Four of us came here on a Wednesday morning for breakfast. It was my first visit but the others had been here often. We were immediately greeted kindly and seated. I got the Denver omelette because it's always my go-to favorite breakfast item. My breakfast filled two plates! The onions on my omelette were magical, the ham & eggs both delicious, and only the bell peppers could've been improved upon. All in all, it was equal to the best omelette I've ever had. The hash browns and enormous biscuit were also top notch. I liked the ambience as it was quiet enough to have pleasant conversation. Table ware was good and the bathrooms all in order. However, the food is excellent and I recommend this spot if you live here or are passing through to Montrose or to Denver. The service is excellent and the ambience western motif. Country diner vibe, locals abound and a few travelers, some folk in for breakfast before work, some families out to start the day dining together, a couple couples, and a gentleman in a very proper looking cowboy hat. The endless pancake price has increased to $8. They were a good size but I'll be bringing my own maple syrup next time, as whatever they used was warmed but the kind that developed a hair strain type texture while cooling before it becomes more of a plasma and less of a liquid. Staff was friendly, despite being busy. Hooked us up with a water for the road and my buddy bought a bottle of hot sauce locally made at Pear Blossom Farms in Palisade. read more

This is the place to get your breakfast on! It's for locals and non- locals alike. Our waitress was a gem and a dynamo. It's busy, so be ready with your order. We all had something comforting and delicious, there was French toast, b&g, eggs and the like. We tried local red and green hot sauce and it was so flavorful. Imagine our delight when our gem of a waitress let us know that it was for purchase. We happily bought both so we could take home a taste of this great restaurant. They also sell local crafts at a very reasonable price. Don't be on a diet when you come here. They'll feed you enough that you won't have to eat for 2 days. read more

Fast and reliable breakfasts and one of the few places you can get corned beef hash with a poached egg or two on top (something everyone should try at least once!). They'll customize your order and do it well. The bacon is real and it's good. Lots of other stuff from SYSCO cans and boxes but can you really say you care when it's a quick and tasty breakfast you're after? Service is VERY prompt and usually you don't have to wait long even on Sunday mornings. Ambiance is cafe/diner vibe so don't be looking you cloth napkins or pretty decor. It's a diner! Hours are limited and doesn't appear to be open after about 2pm so breakfast and lunch only. A good alternative with better food (though very small dining room) is Papa's Grill just down the road near Safeway, but hours there are limited also. read more

When you have to ask for a coffee refill twice and a glass of ice water 4 times before you get it, that's lame. The wait staff was horrible. I come up from Denver to Delta once a year to visit my Dad. I've been doing this for the past 19 years. Each year the staff is more & more hateful to their Customers. If I treated my Customers the way Delta Starvin Arvin's staff treats their Customers, I would be out of business. Unfortunately, Starvin Arvin's is one of the only places to eat breakfast in Delta. I was embarrassed at the way the waitress talked to my Dad. He is an 80-year-old farmer, who was just trying to entertain us for one weekend a year. The waitress has worked at Starvin Arvin's for the past 10 years, but, obviously she needs to change careers...she cannot work with the public -- attitude is a choice! It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman. Next year we will head out of town (out of Delta) for breakfast. Was extremely disappointed in breakfast here. Chef did not take pride in my breakfast this morning. Ordered eggs over medium, had to send back to to being undercooked. Hash browns were not fresh and were served the ones sitting on the grill being scraped together. Asked for a fresh side of hash browns and were served the same old hash browns sitting on the grill. The famous cinnamon roll was over cooked and tough! Such a disappointment this morning when I just wanted a fresh, hot breakfast. read more

