Brussel Sprouts and Truffle Parm Chips
Teresa S.

We stopped into this location during our drive from Edmonton to Banff. It was happy hour and we were able to try out a few dishes to share. These were all happy hour specials. The lettuce wraps were so tasty and well balanced. The truffle park chips were so crunchy and yummy. The portion was huge. Brussel sprouts were savoury. Crispy bacon was perfect with it. I didn't love the spicy tuna bowl, but my husband enjoyed it. Lots of drinks on special. I had wanted red wine, but was given white. I didn't say anything because I tried a sip and it was quite delightful. It's a nice location and wasn't too busy when we went in the daytime. I would likely return again.

I have been here once before and decided to give it another try as the service was friendly and the food was fairly decent in both taste and pricing. We were able to walk right in at 6:00 with no reservation though it is handy to be able to see the live wait time on Yelp to be able to time your visits. State and Main is a pub style restaurant with a bar and plenty of sports screens and booths and tables for families. Parking can be a bit tight as it shares the space with other businesses. Our server was courteous and the food was good, nothing to right home about. Bottom line: I will be a returning customer but I am in no rush to do so just yet.

Verrry nice looking restaurant/pub. Service was quick, friendly, and the food was tasty. I had fish tacos ($4 during happy hour) and naan bread with hummus. Sooo good. The bread was served warm and the hummus had a balsamic drizzle. Was yummy. The fish tacos were also great. Just a hint of spice and perfect size for starters. Was a very good lunch visit.

First time coming to this location in Nolan Hill. Great food, service is quick. The chili oil for the Pacific Rim Noodle bowl is quite spicy. I had asked to put it on the side so I can put how much I want. Would come back again.

The ambiance was very laid back and the food was good. The waitress was kind but accidentally spilled coffee on my father which was a little scary at first but thankfully he was ok. Not much to complain about here and I am glad they are located in the hotel. 3.7 stars rounded up for convenience makes Tonic Kitchen and Bar a 4 star review for me! Thank you!

They were pretty quick with our orders and did not mind us catching up for longer than we probably should have while at a restaurant. That being said, the food just wasn't on par. Over our stay we tried multiple items (only got a picture of a couple of dishes though): Seafood pasta - great menu item, but bland Soup of the day - every night it was tomato bisque. We would have loved some variety Eggs, toast, potatoes and bacon (Double) - what else is there to say, pretty standard. Nothing special Oatmeal - Horribly bland and no accompaniments Buffalo Chicken Naan Bread - the chicken was fried which we didn't particularly care for and that too the oil tasted old giving that bitter taste. Had they used maybe the butter chicken instead, I think it would have been so much better Sweet Chili Cauliflower Bites - We actually enjoyed this one! No complaints Grilled Chicken Alfredo - bland and flavorless Tonic Butter Chicken with tofu sub - decent Primavera Frittata - bland It's like the chef is allergic to salt or something. Almost nothing was seasoned right. I will say, we were also not fans of how limited the breakfast options are for hotel guests and the fact that there wasn't anything that we could grab and go for mornings we had to leave early for a day trip. It felt like quite the disadvantage for paying guests. It would have at least been nice to have bagels and cream cheese if nothing else!
