As a gay person myself, I would consider this to be the BEST gay bar/discotech in Dallas! The dance floor is huge, the bars are numerous, many stools and places to set your drink, and to top it off, there is a huge patio and balcony system in the back and The Rose Room on the second floor is also huge and puts on GREAT female impersonator shows (drag shows)! S4 is a great place to just go and have fun and meet random people. Its free for 21+ and $15 for 18+ which really blows but thank God I turned 21! The music Fri-Sat is techno, popish but I've heard Sunday is the hip-hop music. Drinks cost your average, I think $7 a small Papa Smurf drink. Its HUGE! I went here the other night and just used my card to pay the cover (they told me $8 but then later on my bank statement it said $10) and to buy my friend one drink because I spilled hers and I left around midnight. I don't know what happened but I had found some suspicious charges on my bank account and was reporting fraud, and apparently, there were about 10 transactions from S4 from midnight to 6 am!!! And I definitely was not there and did not make those purchases! It was a rough night and I did black out, but the security guards helped out and told my friends to get me an Uber home... anyways either S4 made fraudulent charges on my debit card after I left or somebody took my card, started a tab or something, and put my card back before I left the bar. Either way, it was super dead and I didn't even get a chance to dance, but I am sure most of these issues are probably my fault because I obviously don't know how to drink correctly, haha! I would probably give this place a chance again if I figure out that they weren't the ones responsible for all the charges on my card. read more

Visited this place for dancing and drinks. Really good atmosphere. Different floors offerend different entertainment. Club was fun, mixed music which I liked. Bars on all levels, drinks good and prices are extremely affordable. (5-8$/drink). Funny drag show with comedy and good music. I will definitely visit again when I am in town again. read more

When I go to other clubs in other cities I use this one as the centerpiece to judge whether I like it or not. I have been coming here for almost 7 years and like it. The club is large with many rooms. Unfortunately, the music on the main dance floor is usually too loud and too fast to dance to unless you just enjoy jumping up and down. There's to much treble and not enough bass in most of the songs too. I guess the party drug crowd might prefer this though. If you want good, danceable music at a gay club, you should check out the Eagle. It's a leather bar but the dancing is infinitely better. S4 does have some amusing drag shows if that's your thing, but you'll be swamped with bachelorette parties on any weekend night. S4 has some of the best drinks, drag shows and the best dance floor in Dallas (plus Bobby the bartender is awesome!) But the one thing S4 is lacking is a great DJ. The DJ that currently plays on Saturday nights sucks honestly. Whoever they are do not remix their own top 40 songs or any good music to dance to. It is trancelike and honestly gives people a headache. S4 would really make more money and get more customers in if they could find a better EDM top 40 DJ. I think these queens need to lay off the donuts and fried chicken. I've never seen so many inflatable drag queens in one place at the same time, the 'MC' Kelexis Davenport is the best, or maybe worst example, she must be 400 pounds and 5'5", which makes her one giant beach ball queen. Add that to her spews of racist comments that she feels are necessary on a weekly basis and you've got yourself one big waste of time. They do have, what I would call 'sexy' drag queens; Krystal Summers, Mulan Nguyen and Duc Tran Nguyen to name a few, but they don't get much on stage time, the lard asses are obviously intimidated by their beauty, or maybe they'll just eat them as an after chichen snack lol. read more

This is a straight guys review of a pretty stellar club. I am going to skip the drag show stuff and just talk about the dancing and atmosphere. I went the weekend after the Doma decision so everyone was pretty happy. Upon arrival we went up and got our id checked. There were no weird looks or mean bouncers and it felt welcoming to all. There is a lot of stereotype going on. I could not help but think of Stewie on family guy as I saw two shirtless men dancing to Katy Perry. The lighting was great and it had a really good feel to it. The music was not overly loud and although you could feel the bass it did not rattle your bones. The dancing was fun. People leave you alone and don't rub up on you on the dance floor. My girl and I had a great time dancing and it was a relief not to worry about someone trying to start a fight with me for accidentally bumping his girlfriend (I am very tall and people tend to occasionally try to pick fights with me). There were girls in groups there also just enjoying the dance floor without having dudes trying to slide in. If you want a good club where you can go and be with your woman and not worry about some of the crap you deal with elsewhere I highly recommend you give this club a try. read more

