Most mouth-watering meal I've had in a long time. Lauren and I came in for dinner on a Wednesday and enjoyed a delicious Sancerre, Wagyu tasters, split a wedge, and a filet for dinner. We loved the Liminal red and appreciated that we could take home what we didn't finish. Judd was amazing, as was the starter bread served with delicious whipped butter. I'll start out by saying this place is very nice, and the staff was wonderful. Little bit of chat back-and-forth sitting at the bar, and a cool place to hang out. The open kitchen is especially very cool to watch if you don't have anyone else to hang out with. The reason for the review rating, is just the quality of the food. The day before I went to RBC, and not only was it less money than this, it was much much better. This is absolutely not what I expected from a place that looks like this and cost this much. My steak was OK, but as I said, I got the same one at RBC and it blew this out of the water. Picking your knife is a cute little exercise, but after all that I would've expected my knife to at least be sharp enough to cut the steak the way I wanted it. But that's a silly thing to even get stuck on. What really bugged me was the brussels sprouts first off were just swimming in grease and sauce, they were intense, and I only had a couple spoonfuls. The other thing that really pushed this over the edge was the brisket Bao. That seemed like a cool idea, but the brisket itself was extremely basic and just in a formed square. The sauce tasted like just peanut and nothing else, and the bao itself was extremely dry. The bread service was probably my favorite part, that thing was really tasty and so was the butter. I can't remember what they said the butter specifically was, but it tasted like just butter, it wasn't special. Heard about this high-end steakhouse for awhile and was excited to finally try it. The ambiance was very cool. Staff very friendly. Service was a little slow and cocktails were super slow to arrive. We ordered a lot of side dishes and some oysters. Side dishes were very tasty, i.e. carrots, brussel sprouts, caesar salad, pureed potatoes. Oysters were extremely small - about the size of a nickel. I ordered a rib eye steak and about one-third of it was not chewable and pushed to the side. What was edible was very well seasoned and good. Was it worth $65? Nope, not even. I was finally able to get a table with my best friend from the first grade. Our wives were back home and we decided to celebrate my "almost" birthday and the sale of his family business. My friend is a regular at Bos Taurus so I let him lead the way. We started with cocktails and later had the Hama Hama oysters followed by a Compressed Caesar for my friend and a Bos Wedge for myself. We also had a special treat called the Wagyu Tasting that had three one ounce portions of perfectly marbled beef accompanied by three pairing sauces. For our entrees I ordered the 8oz filet and my friend had the 16oz ribeye. We also shared the Yukon Gold Potato Puree and Sauteed Rapini & Spinach for our side dishes. A nice touch that they have at Bos Taurus is you get to select your choice of steak knives from around the world representing the U.S., France and Japan. Since we were celebrating we had a bottle of the Chateau Leoville Barton Saint-Julien 2008 to enjoy with our steak and sides. It was a dinner to remember. BEWARE THE SALT. Walked into Boss Taurus after having an appetizer around the corner at a different spot. I ordered one of the specialty steaks along with the risotto. I had to send my steak back because it was way over salted. I'm a salt lover and for me to have to send something back means it was way over the top. It ended up, throwing off the timing with my wife's risotto, which is also very salty, and impacted the overall experience here. The bartender was kind enough to take my glass of wine off the bill because of the steak issue and they were glad to remake my steak, but it ended up taking way too long to enjoy my meal at this place. All of the dishes we had were delicious. The service was first rate. The only complaint I have is the wine by the glass list is rather unimaginative and the pours are pretty light. I get to pick out my own steak knife? Yes please! Came to Bos Taurus to splurge on some fancy steaks, and splurge we did. We got the A5 Omi Princess Waygu from Japan, a NY strip waygu hybrid from Australia, crispy brussels sprouts and their foie gras budino dessert. That A5 Omi Princess Waygu has special place in my heart and I miss her already. It was just amazing, it melts in your mouth and I barely had to chew. This just made the NY strip hybrid pale in comparison--still good, cooked perfectly but nothing special after the A5 waygu. Both my husband and I had a really hard time trying to eat the brussels sprouts. Omg it was just.so.sweet. We told the servers we couldn't eat it, so they kindly took it off our bill. The foie gras budino wasn't half as sweet as the brussel sprouts and we absolutely loved it. The foie gras was at the bottom of the cup, and we were instructed to try to get a single bite of all the components to get all the flavors. It was decadent, and one of the most unique desserts I've had. Definitely try this if you're looking for something new. While the service we got was great, everything just took very long. I think we got there at 8pm but didn't finish until close to 10pm. It was just my husband and I, so we weren't out socializing with a huge group. The wait for dishes took really long. My husband and I have been coming to Bos for 6 years and this last time wasn't the always stellar dining experience we have had in the past. I made a reservation 30 days out for our 17-year anniversary with a small request of sitting upstairs. When we arrived a few minutes early, we were sat in one of the 2 tight tables on the main floor, next to the staircase with people coming and going constantly behind you. I politely asked if it was possible to move and my request was declined. The manager brought over complimentary champagne and 4 oysters, which was appreciated but unnecessary. The menu has gone through some change (even pricier and more pretentious - $27 for a glass of wine?) but we were there for a special occasion and weren't there to skimp. Our waitress (can't recall her name - brunette, bubbly and new) was kind, but had a couple moments of brain fog when it came to remembering certain items on the menu. Dinner was good, not great, as we remembered from past visits (even my husband who orders the Rib-Eye every time said it was fattier (not the good kind!) than it ever had been. Even the Bundino, our favorite dessert tasted different. Not as decadent - super disappointing. There are so many more options in the Bend area (Zydeco is AMAZING!) and I would save a trip and try elsewhere for future reference. read more
