The cages offer slow pitch softball or 40-80mph fast pitch. Tokens are $4 for 25 pitches. Bat and helmet rentals are free. Bats are pretty beat but serviceable. Softballs are pretty hard and heavy. First time here. Brought my kids. Starting in one cage that didn't work. Go back in like to get another token. Go to different cage. Also didn't work, but guy said it "should work." Go back to that cage, throws 3 balls, stops working. Go back to the guy, he says "weird, it's should work." Repeats again, quits after 3 balls. He says to try a different cage. We've now been here 20 minutes and 0/2 cages working. No thanks. I'll take a refund. The guy scrolls his screen for 5 minutes, asking when we purchased. Seemed pretty dazed by the idea of a cash payment I made 20 minutes ago. Eventually gave up, passed on our tokens to some other kids. Hopefully they have better luck. Won't be back. read more

My machine jammed halfway through. Tried telling the attendant up front and he was trying to argue with me that it wasn't. It was throwing the ball 2 feet before landing on the ground, pretty sure that's not how machines are supposed to work. Oh, and this was just after it threw one that almost hit me in the head (80 mph cage), luckily I was able to back off but it still got my right arm good. Machines are not being properly maintained and calibrated. They should never be that far off aim. 100% a safety hazard. read more

I recently stopped by when passing through on a roadtrip and had such a positive experience. I used to come here yeeeears ago back in college and was so happy it was even better than expected. The real highlight was the staff. I am ish I remembered her name but she was so welcoming and friendly it really made a difference. I just got two tokens worth of softball pitches since I didn't want to commit much time. Pitching matching worked well, I was able to borrow a bat and didn't have to wait. Super positive experience! I love this place! I've been visiting batting cages since I was a youngster playing Little League baseball. I don't play baseball or golf much but I do enjoy batting cages and driving ranges - is that weird? Anyway, after so many years of visiting batting cages in many states, this one is my favorite. It's easy to use. It's clean and always kept in good repair. It's in the beautiful city of Santa Barbara not far from the beach. The staff is friendly, polite and do a great job. They have baseball and softball machines. Slow pitch to fastballs. They have bats there that you can use. You don't need to bring any gear. More than half of the pitching machines are faulty; you can't tell how high or low the pitches will be until you start because there's no light to indicate your height adjustment. Wasted at least $6 worth of pitches since there's no way to pause and adjust. $3 for 20 pitches may not sound so pricey, but i spent $14 for 100 pitches and I ran out after 10-20 minutes. That's pretty expensive considering it wasn't even possible to hit most of them (way too high or way too low). read more

Came here for the tacos next door & decided to challenge my bf to who can hit more balls. We're totally amateurs, but it was a lot of fun! If it's your first time I recommend getting a couple tokens, and go with the softball setting. My arms were sore after just a few rounds lol. It's relatively easy to purchase the tokens and they're at a fair price. You then decide which cage to go to I believe it runs from 40-80MPH. Some of the cages pitch too low which makes it really difficult to hit. Occasionally (probably once per visit on average) you will need assistance because the feeder gets jammed and you're stuck waiting for a pitch. It's not a terrible place to do batting cages, it's better than the options I've seen throughout the 805. Just don't expect the world out of this place. I once hit a ball out of the net so park at your own risk. read more

Pretty much the only game in town but I'm impressed that they've made some nice upgrades to the cages. You can now choose from slow pitch/high arc softball to fast pitch softball with variable speeds (in each cage) and the usual 50/60/70 mph hardball cages. Staff is really nice but there always seems to be a few technical glitches. In any case (did I mention its the only game in town:-)! I would be writing this post to say how pleasant my first experience at any type of batting cage was, which is mostly true if the weirdo alone in the shed that is this location's front desk/office wasn't such a h*ck, so the customer service seems to be non-existent if you approach the employees with a question. The downside is that usually the guy working there is more involved in whatever he's watching on TV that what's happening in the cages....what's happening in the cages is that frequently the machines get jammed and you lose your rythym. The upside is that usually when you're standing in front of them, they are helpful in finding appropriate headwear. Also, if you have an SB Axxess card here, you get one free token (a $2.50 value based on individual token rate). The thing about it is, is that I'm pretty sure these are the only batting cages of this sort in SB so, what else are you gonna do? read more

I usually really enjoy coming here but lately the machines have just been breaking more than usual. The balls don't shoot out entirely so you end up wasting about half of your shots. Today especially was saddening because the Asian guy who was working here was clearly giving away free tokens to what seems like his girlfriend. Which is not that big of a deal but then he himself WHILE ON THE CLOCK starting taking over the cages while paying customers were waiting to use the cages. Extremely rude and frustrating. read more

This is a pretty basic batting cage but they just upgraded to be adjustable high this on the pitches both softball and baseball. If you have a Ventura axxess card it's a free round everyday. read more

So it is the only cages in town that I know of. You know the people that work there are great - willing to help you out. But, a couple of the machines are tweaked. The 60 MPH comes in double time when I was there last so the only way to hit both is to swing at one and bunt the other. Also, one of the 50's will hit you. Other than that, good times. read more

Six years and two owners later, batting cage No. 1 still messes up. The single employee - 20 year old laconic dolt in a wife beater T - seemed to go out of his way to be obnoxious. We were two kids, two young adults and parents, the only customers there at noon on Friday and this guy did everything he could to either ignore our concerns -- bat/helmet sizes, package deals on tokens -- or literally give us the mad dog stare. Good place to practice in town and a lot of fun. Pretty cheap for how many tokens you get, and overall fun place I know I will return to again and again. Down side is it looks a little old and overdue for some maintenance. For example, a guy was practicing baseball fast pitches in the cage next to me doing softball slow pitches, and the ball went through a hole in the fence, narrowly missing my head. Nets need to be updated, but I will still go again since it's a fun pass time in town that I'm really glad to have in SB. read more

It's so nice to have this place down the street. And what a great way to release the pressures of the day while waiting for traffic to thin out. I bat for hours but have never stepped onto a baseball field. As for complaints about the machines jamming up, there is just as much chance that it doesn't shut off after 19 pitches. This batting cage changed my son's life. He wasn't going to make the high school team because my husband couldn't figure out how to teach Brandton how to lay down a sick drag bunt. An employee took my son Bradenton under his wing and after thousands of tokens in the slow pitch softball cage my precious boy made the team. His jersey number is "Bat Boy". This place is in a great location.. Near the beach so u get fresh air.. The staff is wonderful and very helpful. They have various speeds for the balls which is great for all ages.. I bring my nephews here to practice their swings.. Can't beat the prices wat so ever.. I recommend this place a lot.. read more