Good food. Bit expensive. NEVER go when its busy. Like... NEVER NEVER. I always get their club sandwich. Wish they would switch to thinner bacon instead of thick cut... some people can't bite into that... and spread the meat out a little... not lumped in the center of the bread. Normally food and service is good here. Today not even worth the one star I am giving. Yes they was busy but that's the business. I can accept it took 30 minutes to get some of the food to the table. Forgot some if the food and of what made it to the table was burnt and unsealed. The glasses used for our drinks was more like the size used for juice. Worst food, ever. Had to stay over in the area due to weather- thought we'd grab a bite to eat--- looked like a 'mom and pop' type place. I can't figure out how this place is still open or has a lic to serve food. Waitress kept filling my coffee mug without asking if I wanted a top-off, coffee is bad so getting a good mix of sugar/cream was necessary--- she just kept topping it. I finally put my hand over it to keep her from messing with it- she walked by 3 or 4 times and I blocked her from filling it, which must have irritated her- so then she finally gets my hand off the mug and she fills it TO THE BRIM. No room for cream or sugar. I had 'fruity french toast'...which was HORRIBLE. Bread was SUPER battered and overdone, stale/dry in the middle, it was hard and tasted like cardboard, and had a whole jar of raspberry preserves dumped over it (could not see the bread) and then FAKE whipped cream to where the plate was just one big swirl of white and red. I took 2 bites. It was disgusting. Waitress comes by and sees me sitting there, no cutlery in my hands, nearly full plate of food pushed away from me, and says; "How's that food, nice and fruity?" Really?!? My daughter had fruit pancakes--- within 90 seconds of serving it, before she'd taken 2 bites, the FAKE whipped cream was liquified into this big soupy mess (indicative of canned spray-cream that was too warm/spoiled) so we scraped it off and put it on another plate--- it made a 10" sized 'pancake' of this oily mixture....pancakes were dry and tasteless. So 2-for-2 on disgusting Hubby had eggs, toast and hashbrowns, which he ate, and then brought back up a 1/2 hour later. Strike 3. This place is abysmal. Food was INEDIBLE. Waitress was rude, clueless. Kitchen obviously does not care about anything they are putting out. To top it off, I got up to leave from our booth, and the booth seat is NOT affixed to the base, so it flipped up as I leaned forward--- dumping me onto the floor. Good thing I wasn't one of the other elderly diners--- lawsuit in the making! I've eaten all over the world-- this place is by far one of the worst meals, ever. Decor is very scary 80's. We went here on November 15. The handicapped ramp was somewhat tricky, as a pickup had blocked part of it. Inside, we seated ourselves but the table was dirty. A waitress who was visiting two other customers grabbed a rag and cleaned it. She took our drink order but didn't bring straws- I got up and took two from the wait station. My wife had problems getting her walker under the table due to the huge pedestal supporting it. Our waitress was great! She took our burger orders and brought them promptly. All this time, the other waitress continued to visit with the people at the table (even sat with them). I used the men's room- it needed to be cleaned. In the background, AC DC and Led Zeppelin songs played on the restaurant speakers. The floor needed to be vacuumed. Bottom line- good food, substandard appearance and handicapped facilities. read more

When we first got there we were ignored by the person behind the front counter for long enough to be uncomfortable. Then someone in passing yelled she would be right with us. After waiting another minute or so a waitress passing by told us to sit where ever we wanted. After all that the service improved and breakfast was very good. We will never go here again. They have a waitress there i think her name is sadie, she's extremely rude. My husband and i asked for a refill after we got our lunch and she rolled her eyes and did a sound. Starvin Arvin's always has great food! Could be cleaner. It was very slow on this visit. No refill on coffee cup for a while. Ticket never came so we went up to the front to get it and leave. This is the only Starvin Arvin's that over does the frosting on the cinnamon rolls to the point of being wasteful. Still encourage you to go. Can't beat the food elsewhere! read more

I'm a local resident of Delta county. I just got done with breakfast at the Delta restaurant and I am not satisfied one bit as to the way my meal went. S.A. has a daily special (changes every day) that they advertise quite specifically for $5 Monday-Friday from 6 AM to 8AM. Today it was "French Toast". I went in about 7:25 AM and ordered the "French Toast Special" to Misty the waitress. She asked me if I wanted bacon or sausage (bacon) and how I wanted my eggs to be cooked (scrambled). The meal was good and tasty. The bill arrived and I was charged $8.69 for the French Toast Special from the menu. When I asked her why the charge was for a full meal, she replied that the Friday "French Toast" was only for 4 pieces of french toast. I said that the information about the "specials" is confusing. She replied that: "Yes, they seem to have some problem with that." She did not offer to make any concession to the fact that SHE is THEY and that she should have asked me when I ordered WHAT French Toast special I wanted...the Friday special or the menu special? Misty is typical of what happens with servers in the Delta area. It's not "I'll fix that for you, sir or I'm sorry sir. It's "That's the way it is sir and have a nice day." I and my wife won't be back to Starvin' Arvins for their $5 specials, regular meals, or any other specials that they have...ever. There's a nice little bakeria up in Eckert that will get my business from here on out. I certainly won't be telling anyone that I know to sit down without first explaining to Misty that they want the "DAILY SPECIAL THAT YOU HAVE ADVERTISED RIGHT HERE ON THE TABLE TOP AND WHAT COMES WITH THAT DAILY SPECIAL THAT YOU HAVE ADVERTISED RIGHT HERE ON THE TABLE TOP, PLEASE?" The worst place to eat in Western Colorado! I have eaten at places with bad service but this was beyond bad. From the moment we walked in. My father mother and I. All eyes were on us and not in a good way. To the rolling of the eyes and mean stare from our waitress, to her ignoring us and helping other customers that had gotten there after us. All with in the span of fifteen minutes. So I asked myself this question. Do I have to eat here? The answer came quick, I do not! We the consumers support these businesses by us dining their. I am a big tipper in part because I believe that waiters/waitresses do not receive the monetary wages they deserve. However this is not the case at this breakfast/lunch place. I wish I could say something good about this place, but I can not. So if your looking for a great place to eat in Delta for breakfast. Please, please take your business elsewhere.
