Traveling to Grand Rapids, we stopped along the way for lunch at Tabor Hill Winery. We haven't been…read morethere in years. I forgot how good their restaurant is. We sat outside overlooking the vineyard. Molly was our server. She was friendly and engaging. Lunch was a walleye sandwich with chips for hubby and the fig & prosciutto flatbread for me. The walleye had a crispy crust coating the moist and tender fish. I took a bite of hub's sandwich and it was so good. My flatbread, though, was amazing. I'm all about a good crust and this one was perfection. So crispy, yet light with all air pockets in the crust. Of course, I love anything fig and this didn't disappoint. I ate 3 squares and took the rest with me. Of course being at the vineyard, we ordered a glass of wine. My husband had the albariño and I ordered the sauvignon blanc. I didn't care for the sauvignon blanc. When the manager came by, we raved about the food but I was honest about the wine. She gave me a taste of the chardonnay and she was right. It was good. I was happy she switched my wine. The negatives are the wasps are nuisances, and there were no traps to catch them. I was dodging them the entire meal. I guess it's hazard when dining al fresco. The other annoyance was the water glasses are small, and my water was never refilled and my glass sat empty even with Molly and the manager stopping by during the meal. Since the glass is small, they should leave a bottle of water at the table or make it a point to check and recheck the water glasses. This is a nice stop for lunch on the Michigan wine trail.

At first we were missing the old standbys and the plentiful choices. However, once we ordered we were satisfied with the fresh and delicious food choices. The new 9 dollar appetizer really clicked and our entree of trout was well prepared and something out of the ordinary. The Mille floure for dessert capped of a cozy anniversary dinner. As always the wine was delicious and worth the visit! Tabor Hills is a gem and always the right choice for any occasion. Tabor Hills service was friendly and attentive and the food reflecting upscale artistry of the culinary arts!
