We have used Javier in the past and had a great experience. Sadly we can no longer recommend. First he was a no show, when we reached out he had "forgotten/was sick". This was the first time this had happened, so we let it slide and rescheduled. We have a 12 year old golden doodle that is very friendly but anxious when put in loud stressful situations like grooming centers with other dogs, which is why we like the mobile groomer, because it is usually a calm and quick experience. Unfortunately this time not so much...Javier clearly rushed the job and was inpatient with our dog. She came out very uneven with hair all different lengths and very patchy. She had red welts all over the underside of her tail. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He yelled at my husband and made accusations of "treating the dog poorly" he also accused the dog of "biting him" which this dog has never bitten anyone[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. He then tried to upcharge us for $245 for the grooming....when asked how much it normally cost he said between $165-$185, but the dog was difficult. One final issue which was quite bizarre...He brought the dog to the door covered in poop. Apparently she had, had an accident in the truck...My husband took the dog out back and had to finish cleaning her up. I'm normally hate to leave bad reviews, especially for small businesses, but this was such a disturbing experience, I'm hoping others will read and avoid wasting their money and placing unnecessary stress on their pets. read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Unfortunately we did not have a good experience with Javier.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We were new clients and it may be that he is busy enough with his existing clients. Our two dogs, an English Cream Golden Retriever and a small (35 lb) poodle were unexpectedly shaved by Javier and his assistant. We had instructed him to give them haircuts and baths, and to do a shed-release on our Golden, which both of them have had many times with good results. He quoted us prices: $180 for our Golden and $120 for our poodle for baths, brush-out and de-shedding, nail trims and ear cleaning plus a few other things. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When he showed up he seemed already angry (no reason why - we had all good phone and text exchanges).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He proceeded to shave both dogs, not brush and cut their hair, and then charged us $220 for the Golden and $180 for the poodle. I had given him all the details of breed, weight, temperament and fur type and length ahead of time, so the price should not have changed. Fortunately I had written down his quotes and showed them to him. He agreed to come down to the quoted $120 for the poodle but wouldn't budge on our Golden. We ended up paying $400 for the two dogs to be shaved; neither dog got haircuts or were "groomed" and both were treated very roughly! Seemed like he took a profound short-cut (pun intended). Please do not send your elderly dog here. My yorkie is currently fighting for her life after her grooming appointment on Friday, Sept. 23. She was a completely different dog after I picked her up. My boyfriend and I heard a scream coming from his van on the way to get her. Javier said she was difficult, but swears nothing else happened. She is unable to walk and it already cost me $500 in vet bills to identify the problem. Bottom line is that she had a traumatic accident or incident and I get that Javier doesn't want to take ownership, but this is my dog's health we're taking about. She was completely fine before her grooming appointment. I'm about to lose her. This is my first incident after two years of going to him, but so far it has been one of the most traumatic weekends of my life. read more

I know some others have posted not-so-good experiences with Stars Grooming, so I just wanted to share ours (good experiences). We've been using their services about 8 times a year for the past 3 years. Most of the time it's been Brandon, but occasionally it's been Javier. Our 13.5 year old lab does not like water or baths (I know, he's weird) and he doesn't like getting into strange vehicles. Brandon or Javier have to PICK UP our 75 lb dog and carry him into the van, onto the table. Every. Single. Time. Do you know how I know they're doing a fantastic job? Because our dog is ALWAYS happy to see them. No hesitation, always happy. Even though he knows he's getting picked up. Even though he knows he's getting a bath. He's still happy to see them. My mini goldendoodle has been groomed locally for years but now that she is 14 and losing sight, hearing, and very arthritic - fragile, busy loud groomer is too much for her all day. Tried mobile grooming and this one recommended. Van parked in my driveway. After about an hour Xavier brought my dog back and acted angry saying she tried to bite him. (She has NEVER tried to bite anyone and is so shy she throws herself on her back at any agression).If she did he must have really hurt her. He charged $130 and said it was a partial cut. She had been bathed but her nails were not done and cut was uneven everywhere. Do not use this groomer. read more

First of all, I hate to write less than stellar reviews. I had a business myself and so I know firsthand how reviews can impact you, for positive or negative. And I know that Stars has many happy customers, so they must be doing something right. And I wish them well. However, in our case it didn't work out too well. The mistake they made was not remembering the explicit instructions my wife gave them, to not do his nails. He had just had them done elsewhere. For now we only needed a brush and wash, period. But they proceeded to automatically go thru their normal routine. And he shrieked when they cut his nails. Now, granted, our dog is a "difficult" dog. But still, c'mon guys, maybe it would have been better if you had taken reminder notes and done it the way we requested. Within a few minutes we mutually cancelled the appointment and I gave them a $40 fee for showing up, which is legitimate. Too bad, we would have liked to find a solution to our dog grooming problem. read more