Okay so Sunday night + S4 = calling out Monday morning, seriously. I love the drag show here and by the end of the night at about 2:30 you can find me on the stage with the queens doing the cha cha cha. They are hilarious and I just love the awesome atmosphere in the room. There is an area for anything and everything you want to do here, the courtyard outside and patio are a haven for smokers, there's a lounge with a dart board and pool table for people who just want to drink and chill and the downstairs area is for the people who want to dance the night away. You can find a bartender in pretty much every corner downstairs and upstairs and they are super friendly. While most of the crowd here is friendly they are also very open so this is not a place for narrow minded individuals as you will be left with your jaw wide open and shocked for the remainder of the evening. I love this club because I don't have to worry about leaving with my ass hurting from aroused men bumping and grinding on me as I would in a straight club. This is definitely a place where I can dance and drink with my ladies and not worry about getting picked up. Sunday nights are also when they have dance competitions which are pretty good; I feel like I'm in a scene from you got served or something. The end of my visits at S4 end up with me not having a voice, my thighs and feet sore from dancing, my wallet missing any dollar bills I brought and being pissed drunk but extremely happy! read more

My husband and I took a chance thinking S4 wouldn't be open on a Sunday but luckily they were! We were some of the first ones through the doors as soon as they opened. There was no cover charge and we made our way back to the one bar that had beer on tap. The bartender Bobby is probably the best bartender we have ever encountered. EVER! We had a great time talking to Bobby and as it got later and some of the performers were coming in, he introduced us to them as if we were long lost friends. This is only the 2nd time we have been here since we live in Wichita Falls but it will most definitely not be the last. We had an amazing night! The drag show was outstanding and Bobby kept our drinks full. Even when he was completely swamped he would get right to us. Aside from Bobby, the rest of the place was great. S4 honestly was super popular & a blast at one point in time. Super crowded, loud & lively with long ass lines. Now it's extremely hit or miss, with much more emphasis on the miss side! Super lonely & dry, mostly filled with a bunch of barely legal teens & tired adults alike & there's never ever a line. I'm still surprised there's a cover charge for 21+ still on some nights?! Like c'mon now y'all. I'd gladly pay one if it was actually popping off inside but it's really not it's actually far from it! Blah. Cheap heavy-handed pours though so for that I guess I'll give a few stars! The atmosphere just isn't what it was long ago! The music isn't good & it just isn't the place to be & it's not worth the time or money. Get you some drinks here when it's free entry but afterwards go & move on to other places instead! read more

You know, I'm from Austin, and all I've heard about was how amazing S4 is. Well, I was impressed, but not that much. It didn't quite live up to the hype. The drag show was funny, but those are always just Money Grabs anyway. Then they had some lame ass chick doing some Music video and I'd never even heard of her and the music was awful and literally 75% of the dance floor cleared out when she came on around 12:30... who does that? Even after that, the "bumpin" atmosphere was never there and the floor never got crowded. And where were all these hot dallas guys at? Not there. And lord knows we tried, but we couldn't find a single hot bartender...not a single one in the whole place! WTF. And a $13 double...yikes. Maybe I'm an Austin snob, but I'll stick with Rain in Austin were the drinks run like water and are about that cheap, where the bois are always smokin, and the music and the dance floors is bumpin, and the bartenders are hot and certainly amazing! read more

The cover charge is ridiculous, I've seen it as high as $35. If you do go, make sure you check your bank account the next day. The door people and bartenders love to add extra tips for themselves. The drag show is getting pretty boring and repetitive and half of the people that go here are straight women trying to have fun with the gays or underage kids using fake IDs. OK, we went to the club for halloween, I'm 24, out of Le' closet about 2 yrs ago. I haven't had a whole lot of experience in gay bars, but this place rocks. It sure beat the hell out of any clubs in Arkansas. I had the absolute best time with my boi and our buddy. The music was awesome, and the scenery was.......very hot. The staff seemed pretty cool to me, we only used one bar the entire night, it was super busy, and a couple of times I had to wait 2-3 minutes to order a drink, but no biggie. The bartender was awesome, he never once had to ask what I was drinking or when I had to get drinks for the rest of my crew, he remembered, and he was hot as hell. The drink prices were about average, can't really complain. The dance floor was pretty cool and omg, they have a state of the art lighting system. We never had any problems with any peeps in the club or the staff. If you ever are in Dallas, I highly reccomend you at least give this club a chance. It is a very valuable asset to the LGBT community, and unlike any place I've ever been. When I had to come back to Arkansas, it absolutely killed me. I am ADDICTED to this place. I live 2 hours from Dallas and I am here EVERY weekend! Incredible trance, techno, top 40 mash-ups. Great atmosphere and decor. The dance floor is huge and you can dance all night long and never feel hot (my friends that don't dance and/or drink say it's very cold in there--I've never noticed lol). I've always had an incredible time and met many awesome people. I truly love going to the gayborhood. Another bonus is that they don't close until 4! When Rainbow Lounge in Ft. i went there a while back for a friends birthday. i had never been to a gay club before so the whole experience was brand new. from my experience it was a great night. people were friendly and a lot of cute guys although they were gay lol. dancing was crazy! i had fun and got to dance with a few guys there. drinks are ok, but a little pricey. recommend going if you want to dance and see some cuties! also they have a drag show upstairs. the show was amazing, but i would try and stay out of the spotlight or you might be called oprah or brittney spears. haha read more

