My friends and I did a walk-in here on a Saturday evening. It was busy, but not too busy that we had to wait long for an aisle to throw some axes. Our instructor was very helpful. He went through the different axes and how to throw each one with either one or two hands. He came by every so often to check on how we were doing and to help fix our form. It was a fun time, and I'm sure I'll be back! read more

Dropped in late Saturday afternoon and there was only one guy playing. The front desk guy was friendly, welcoming and helpful. He was so patient with us while teaching us how to axe throw and watching us miserably fail lol but we eventually got our momentum going and it was fun! I noticed the atmosphere has a different vibe to it compared to other axe throwing places. Wha stood out were the plants all over. I was so distracted by them. What we also noticed was the guy didn't warn us about our shoes and I was wearing sandals. Luckily my friend pointed it out and said he shouldve mentioned it. So that's not good and negligent on his part. I didn't feel safe after playing. Besides that, it was cool and fun. read more

A good friend of mine brought me to SSAC to try out some axe throwing, and we had a blast! Luckily, we didn't have to make any reservations, we were able to walk right in. The staff was thorough and explained how to toss the axes safely. Also gave us some time to practice before throwing on our own. The waiver process is very easy, you fill it out online and you are good to go. They had some cool video games in the back, and there was plenty of space for us to throw some axes. I also appreciate being shown how to play various games while throwing, it was a good time to show who was the best! The doggie on site was cool as well. I am looking forward to coming back really soon! read more

So much fun, the worker (so handsome btw) was so helpful and attentive! I made a reservation, but we ended up arriving earlier and they were able to accommodate us prior to our reservation time. The employee took the time to explain how to throw each of the axes (there were multiple different sizes/types) and watched each of us throw a few times to make sure that we were doing it correctly, as well as safely. He then allowed us to enjoy our hour and would randomly give us feedback on how to correct our throws, which we really appreciated. We are definitely coming back when visiting Santa Barbara again. Highly recommend, 10/10! read more

This was my first time going axe throwing and I would definitely go back again. State Street Axe Club is a great place to try a new activity or go with a group! It has a fun bowling like atmosphere except you end up throwing axes and other objects. The staff is awesome and gives great coaching on how to throw each object. I came in with zero experience and was able to consistently hit the target and get the object to stick. If you want to try something new check out State Street Axe Club. Not only is it a great time that a group can enjoy but the owner and staff is awesome and it located right in the middle of lower State! read more

Took a day trip from LA to Santa Barbara with no itinerary. We so happen to walk by and decided to give this place a try . State street Axe club was the highlight of our day trip ! This place is so cool! Such a unique experience. I hadn't ever thrown an axe before and the staff made it feel really easy to follow along and understand. It also feels super safe with individual walls in between each throwing stall. It's a great location right in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara with lots of parking options around in the public lots. The price to go is based on the hour per person and unfortunately doesn't decrease the more people you bring, which is a bit of a bummer. Great for a big crowd, though! read more

When in Santa Barbara-- throw axes, why not?! located on the main drag, state street! you can make reservations, its for an hour. We called ahead, but there was room. You get a nice intro and practice throwing axes and obviously safety info. Was actually pretty fun, and the more you through, ideally the better you get. The owner was there that day and was super helpful in helping better our throws and aim. read more

Had a lot of fun here the other day. Chanced upon on a Sunday and had the place to ourselves. The staff was very friendly and professional throughout the tutorial. They take safety very seriously and efficiently walk you through the techniques on how to throw each different axe style including the military shovels. This place is so fun! We went here on a second date and had the best time! Our instructor turned out to be the owner - he had so much energy and we were cracking up and having an amazing time. They opened in August of 2022. You pay for an hour and the instructor stays around if you need help or have questions s. The music is really fun (that night was hip hop from the early 2000s) and we luckily had a reservation as the place was packed (Saturday night). I strongly recommend trying it at least once! read more

Everyone needs to check out state street axe club! If you haven't thrown an axe before, you will still enjoy this place. One of the employees will provide you with an intro on how to throw an axe and help you until you've successfully thrown one on the board. This is a great activity for a date night or a group. Honestly, axe throwing is more entertaining than other activities like mini golf or bowling and state street axe club has great prices. My boyfriend and I came on a Friday night at around 10:30 pm without a reservation (you can reserve a lane online) and was helped out by the owner, Brett. There's an option to play for $25/30 mins or $35/hour per person - so 2 players playing for 1 hour would cost $70. I was blown away with how great the customer service was. The owner Brett is extremely helpful, generous, and funny; the type of guy who wants people to enjoy themselves rather than make a buck. Everyone should really try axe throwing and check this place out! read more

We showed up for a good friend's bday party and had the best time ever! Brett is such a fun guy and the whole crew put us right at ease. I'm not what you'd call adventurous, athletic or skilled in any way so I was shocked when they still put an axe in my hand. And wouldn't you know it, I'm pretty good!! The team gives great tutorials and advice. Then they showed us how to play a few axe throwing games. I didn't dominate but I won a round so that's good enough for me. Ok axe throwing is my new favorite hobby! We had a blast on date night here! All the employees were very friendly and helpful, loved the environment and that the pups get to hang out as well. Great Halloween decorations all over with nightmare before Christmas theme. I'm glad that they had fans inside going at all times. Snacks was very helpful in teaching us the games and getting our technique down. We were even given a little booklet to keep score. The only bummer was that we had a free hour for one of us and were still charged. FYI $35 per person for an hour. read more

