our group. There was this nasty lady at a table near us that was just being mean to Diane. I was very impressed with her professionalism in handling this rather rude woman. Walked in around 3:30 on a weekday a few weeks ago. Not busy. Sat at bar. Regular customers there as they were in conversations with others and the bartender about a vacation the bartender just got back from. Bartender was a nice girl and provided menus to me and my friend. We both ordered burgers and several rounds of drinks. I would not go back there. Burgers didn't have much taste. The entire time we were there the bartender was giving something to the regulars and telling them the drinks were on the owner because of the bar's anniversary??? Wow, way to treat new customers who were looking for a local watering hole by our new house. Will not come back. Bringing our friends and money to another bar. Sad to say you missed out on a group of new cash customers who will bring money into the establishment. read more

This is the best place in town to watch the Packers. There are plenty of TV's to watch the game and always 1 TV to watch the Vikings too. Plenty of micro brews to try on tap, good selection of wine, mixed drinks. Up north kind of atmosphere. Friendly people, good bartenders. read more

The most tap beers and choices ever! Bonus... they are ice cold. Service is awesome and people are friendly. They have the best frozen pizza in town locally made. This bar changed ownership just over a year ago. So if you haven't tried it recently please stop by and grab a cold beer! read more

If you love a good racist bar, this is your place. Place is always dead and had a terrible experience there. They don't play music most of the time and they made us use cash for everything. Complete waste of money and time. I'd rather walk downtown than spend another second in there. read more
