I love a good strip club and Portland is full of some of the best in the world. It's an art and a business. Many of the women who perform are talented dancers and artists. Years from now we will look back and see strop clubs the way we see burlesque. That being said, although STARS Cabaret is the only club in Bend, DON'T GO! Mostly they are basically closed...they will charge you cover to see no dancers on stage. Or even when they are busy, they are just not the best dancers Oregon has to offer. This is not universally true. I have a friend who was working there for a few months and is a goddess (shout out Raquel!). Tonight I went there, paid the cover and went to the bar. I was treated, immediately, to some of the rudest service from the bartender I'd ever experienced. She was curt, rude and went out of her way to make it clear she didn't like me. I was just ordering drinks...nothing special or different. Even her coworker looked at me and mouthed "what the fuck?" at the way I was being spoken to. Then, she asked for and kept my ID, which had never happened before. I understand it may be policy but it was not something I'd been asked to do before. I was a little put out...ok I was rude back. But I took my drink and walked away. Then...when I wanted a second drink I was told I was no longer being served. WTF?! Being born and raised in NYC and having lived in LA for the last 15 years I know a good men's club. Didn't know what to expect when arrived at Stars as I have never been to Oregon before. One of the dancers asked me if I had any rules for my husband which I didn't expect but greatly appreciated. What a level of mutual female respect. Great atmosphere and the bartenders were great at remembering drinks. I went head over heels for one of the dancers: Casey who is one of the best pole performers I have ever seen. I also have a thing for beautiful tattooed women. Intelligent and able to talk about anything. Went back again to see Casey one more time before heading home to San Francisco. I have been to this place several times before and I honestly have to say last night when I went there on Tuesday May 9th 2017 it was the worst experience I have ever had. The blonde, bitchy, unattentive, and slow as shit bartender was the worst person to be serving fun in the entire establishment. I don't know if she was on drugs or just severely depressed, but it was a big let down. They usually have a pretty regular crew and the normal Tuesday night girl was not there. People were complaining left and right and saying the normal "what do I have to do to get a beer at this place?" comments and it was clearly a shitshow. One of my buddies told me that the crazy chick had thrown some sort of temper tantrum that was quite a scene and I went up to the bar to get a beer and saw that the manager had replaced her, which was a welcome sight. It turns out it is the only place in Central Oregon, so I'm sure this review will probably not deter people from going there, but if I was the manager or owner I would probably definitely work on improving the staff....... especially the one that might control keeping the customers happy and how much money you are making my how many drinks you were serving. On a positive note, they had over 10 C- to A- girls working there on a Tuesday night, the door girl was incredibly nice, and I might have sort of fell in love with the cocktail waitress. Stars was pretty busy last night, so my friends and I sat up front at the stage. We were tipping the dancers even though they were sub-par. Honestly two 5's and a 6 had been up on stage. All of a sudden this obese bouncer tells me I am cut off, and that I have to leave. He took my mostly full beer away which was theft, and didn't offer any explanation at all. So, looking back at the evening ... I paid a cover charge, tipped each dancer regardless of their beauty and skill, was purchasing refreshments and tipping the bartender, and for all my honest and fair business dealings I was rewarded with no explanation at all as I was being escorted out of the bar. Not my idea of fair. Just be careful if you choose to go to this club, I won't be going again. read more