We were able to schedule our appointment ahead of time and bring our pup with us. We had a great time, and I would definitely return. Note: If you're dog isn't okay with loud sounds, this might not be the best environment for him or her as there are axes and other implements that hit walls loudly from time to time. Also, there are some other dogs that may be onsite and off leash when you visit that "run the place." read more

What a great place to go for date night!! I have never been axe throwing before so I was glad this place opened here in Santa Barbara. The staff was super friendly and helpful! Another plus was that they are 100% dog friendly! they had two aces and a tactical shovel. It is definitely a fun place to go. Me and my homie were in town for a week for a job. We were heading home for the night and walked by state street axe club and we both turned to each other and said ," I've never done this. Always wanted to!" As soon as we said that we both agreed to head in and try it. Lol we were so tired from work and it was kind of late. But we went in anyways and we're greeted by Brett. He was super rad. We paid for half hour. He went thru instructions and over safety with us. He went over how to throw two handed, one handed and how to throw a shovel( it's wild and so different). We had so much fun. You can axe Brett he was super axe-ellent lmao. He made the experience so much fun and we're so glad we got to meet him and throw axes. If you're nice and cool like us you'll probably get pie haha. Maybe not, we're pretty cool lol. Brett thank you so much for the fun time and you were such a great host! I'll start by saying I have terrible aim but within about five minutes of practice, I had the method down. The various games make it fun and the hour flew by with the different types of axes and switching between traditional competition games and unique challenges. The vibe in here is really chill. There's no judgement for people like me who can't throw and it's very come as you are. In a dress and heels? No worries, you can still throw. The couple next to us were super dressed up and they crushed it. Such a fun date night. I haven't had the opportunity to throw any axes yet, but I am definitely going to!! This place looks like so much fun and an awesome way to get out your aggressions ;) However, I did want to give a shout out to Brett, the wonderful owner, for donating a 2 person AND 4 person gift certificate to the DOS PUEBLOS high school After-Prom party! I am the cochair for this worthy cause - we host a big party after prom so the kids have somewhere safe to go! We host it at Bowlero (formally Zodos) and provide games, food, music, photo booths and best of all, tons of amazing prizes. This is all volunteer run so we depend upon the community to donate the prizes so the kids will stay there all night long, until 4 AM, safe and sober with us! Plus what an amazing way to celebrate the end of high school! Brett did not hesitate to offer a donation, responding to me by the following day. I love family run businesses because they really care about their community. This looks like so much fun, I cannot wait to go! I'll write another review once I get to experience it ... read more

Such a fun activity- especially when you have something that's gotten under your skin, so to speak. Spent an hour session here and they provide instruction along with safety protocols and then you get to throw axes and/or shovels. I personally enjoyed throwing the smaller and lighter axe one handed much more than the larger axe with both hands. Each time the axe hit the board, it just felt great! It just took a few throws to get a feel for it and then sometimes I would throw and it would just bounce off the board and land on the floor. The group next to us posted a poster over the wooden bullseye but I personally just pictured the root of any personal issues I have and when I hit that bullseye???? All I can say is that it was definitely therapeutic! The cost was $70/hour for the 2 of us and well worth it. The employees were friendly and helpful. If you want to try something different, I highly suggest it! read more

My friends didn't want to rage so we did the next thing, axe throwing. lol They instruct you how to throw an axe and show you how as well. They'll also stand there to see you throw it before letting you be with your party. It was fun and a lot harder than it looks. Overall, we had fun figuring out what techniques work and what didn't for us. Definitely a unique experience and something different

We went during free swim time from 12-4pm and it was only $10 for ages 3 and up. There's a big shallow kiddie pool with water activities and then 2 water slides on the back side of the park. There's a rec pool that maybe goes to 4.5 ft depth so it's perfect for just enjoying the water when you can't lap swim because the pool is crowded. A large picnic table area can be found in the middle of the center too so you can being lunch and snacks too. There a larger Olympic size pool on the west end of the center that can be used for lap swimming so overall it's great for all ages and swimming levels. We're planning to be here quite a bit for the summer! There's also cabanas to change into and showers to rinse off before and after swimming.

The pools & facilities are clean and in great condition. Water temperature is about 78 degrees and they have multiple pools to accommodate lap swimming, classes, and a kid's pool. The restrooms are pretty clean, contain 3 private shower stalls, multiple open showers, and a machine to wring out your bathing suit which is a plus. I hope to be back next summe

Parking is limited, there are free areas where you have to drive over a curb, but my car did fine with parking. The pools are the hottest at the top and gets cooler on the bottom. If you are curious to see if there were more pools past the top, there isn't as I asked those who ventured a little further. I definitely recommend this hike if you're thinking about it and it's a cool day. There was some incline that I wouldn't find enjoyable if it was any hotter. I'm pretty beginner at hiking and this took me a little longer than anticipated to get to the springs, but if you're an avid hiker you can probably get to the trail within 35-45 minutes! The trail is my favorite activity I've done in Santa Barbara so far!

Well, can you say, besides WOW! Went into this place I seen people throwing axes! Had to see for myself, and yep, throwing axes! There were people in groups using lanes like bowling but axe throwing. I was greeted at the door by 2 cool dogs and then a guy at the desk who turned out to be the owner, was cool as all out. After spending an hour throwing axes and having the most fun I've had since I was a kid playing with my brother, it was time to go and I didn't want to just like when I was a kid!:) Thank you State Street Axe Club for bringing me my youth back to me even for just an hour!
