This company is a rip off!! My son's car got towed by them due to being in an accident. The next day I called and asked for the bill amount. She said $331. That included: $110 Lift Tow $10 for 2 miles $25 Environmental Clean up fee $15 oil dry fee $50 impound fee (which why was my vehicle impounded)? $45 Storage fee $5 title search fee 3% credit card service fee Also was told can't pay over the phone. It has to be in person only. Get there to pay, advise them that I have another company coming to tow it to my home town. They said well that's gonna cost you an additional $150. I said for what?!? They said for us to go get it and bring it to the front of the gate. I said first off, I never asked for it to be impounded. Second, I have already paid your impound fee and you want to charge me more? She said we impound all vehicles if you don't pay while it's getting towed, so nobody comes a gets it and leaves without paying. I said well that's not the case here. They took 2 and half hours to come out to tow my vehicle. The dispatcher was rude and argued with me about how long I was waiting. My extended warranty chose them. I understand I fell asleep waiting from 7 am to 9:23 am, but I had to call them again to start over and waited long until 12:00 pm. So, I chose CHUCKS, way better customer service. I complained to Car Shield about them too and suggested they don't do business with them because the lady was rude on the phone and kept arguing with me and cancelled my tow. We called at 5:20 on Mother's Day saying that we had a flat on the highway, we changed the tire and just needed some air because the spare was low. They told us no problem, they'd be there in 30-45 minutes. We called 45 minutes later and the lady told us the driver had been rerouted to a wreck, but would be there in 15-20 minutes. We called back in 30 minutes, the lady told us he was on his way, less than 10 minutes away. I explained that we are from Kansas City and have two small kids on the side of the highway with us. We called back in 15 minutes and she told us he was getting gas at Casey's down the road. When the guy arrived at 7:20, I asked him how bad the wreck was and he replied "What wreck?" I can't say enough positive things about this company. I called AAA who notified Joe's that my keys were locked in the trunk. Within a short time I received a call from Rodney that he was 12 min away. He arrived quickly and determined that it would be more difficult to get in the trunk since the car battery was dead. Take a guess where my battery was ? Yep in the trunk, of course!! This made it a challenge, but the Technician Rodney would not give up! Not only did he find his way into the trunk, but he was able to check my battery, and determined that it needed to be replaced! He had a new battery with him, and was able to change it out and get me back on the road. He saved me a trip to the BMW dealership, because of course, I have no idea how to change a battery in the trunk! He also saved me from having to get a locksmith, which would have cost $$$$. This guy went way over and above to help me, he deserves a big time raise!! I will definitely keep their number on hand, and call them in the future. I had my vehicle towed the other day from a parking lot that had no towing sign and no reflection that my car would be towed without a permit. I tried to make an appeal with one of the managers. She gave me very intense attitude and kept cutting me off stating that "i should have known" without any strong reasoning. On 4-17-23, I had to call Gieco roadside assistance to get my car out of a ravine I had gone down. They contacted Joe's Towing and Recovery and let me know this. I called Joe's and told them they would need a larger than usual truck to get me out. Two hours later, a driver named Kyle showed up with a light duty flatbed truck. He assessed the situation and determined that if he were to try and tow me out, he would get stuck as well. He took pictures of my car and the situation and sent them to Joe's and called them as well saying he would get stuck if he tried the job and that a bigger truck was needed. He was told by his supervisor to go ahead and try it anyway. Kyle got my car on the back of his truck and proceeded to get stuck as he predicted. He called Joe's and a 8 ton truck was sent. It then got stuck as well. A third truck had to be sent out to get them out. Per Joe's policy, all of the phone calls were recorded. The next day when I went to get my car, I was presented with a bill for $1500. I have no problem paying a reasonable price - the cost of the second truck - for the service but I do not think I should have to pay for all three trucks, seeing as I told them they needed a bigger truck and - more importantly - their own employee told them he would get stuck and a bigger truck was needed. I called on 4-25-23 to discuss the charges and was told someone would be in touch. A week went by and I heard from no one. I called again on 5-2-23, was connected to an answering machine where I left a message asking to be called and heard from no one. I called back on 5-3-23 and spoke to someone and was told no one could help me but the president of the company. I told her I needed to speak to him. I got no call. Again, I will pay a reasonable price but I think I should be refunded some of the money. Had they called me back this could have been avoided. read more

There very quick with communication, verified information/location, and kept me informed while I waited on truck. The communication with the office is key, I appreciated timing updates and how they managed my stress and frustration with my car trouble. Joes towing is terrible! They're employees are rude and disrespectful. I had my car towed there after an accident with the doors UNLOCKED. After I payed $681.36 to get my car released and have it towed to my house they did not give me my keys. When I called them and let them know they did not give me my keys they told me they were in the car. I went to go check in the car and my doors were locked. They told me that my doors locked because my cars battery died and that I had to have someone else unlock the doors or pay them another $75 to have my doors unlocked. My question is how do they know my cars battery died and what does that have to do with my car doors locking? My car broke down at a stop light in Bloomington and Joe's took care of me and took my car to the tow yard and it went fine except for them not letting me use the restroom during my 1.5 hour wait for a ride and a $96 bill for towing me a mile and about 5 minutes of their time. When I returned to get my car with a tow dolly 2 days later, they wouldn't even let me air up the tires on my tow dolly and told me to "get out of the yard". I was just asking if I could plug in my air compressor and the jerk said I was acting like "I owned the yard. Get out of here". 2 weeks ago I had my battery changed at FARM AND FLEET. Last night when I picked my son up from school my car wouldn't start when we went to leave. He had been informed by roadside that my car was needing to be towed. He was very kind mannered told me his truck was on one call in Decatur and I wouldn't need to worry about waiting he would get my car to my house as soon as his guy got back to town. So I went about my evening. The janitor informed me because of where I was parked I had to move it before 10pm or the city would have it towed and impounded. 930 rolled around and my car was still at the school. I called and called ACE'S TOWING AND RECOVERY 3 times. NOBODY answered! So I went with 2 different friends now and pushed my car to a safe parking lot where it wouldn't be towed. Around 11pm I called back to STATE FARM and ROAD AMERICA and explained what had happened. They both apologized and sent notice to my agent as well and contacted JOE'S TOWING to come tow my car. MATT who is the driver who arrived from JOE'S hands down is amazing! He brought my car to my house. After he dropped it he asked if I would like him to take a look. I of course said sure I'm open to anything at this point. I popped the hood he wiggled the loose terminal asked to give it a try and BAM it STARTED RIGHT UP! I of course felt like an idiot after 5 separate people trying that and everyone concluding it was my starter that had gone out.
