What an amazing experience at C&J Cafe!…read more This is exactly what you hope to find in a small-town restaurant--a place where people genuinely take pride in what they do. The restaurant was immaculately clean, my drink was never empty, and my waitress was informative, funny, friendly, and simply great at her job. And the food was beyond great! But for me, this visit was about much more than just a good meal. I used to come here more than 30 years ago with my sister. She and my brother-in-law are both gone now, and I wanted to come back and revisit a place that held some wonderful memories for me. I had the opportunity to meet the owner, and to my surprise, he remembered my sister and brother-in-law. He shared some wonderful things about them, and that made walking through the door worth more to me than I can really put into words. I'm extremely glad I stopped. They serve great traditional American food as well as absolutely amazing Mexican food. The service, cleanliness, food, and genuine small-town hospitality made this a very special experience. If you're passing through Delta, Colorado, I highly, highly recommend stopping at C&J Cafe. There is parking out front and plenty of additional parking in the back. Some restaurants give you a great meal. Every once in a while, you find one that gives you a great meal and brings back a few wonderful memories at the same time. C&J Cafe did exactly that for me. Absolutely worth the stop!

We were promptly seated and the waiter came right away to take our drink order. My husband ordered a latte, which was delicious and generous. For our meals I chose the chicken, green apple salad and my husband ordered the stuffed French Toasts. We both loved our food! The salad was big, with juice grilled chicken breast and a light and tangy vinaigrette. The French Toasts were one of the best he's ever had (his words). The place is big, really clean and spacious. We are definitely coming back next time we visit Delta.

At 30 minutes I went up and asked and was told they couldn't find, us so they seated another party. We weren't outside or even in another part of the building. We were sitting at the coffee table with four chairs. EXACTLY WHERE THE HOST TOLD IS TO SIT! Got seated. 15 minutes and finally someone came to get our drink orders. That took another 20 minutes to get. Ordered our food. I ordered the chicken fried steak. Twice I tried to flag down someone, anyone, for more gravy as there was a pitiful amount on the steak. Got the gravy and dug in. Steak was WAY over cooked. It was so dry. The breading was tough and crunchy, burned on the bottom. We tried flagging down someone to tell them, plus all our drinks had been empty for quite a while. After 20 minutes I gave up and attempted to eat around the yuck! Ate about half, but couldn't handle any more. When we were done, we showed and explained why I hadn't eaten much. She said "sorry about that", and cleared our plates. When she dropped off the bill, we expected a small discount for my subpar meal. NOPE! Paid full price! We won't be back. Drinks never got refilled. No one came at any time to see how things were. My chicken fried steak was leather with over cooked breading. Using the excuse that they were understaffed is not the customers fault. As busy as they were, reservations would have simplified things for the host, the servers, the bartenders and the kitchen staff!

The outdoor patio is pet-friendly, so we were able to enjoy breakfast outside with our dog, Luna. We both had breakfast sandwiches, and they were cooked perfectly. The English muffin was especially good and really made the sandwich. Since we placed a to-go order, we didn't have much interaction with the staff, but everything was ready on time and the overall experience was smooth. We'd definitely recommend it for a quick, delicious breakfast in Telluride.

I knew what I wanted by the time I got to the counter, but then discovered that they weren't available. Some things I wish I had known before I came: -- There is no soup available on Sundays. -- Their breakfast menu is not available on Sundays, just their Sunday brunch, which was not explicit on their website. Ended up getting sunchokes with an over medium egg to go. There's no good place to stand as you wait for your order. Once I got my order I had to doubled back to ask for a napkins and eating utensils once I realized they were not automatically included. The food itself was delicious, and I appreciated the cooked greens that came with as well.
