If I could give 0, I would. Called them at noon, was told 30 to 60 minutes, messaged me after 30 minutes, said it would be 47 minutes, messaged an hour later, it would be 20 minutes. By then, 2 1/2 hours have passed. I called a local tow company who arrived in less than 30 minutes. Did state farm ever come through? Who knows, they never showed up in the 3 hours I sat there waiting. Next time I'll just forget them, call a local company, and give State Farm the bill. I called the call center 3 times, had trouble getting through with the AI attendant. When I finally got through a man said he would transfer me to another extension . There was a 45 minute hold . I tried filling out the request from the link but when it went to the map and said to point out on the map where I was, it was almost impossible to navigate! I was on the side of the highway and not an address. I had a blowout and almost got in an accident. Then when I got out to change my tire, it was 20 degrees with wind chill of 0. When the individual arrived in 45 minutes he was helpful and fixed my tire. I had to work this weekend in the winter storm in texas. After work my truck wouldn't start. After several options I used my Roadside assistant. Knowing it would not be fast because alot of people were stuck I was prepared to wait. First it was about 90 minutes, no big deal. Then I tried to reach the company that was going to tow me home. No answer, ok they're busy. Called state farm back and got the automated run around. State farm Called me back they're not able to get the company on the phone either. 3 1/2 hours later I find my own tow home. State Farm is hiring Subcontractors who are getting paid probably 10's of thousands of dollars each month in their contracts and NOT providing the service they are asked to do. This is waste and abuse and if they were to remove the providers who refuse to address customers concerns our rates would go down phenomenally. How is it that I asked twice for someone to come by to change out a tire I felt unsafe to drive with and each time they explained why I didn't need to. The man that loves me who is tied up with an enormous amount of work because he is a man of integrity in insurance said to me,"You're not going anywhere with that tire, we're getting you a new one right now. That's because he loves me and cares. Unfortunately not everyone is in the service industries to help but only for the money. State Farm, get rid of these type of subcontractors, they will cause your standing and ratings to do way down and put you out of business. I do background checks on these subcontractors, perhaps you'd like me to vet them for you here in broward county Florida. read more

The text message contained a link to a web site that State Farm expected me to fill out from my cell phone in order to summon a tow truck. That web site didn't work. They offer roadside assistance for can am. If you can avoid them do so. They are the Uber of towing. They send it out to whoever signed up to tow. In 7 1/2 ours I was assigned 5 companies and never got towed. All you get are scripted apologies. You deserve better, don't do it. read more

The 3rd party call center used by State Farm is beyond incompetent. My husband and I accidentally locked our beach bag in the trunk of our car on a Sunday evening. The bag contained everything. Keys, both of our wallets and phones. We borrowed a strangers phone to call roadside assistance. The representative (actually two). Could not locate our policy or, in fact, find either of our information. They kept asking for our policy number. Um.....that's stuck in the car. We tried to give them both of our names, phone numbers, home address, license plate number, even the vehicle VIN. Nothing!! As far as they're concerned, we don't exist. After trying all this with one representative, we hung up and tried again with another. Unfortunately getting the same result. A phone call to our local agent on, who is wonderful, on Monday morning confirmed yes, we have coverage (which we knew) and yes, the 3rd party call center is crap. Do yourself a favor and call someone local for help and submit your roadside assistance with your local agent. These 4rd party people do not know how yo do their jobs. read more

