Starry costs $10 more than Comcast with the 200Mbps, which I can understand that Comcast's router costs $15 per month, so indeed it is $5 cheaper. However, the router you provided sucks with unstable connection and there is no option to use my own router without using yours. Avoid at 100%. read more

Pretty sure this company is phishing for business and attempted to get my building to allow them to install an antennae when 'multiple unit owners' requested service when on follow up they could not provide any information on whom requested. I've had Starry for two months now, and I love it. Setup was quick and painless, and the Starry WiFi Station looks cool and is easy to use. I haven't had any issues with streaming devices (a problem I had all of the time with my previous provider), which is great because I work mostly from home. At any given time I have 4 to 5 devices running with no problem. Upload speeds are crazy fast. I upload a lot of video and photos for work, and I've never had any lag time. Starry internet provided fine service for the first 11 months of the contract, but throttled my internet speed without notification contrary to the agreement to keep speed unchanged as long as I remained a customer. I have emailed exchanges with them, but it has been to no avail and my speed still remains throttled and slower. I do not recommend this company. read more

right off the bat, unstable high ping and unstable download speed. chatted with support and each time I reply, they would take 30mins to an hour to give me a response back. i thought spectrum was bad but starry's connection is very poor. if they can't fix this, my business will be back with spectrum. at least spectrum has steady ping which is important to anyone that games online. spectrum ping to a east coast server was a consistent 75 ms. starry ping to the same server 197, 172, 267, 175ms. download speed spikes from 48mb/s to 100mb/s all randomly through out the day to a server that's 3 miles away. read more

For 3 weeks that I had service with them I had to call them 6-7 times because Internet was on and off, my laptop wifi worked for couple days and stopped working and when it did work, it was super slow. Finally, technician Gabrielle came in but he did not fix any of the problems and he just left even though internet wasn't working at all. The only reason why I am giving 2 star is that because it was a 1st month free, I did not had to pay anything. I've had Starry internet for almost a year and it's been so great! The speeds are really incredible (I get ~150 megabits/sec download and ~200+ megabits/sec upload). This means zero lag when streaming and I occasionally upload large files and it's done in less than a minute. The one caveat to this is that I have noticed that it can get a little slow when there's heavy rain, but since I'm in Southern California it's not a problem at all. read more

This December, I found myself in a situation where I needed to find some corners to cut in my budget. Starry had been putting notices in my building periodically, and one day when my stomach was in knots over my finances I found one that promised me two free months of service if I signed up, and a flat fee of $50 a month after. Spectrum had been charging me upwards of $70 a month just to connect to the Internet, with threats of price increases - it felt like this was a sign from the universe. I signed up for an installation with a Starry rep immediately. They arrived earlier than anticipated, were courteous and respectful, and installation was quick. Speeds have been mostly great, although every so often my WiFi connection will drop unexpectedly. The outages are never long though, and rarely has it interrupted my work, rehearsal, or Netflix time. I'm jealous of all the DTLA posters that have actually had success with Starry. When I moved into my loft apt in Oct 2019, I was told by the leasing agent that Starry was one of only two options for internet in the building (smh). I was initially impressed by Starry's ease of installation and low cost. Unfortunately, I quickly began to have issues with connectivity and/or speeds in my bedroom area (~920 soft, 1 bed loft space). This issue has never been able to be fully resolved despite at least have a dozen service visits and multiple equipment swaps (including new WiFi6 router) over the last two years. During more than one service call, the tech would make statements that the presence of my kitchen (???), the microwave, the shelving, etc were all reasons for my problems. This just never made sense or seemed like an adequate excuse. I'm now tasked with managing my devices over five separate wireless networks (!!!) based on location in my apt and have to constantly move my cell phone from one to another even if I just move into another area briefly. I moved away from ATT/Spectrum prior to this move and was excited to take on service from a "little guy" but I've been regretting this decision almost from day one. read more

I originally had a service with Spectrum from $45 @ 100mps. At first, I thought this was an excellent deal, until I found out that this price was for a 12 month period only. After finding out that the price of my internet would increase, I became very interested in Starry's internet service. They offer a 200mps @$50/month. Since I live really close to the antenna, which is how the connection occurs, I get anywhere from 250-350mps. At this insane speed and only for $50, why would I ever go back to spectrum?