I am writing this review after some time has passed since my incident with Javier. There was recently a post on Nextdoor with very similar circumstances, so I have decided to review on Yelp so that others can be informed of his performance. I had been going to Javier since he began his mobile business. Never had an issue with him until January 2023. He had been grooming my two Shih Tzu's (4 & 6 Yrs Old) since they were 4 months old, and I started with him at Who Does Your Dog with my senior dog. No problems with either of them and we had standing appointments every 6 weeks. On last visit, he seemed very off, not his usual self. After grooming for over 2 hours which was very unusal, he gave me back my dogs and told me had to charge me $50 more (already paying $200) because one was very matted (not the case). And going forward, it would cost $250 for each appointment. He was very abrupt with me and was in a hurry to leave. I tried to discuss with him, but he got very angry. I told him, I cant pay that much, and he had just raised me, he said "then Bye we are done". When I got the dogs in the house, I realized how badly the hair cut was on one of them. It was so uneven and choppy and very short, which took 3 months to grow out. Later that night I noticed my dog had very red eyes and appeared to be in pain and very withdrawn. Both dogs seemed very traumatized. I took her to our vet the next day and he said that she had been badly chocked. She was put on medication and thankfully there was no lasting damage to her eyes. I contacted Javier and after a few exchanges he agreed to pay my vet bill. All he told me was that he was sorry and that he should of done better? I will never go back to him. It was very horrific incident. All I can say is if you are a client of his and have had no issues, I was also one of those for years. If you still want to use him, Just be cautious. Require him to leave his doors open so that you can see and hear what is going on in his van. I never thought that he was capable of doing harm to my dogs. But clearly something has changed with him and he should not be anywhere near ones pet. read more

We adopted Sammi just before Covid lock down in 2019. So no socialization for 3 years. She hardly let us touch her nails and I bathed her at home. After a solid referral to try Stars, we started working with Stars over a year ago. Once a month we look forward to having Javier take care of Sammi. (Another groomer had asked us not to bring her back.). With much patience from Javier for almost a year now, Sammi has made amazing progress. While Sammi is about 15 pounds, Stars also takes care of our neighbors two giant dogs so size is not an issue. Thank you Javier for having the patience to work with Sammi. She is our "baby" and we very much appreciate how adorable she looks after her "spa" day. And we don't even even have to leave the house! This guy knows what he is doing - one of my dogs is pretty friendly, and he had no problem taking him into the van and giving him top notch service. He came back into the house a happy dog- less fuzzy, cleaner, and I look forward to less dog hair around the house! He showed me videos of his work with my dog, which is great! I've tried another grooming place in the past, and they would never show you what they were doing. The fact that he shows you what he does to your dog is testament to his level of service. But what put him over the top for me is for my other dog, a mean Chihuahua who just bit a vet last week. She lets no one other than her masters near her. Javier has been grooming my maltipoo for about 5+ years. I heard about this mobile grooming service through a friend, who is also a 5+ years long customer. Javier has always done what's best for my dog in recommending what length to trim that would keep his skin and coat healthiest. Being a maltipoo, my dog has a lot of soft, thin hairs that tend to easily be matted, which can be tricky to comb out. Once we figured out the frequency of visits, the number of tangles and matts are now at a minimum. With each visit, my dog transforms from scruffy to fluffy in less than a hour. Plus, he smells so good! Having a mobile groomer who comes to the house is so convenient and a time saver. Yes, you pay more than some places, but having focused, individualized attention from start to finish works best for my dog, who can get nervous around other dogs. I hired Javier to groom my dog three times in the past. The most recent time was on July 26, 2023. Please do NOT take your dog to get groomed by him. After Javier returned my dog to me, he told me my dog almost jumped while he was grooming him and that he had diarrhea. About 15 minutes later, when I tried to hold my dog, he was crying in pain. I contacted Javier on my way to the vet to ask what happened while my dog was in his care. He said nothing happened. I have been to the vet three times for X-rays and medication. My dog was traumatized after Javier groomed him. He continues to shake uncontrollably. For a week after, he walked very slowly and I bought a stroller to transport him outside to void. read more

I thought I might be overreacting until I saw several other reviews with the same complaint. I made appointment with Javier for Friday over the phone on Wednesday. On Wednesday night I wrote him and said if you get any cancellations tomorrow lease let me know. he wrote back and said who is this? What is your address? so I sent him my address. I called him Friday to confirm that I would see him at 3 o'clock, but he told me that he hadn't gotten my text in time and was not coming. I was upset. He hung up on me and then wrote me and told me he did not want to groom my dog. Trust me, I would not let him anywhere near my dog after the way he behave toward me. From what I've read, I was lucky that he never got to groom my dog. read more

We've been using Javier to groom our dog for over a year, now. We tried it ourselves but it takes hours for us, and is very stressful. Our dog has hair like a wooly mammoth, even though he's less than 30 pounds! Javier is always on time, he always takes his time and does a good job for a reasonable cost. Javier advises us to turn the blow dryer on near our puppy so that he would get use to the noise. And the best advice - don't hover outside and let your puppy hear or see you!
