The servers were doing their best to keep things moving, and while our food came out at separate times (spaghetti came out almost 10 minutes before the fish) it at least ensured the food was hot and the server apologized. I live in the area. While a classic small village Wisconsin dive with cold beer and a slightly smoky vibe, the food was cold and one of our orders came out completely wrong. Food prices are too high for it to be this cold and wrong. 5/5 if I just wanted to drink beer and gab. 2/5 if food is involved. 3/5 for service, friendly but not enough to make up for a lackluster experience. If you do go here, maybe slip around back to the carbones pizza joint. Or go to the bass lake cheese factory and enjoy food above room temp. read more

Specifically came here to play bingo... the coverall was pretty close to $3,000 (mouth wide open)! This is my second time here to play and I really enjoy it. The single game pots are the largest I've ever played for. When we arrived the placed was packed, not one spot open, however, we found some nice ladies to share a table with. Service was as expected. The place was literally PACKED and not that many servers to cover all the customers, so I completely understood the lengthy wait. Inside of the bar/restaurant gives me up north vibes like a cabin. It's the neighborhood watering hole and lots of regulars are in attendance; staff know who those individuals are as well. For food, we ordered jalapeño poppers with a side of chili sauce which came recommended by our server. Those were fantastic. They were non-greasy and perfectly cooked the giant pretzel I heard was great as well- holy cheese! My sister enjoyed the club sandwich (not pictured). Our waitress was as attentive as she could be despite the chaos and I really appreciate her transparency with our table. She acknowledged we were there, apologized for the lengthy waits due to the busyness, and thanked us for being patient. Those gestures were excellent and much appreciated- thank you! My wife and I were just at Carbone's for the 2nd time in 2 weeks. We drove a fairly long way to get there mainly to have the pizza fries. I have had pizza fries at several restaurants, but these were the best ever. The crust is very thin and nice and crunchy on the edges as it should be. The prices are very reasonable. We had a wonderful, friendly server (Crystal) who really enhances our experience. We would love to have breakfast there on a Saturday some time. If you want good food, cheap, with friendly service at a local casual place - this is it! Next up for my Hudson eating adventure was the Willow River Saloon. Technically, they're located in Buckhardt. But they're only about 1000 feet north of the Hudson city border. These are two places connected together - the Willow River Saloon in front, Carbone's Pizzeria in back, pool tables and restrooms in the middle. They both have the exact same menu. But the saloon is a rustic antique local bar (with a dance floor and area for a live band). The pizzeria looks exactly like you'd expect from a pizzeria. The food was good. And the prices were incredible. I got a beer, an appetizer, a cup of chili, a burger, AND a house made dessert for less than 30 bucks. My buddy got nearly as much food for a mere 20 bucks. Wow! What a great local place. It sits almost on the road that cuts thru and we have talked about stopping on numerous occasions and I am so glad we finally did. We always eat in the front saloon area. The bartenders and wait staff are fast and friendly. The food will not disappoint! I had the Benny Burger and fries. I asked for it medium rare and it was cooked just how I like it. It was fresh and flavorful and the spicy mayo was delish! My husband had the fish fry. It came with three pieces of white fish with the perfect amount of fried batter. Not too thick and had a lot of taste! The owner is RUDE. They delivered a taco salad without any silverware. When I called I spoke to the owner and he laughed and said we don't have silverware. "It's a SALAD". HAHAHA. He laughed. This was our third time visiting, the service on the Carbone's side was excellent the first two times but tonight we went to the upstairs bar to see the band and if we could give 0 stars we would. After the excellent service the first 2 times on the restaurant side we were taken aback by the younger blonde bartender named Lori/Loren (?) A big group of us went here for Carbone's Pizza after we decided that cooking in the rain at a campsite would be just tooooo much of an adventure. Our waitress helped us push together a few tables so that we could all be at the same table. We placed our order for pizzas and other items and then waited. Now they say that they won't make it but the downtown location will. 1. That doesn't help because downtown won't deliver to us. 2. The post informed customers that some Carbonee's staff, for various reasons, may not be wearing masks during the pandemic. I'm glad the management made me aware of this situation. The Willow is one of my favorite hangouts of all time. Great bands and a friendly atmosphere. But today was incredibly disappointing. We stopped in to grab a bite after church in the restaurant side of things. The place was empty yet the lady who waited on us seemed like we were imposing on her Sunday afternoon. She was crabby and did a horrible job waiting on us. Then to take the cake...we had purchased a few restaurant.com coupons a while back, since we loved going there for Carbone's pizza and chicken, and they outright refused to take them claiming people were abusing them. So the deal was, we paid for these restaurant.com coupons, they have the Willow's logo on them AND they say they never expire. The waitress told us "they've never taken those" yet we bought 6 of them and have used 4 of them over the past year. Then they proceed to tell us they posted a sign that said they no longer accept those a while back but it must have "been taken down" at some point. Needless to say we were not able to use the coupons and were extremely disappointed especially since these coupons weren't just ones you get for free...WE PAID FOR THEM. I believe if they continue this trend of bad service and disappointing promotional's they better hope their bar keeps the restaurant afloat because people will choose to go elsewhere if they continue to operate this way. read more