Parking can be a hassle, but you just have to look for some in the streets. It doesn't hurt to park and walk over because the street is nice and many people do walk around during the weekends anyway. Cover charges depend on the night and time. The website tells you in details, but I think it's reasonable. I was introduced to clubbing with like $15/25+ covers so I thought it was good. At the entrance I could tell the guy checking my id is friendlier to people he finds attractive. He isn't rude to others or anything though. There is a huge dance floor with nice lighting. When I went on a Friday night the music was top 40 electro house mixes basically. I could really feel the dj so the music definitely got my body moving, but it could have also been the couple of slightly watered down drinks I had. Regardless, I was dancing like nobody was watching and I could have all night only if my friend wasn't tired. The dance floor is so huge that there is always some room even with many people already there. There were bars everywhere which was convenient. Even though most of the people there were gay, I still saw few different types of people there so that was nice. There is a patio you can go to. The patio seemed pretty...honestly I don't remember much cause it was dark and I was really tipsy. I remember there were places to sit and chat. Upstairs there is the lounge room which is spacey with comfy looking couches. It's perfect for those that just want to hang out and talk without yelling. The bartender there was nice and friendly, but I got some in other bars that weren't. Then there is the show room where you can watch the drag queens perform. Some of them are hot and some are interesting. If you want to be at the front be prepared to take out your dollar bills to give to them. Also, likely if you're at the front you may be approached by some of the performers. Since it was my first show, I had a REALLY good time. The show room was packed when I went around 11:45ish and some people giving tips were funny and really fun to watch cause they would dance with the performer and so on. I was a bit shy but I tipped one later on when the crowd got smaller. The performer came near giving like 1/3 hug saying thank you which was nice. Oh also, you can look down on the dance floor from upstairs, which is a good view. The women's restroom downstairs is big and fairly nice. I went to the women's restroom upstairs in the show room and it was small with only two stalls one broken. I would definitely come again to dance my butt off and see the show because I had a mighty good time! read more

Music is lame. They play Top 40 and old school disco remixes. Stereotypical idea of what a gay bar was in the 80's with updated beats. Everytime I go I wonder why it's pretty much empty. Well because the music. Of course alcohol will bring people in but the music is what attracts the masses. It's as if they don't care about making money anymore. If they changed the music up to a more solid quality of music they would have the place packed. It's a gay bar and the LGBTQ community hardly even goes anymore because the music is mediocre. Play less outdated vocals, eyesight after 2am and more heavy deep electro dark tribal house beats that keep people energized and pumped. When it's after 2 they say welcome to after hours but you can't tell without looking at a watch. The music in any after-hours bar/club changes to something more euphoric, erotic and exotic after 2am. It's as if someone turned their Spotify account on. It's a gay bar in 2018 and they wanna play Whitney Houston remixes that suck, every night. I don't get it. It's an iconic bar. One of the most iconic in DFW but they are making it more of a teenager bar with the music. I just don't understand. Change the music up. Take a risk and notice the difference. Everytime I ask people if they wanna go they are like "the music sucks"! I already have a Spotify account. I don't need to pay an extra $10-20 cover for it to be the same shit playing in a dance club. What happened to Dallas' gay nightlife? I absolutely love S4! I'm always here hanging out with my friends and the place is HUGE so it never gets too crowded where you can't enjoy yourself. The music played is always the Top Pop 40 songs and you can't help but to get out on the dance floor and boogie! There are plenty of bars in the place so you are never waiting too long to get a drink and they have a huge outside patio for your smoking friends to enjoy. I went on Sunday. It's "hip hop" night. They said good dance music would be played around 2:15 AM. I got there @ 2. The music was miserable and never got better. Nobody was dancing. Complete TRASH hanging around. I stayed until 2:40 and left disgusted. That place used to be packed on Sunday night. PACKED. Had a great night here, for the comedic factor alone. It wasn't intentionally funny, this place isn't a comedy club. But you could make a game out of watching people dance here. The characters at this place are worth the entry price alone! The music is great, the place is clean, the drinks are strong. Oh, and the space is huge. The dance floor is a little small, especially considering the size of the building, but its many other great qualities can help you get beyond that. I try to go use a pen at the bar so I can give my number to someone I met because her phone was dead and I get harassed and grabbed asking where my ID was even when I wasn't buying a drink. And my ID was outside and they wouldn't even hardly let me go get it. I was followed and yelled at when I was simply following order to go get it. So when I do get it and present it, I'm still asked to talk to the manager, but at this point I'm having an anxiety attack from being touched so aggressively, so I felt leaving was the best option instead of dealing with assholes.