My story is not much different than the ones before this. RV broke down in a southern Nevada rest area. ER service woman did not know where Nevada was! Eventually had to give her coordinates. She sent out a tow truck for a car after being told we were as BIG as a TRUCK! Called again...different agent. He sent out a proper tow vehicle. But in the process of speaking to each of the agents over and over again, one or both of them cancelled my credit card mileage overage payment. Then the tow service had their check from State Farm cancelled! Months later both myself and the tow company had made numerous phone calls to our State Farm agents (mine in Junction City, OR). And we got nowhere. We even had the phone number for Agero. I popped into my agents office, and he promised to help get a new check to the tow company. I believe he 'round filed' my paperwork, as I walked out. Two tows in Nevada...State Farm never helped...paid to the tow companies $5000.00+ I will never ever use this service again. This is my second experience using - or should I say "attempting" to use - my roadside assistance coverage through State Farm insurance. I've been with State Farm for 22 years. Both of these experiences were identical: call for a tow; promised a tow within two hours; updated promise an hour after that (so three hours) and still a no-show. I had my car towed to the dealership and in the process my key fob was lost. So the dealership and tow company pointed fingers at each other with nothing being resolved. Now they want me to pay for the key fob that they lost. Contacted my agent which was useless and they submitted a claim which automatically gets denied. They asked if I had photos proving my claim lol What good is it to have photos of a tow driver towing my car? Should I have gone to the dealership to hand them my key and request to be taken home. Cancel that ish and sign up for AAA. My car broke down and I actually thought, "Good thing I can call State Farm!!" Let me tell you, the commercials are all lies. I called for a tow truck and was assured one was on its way. I called an auto shop and they were expecting my car. Ok, so far so good! It was a hot summer day, upwards of 90 deg F and we were lucky to have been able to pull over on a small street. When you call for a truck, they text you a link so that you can track the truck that's heading your way. I got a link, but no tow truck, and no real ETA. I called back after 30 minutes and the rep told me that he couldn't get ahold of the tow truck but that I should keep waiting. Ok, no problem - it's a Saturday, I get it - things can be busy. 20 minutes later, I call back, and the rep tells me that the tow person has cancelled, so they'll connect me to another truck. Ok... at this point I call a friend to come get me because I have my dog with me and the shade and what little water I have can only do so much! 40 minutes later, STILL NO TRUCK. I call back AGAIN. And am assured a truck is STILL ON ITS WAY. I can recount every instance of the 7-8 times I ended up calling them only to be told that someone is on their way when they were NOT. I got texts with false hope saying the truck is almost there. 6 hours later, STILL NO TRUCK. And the auto shop has closed, and it's starting to get dark. I'm lucky I live nearby, but each time they told me they were close by, I'd have my friend take us back to my car. This happened several times and a truck would not show up, so we'd go back to my place. If state farm, at any point, was able to tell me there was NO tow truck coming, I could have just called a local tow service (and I did, as backup, in case they did tell me that. But since they kept telling me a truck was on its way, I never ordered the local service). I cannot emphasize enough how frustrating it was to be constantly assured someone was coming, when in fact, they were NOT. Several days later, a friend let me piggyback off her AAA to get my car towed, and they estimated an ETA of 40 mins. They got there in 20 and got my car to the auto shop with plenty of time to spare. Did I also mention that each call to State Farm resulted in being on hold for 10-20 minutes each?! On my last call to them to cancel the stupid tow truck, there was an automated option and I thought, finally I can press 2 (or whatever it was) to just cancel this thing, but then it TOLD ME TO STAY ON HOLD TO TALK TO A REP. Even cancelling the tow truck was a hassle. NEVER AGAIN. I cancelled my roadside assistance with state farm and signed up for AAA the very next day. RIDICULOUS. Daughter's car broke down 50 miles from us. Single mom. Grandson waiting to be picked up after ball game around 9 pm. She called SF for a tow. Quoted 90 to 120 minutes. In meantime we drive an hour to get grandson home and get her a vehicle to use. I get to her to wait with her. After 2 hours she called tow company SF assigned on to be told they had canceled the tow as had no driver available!! NO one notified my daughter!!! Now after 11:30 pm. Co tacted SF who said so sorry we will assign another company. Will be 60-90 minutes. ARE YOU SERIOUS!! Daughter called a local tow company who showed up in 15 minutes to tow her the one mile to her home. If I could give 0 stars I would. It's a joke that this is considered a service. We needed a motorcycle towed after the clutch went out. We made our first call around 6:30pm. We were still waiting at 2:30am and were NEVER picked up. I had to call a private tow company for service and was picked up in 20 minutes. Prior to calling the private tow we were given 90 to 120 wait times, just to have those times come up and be given another 90 to 120 min wait time from the same provider. We ended up asking for a second provider since the first one hadn't come after 4 hrs. This happened again with the second provider. The cherry on top was that neither the provider or State Farm let us know if the delay. We just had to keep calling after our "Tracker" went from showing an ETA to not. We never received any info from State Farm that our tow would be delayed. We had to call multiple times an hour to get updates and be reassured that someone was coming. But no one was. Even dealing with State Farm was shocking at their lack of concern for us as customers. They just didn't care. Like why have a tracker system that doesn't actually track the truck being sent to you? It's just a count down from the ETA and it gets reset. Why not just actually inform your customers of what's happening? The lack of reliable vendors and terrible communication from State Farm make this service useless. Go ANYWHERE else for this service. read more

Horrible. Broke down on the freeway, told them I was not safe. I was almost hit twice. 7:22 requested assistance- told it would be 60-90 minutes at 7:41. Yes it took them 19 minutes to even find me a tow. I told them I was not in a safe area and asked for an update about an hour later and the lady in the chat said they were 14 minutes out. 8:49 tow was canceled because no one could get ahold of the guy. This was after the girl on the State Farm chat said 14 minutes. 9:05 they find me a new tow, now it's 50-80 minutes out. I contact them again and say I'm not safe- this is all in the chat because they won't give you a phone number. I finally got someone to get me out of there and left it with the keys in it. Took me an hour to get into contact with someone to let them know I'd left and keys were in there. When I get back from vacation I'm getting a new insurance provider and sticking to AAA. read more

It's a disaster experience with this road service from State Farm. I requested a tow service and they left me waiting for more than 3 hours. I kept contacting them from the chat with some agents. They always say they are coming around 15-20mins. And yes, it was 3 hours... Funny thing is they provided the phone number but I could not call that number at all??? I have tried to use this service 2x within 12 months for two different vehicles. First time was for a failed fuel pump on a Land Rover . . . waited 3-4 hours for the tow. Second time due to a coolant hose coming loose on my Daughters Ford. This time two different tow trucks automatically cancelled without notice, while my 17 year old daughter was stranded on the side of the freeway in a sketchy area for over 3 hours. We ended up calling a tow truck company, paid cash and got quick service. When submitting this claim for reimbursement, we were told that submitting an Emergency Road Service claim will cause a claim on the policy thereby increasing insurance rates, on an accident free, good student teenager. We know these poor teens already pay astronomical insurance rates. I guess if you wreck your car this is nice to have to cover the tow when you are already filing a damage claim. Otherwise only purchase if you like waiting hours for a tow truck and you like your entire insurance rates to go up every time you have a road service claim. Fastest way to get a tow is to pay cash, look elsewhere for emergency road side assistance coverage. I would not recommend this service and I would proactively have it removed from all my auto policies. read more
