The only good thing about this place is the drag shows and those are even hit or miss. The fact that people 21+ still have to pay a cover is absurd. The staff are super rude all the time and so disrespectful. There are too many barely legal kids running around and bumping into you that it is just so unenjoyable. Although I hail from the San Francisco Bay Area, I'm up for an adventure in experiencing gay venues wherever they may be. So very glad to have had the privilege to go to S4, with a friend who's a native who also is well-versed in the history of the Gayborhood as well as most if not all the many venues on Cedar Springs and surrounding areas. I'm totally impressed--blown away, even--by the huge spaces afforded in S4 for the various stages and patio areas. Most impressive is the permanent drag stage and the fabulous drag shows, of which one I experienced my very first night in Dallas (and now I wish I had asked about and remembered all the amazing performers gracing that stage). I just had to wonder, is there a permanent drag stage in San Francisco (I know about Trannyshack, but the current venue housing that event, DNA Lounge, has revolving events)? If not, this is something SF really needs to address. Very spoiled to not only have my friend as my host/guide for the Gayborhood, but his connections with various folks at S4, especially with the bartender who he swears is the best in the house! A group of my friends were in line tonight, waiting for so long time only to encounter the rudest door lady at the door of this club. I did addressed her and told her she did not have to be so rude, specially after we had been waiting at the door for so long: I turned around to my friends and spoke to them and all of the sudden she started going off and calling the unknowledgeable police officer to ask us to leave: and he just waived us goodbye, and since we are Latinos we just left to avoid any racial confrontations or arrest we just left. One of my favorite places in Dallas. I spent every weekend here when I was 19 (yes I snuck in on Saturdays too lol) The only complaint is the front door staff behind the desk, they're all rude and always have attitudes for no reason. But yet again, it is Dallas and everyone thinks they're too good for any and everyone. But they should really try to get people with better attitudes ( and looks ;] ) Also, Krystal Summers and Asia O'hara are absolutely the best queens up in the Rose Room. read more

I like this place a lot. Most of the drag queens are wonderful. There's one, Crystal, who you could never guess was a man. It's almost scary. S/he's hot! haha. This place is pretty big too. The Drag show was the highlight of my visit to Station 4. After the show ended everyone came down to party and the club got pretty packed which is good. Heaven...well if you are a hag like myself. The drag show? Fabulous! The drinks were great and affordable. Then again I'm use to paying $10-$15 for a drink so anything seems affordable. Anyways, seriously the drag show is one of the best I've ever seen and I've been to many shows in different major cities. These ladies can really put on a show! Once the show is over they have a huge dance floor to burn those calories off from all those drinks you downed during the show. Great music, pretty people, friendly staff and lots of places to rest your feet if your heels are killing you and no arrogant straight guys to bother you! I was visiting family in Dallas in the summer of '09, and my brother and I decided to go out to a gay club (im gay, he's not, but he is game for anything) and since he was from the area he recommended Station 4. Oh. My. God. I had an absolute blast! I got there and was immediately impressed by the decor. It's definitely where the hot and trendy go and its good to scope out some hot bodies there. I was unaware that it had a second floor, so when I went up the stairs expecting a small bar and patio, I come across this HUGE room filled with about 300 people watching a drag show. The drag queens were hilarious, I stayed until 3 or so, whenever it closed. Around 2 am, they turned on the bubbles, which from what I remember, was alot of fun. Totally awesome set up - multilevel, drag stage on its own. Different little hangouts all under one roof. Can't complain about this place at all. Bartenders are friendly and flirty. This place is fun, fun, fun!!!! I went here to see Andy from Erasure a while back, and I was completely overwhelmed! The stage was right there in your face! The entire floor was packed, but I could still see, and I'm a shorty!! The place is so, so clean and HUGE!!! The upstairs area has revolving drag shows, and let me just say, I was doubting myself as a woman after seeing those ladies, er she-men, whatever. I dunno, but they were ALL gorgeous - even the more robust ones! They were entertaining, and the show was really interactive! Went to S4 last night to celebrate a friends birthday. She ended up getting food poisoning and normally employees would just be annoyed and ignore that person. Well not here! The manager came over and helped us take care of her right away. Two other employees followed right behind and were so extremely helpful and understanding! Had a great time Saturday night. It was a little too crowded and hot in the drag show room but there were lots of other rooms and plenty of couches strewn about so could sit any watch the pretty people. The ladies restroom on the ground floor was really cool. (that might sound lame..but seriously..check out that bathroom) Parking was a pain and if I would have gotten there 15 min early I would have saved that 8$ cover. I saw on Facebook that they give out a password for free entry on Wednesdays FYI so make sure you go 'like' them before you head out! read more

This place is simply huge. The dance floor is huge. The sound system is huge. The light show is huge. There's bars all over the place. The patio is huge. There's balconies front and back. There's a room on the side called the Rose Room where they have rows of seats and drag shows going on. The worst thing is the attendant in the restroom. Who can't grab a paper towel on their own? I use the hidden restroom over in the side where the dancer cages are. The other annoying thing is the cover charge, but it's not unusual for a large dance club so I can't fault them. read more

But back to my review, great place to dance the night away, and catch a drag show all in the same place. Coo-dos for trying to keep the rose room smoke free. Drag show is always good, and the MC, cant remember her name, but is so freakin funny. Mainly guys, some girls but not always. I moved back here from San Fran I would say that this bar is as close as your going to get to a great gay bar in Dallas. Most nights there is a cover charge, but they have an updated system so instead of opening a tab with one bartender you can just charge it each time and keep your card with you. Best dance club in Dallas; outstanding music, clean and fun.

I really like the interior of this place, but every time I come in the music just kinda sucks. I've tried to go out on the dance floor and actually dance, but you have the be extremely drunk to enjoy the music they usually choose. Huge pauses and barely heard of techno songs do not make for a good dance environment. The drinks are still pretty good if you go to the right bartender, otherwise you might get a weak drink. My only complaint comes from being charged on a night there is usually not a cover charge, just because there was an event going on - on the strip that they could cash in on. read more

Been to this dance club a couple of times. Great music, large dance floor, great drag show upstairs, and excellent patio and lounge area. Love that it is large enough and has many options to have fun. Last visited for Halloween. Went in early and didn't have to wait long in line. Would have liked for the entrance fee to not be so steep ($20) but other than that, it was well worth the visit. Several bars inside give you that flexibility to buy drinks in any part of the club. Bar staff is friendly and quick to prepare drinks. Drag show was fun and entertaining. Would definitely recommend this dance club and will visit again on my next trip to Dallas. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. Let me start out by saying that the S4 staff is incredibly rude and aggressive with their customers. On New Years Eve, I went to S4 accompanied by my boyfriend and a couple friends. My boyfriend and I were walking around, looking for one of our friends and I was aggressively grabbed by the arm (so hard that it HURT) and literally dragged to the front of the club, all the while myself and my boyfriend were asking what was going on. The staff refused to answer us, completely ignored us. We got to the front of the club and I heard one staff member say to the other, "Is this her?" and the other said "No." Apparently, I had been mistaken for someone else. The staff did not say a single word to me or my boyfriend, not a single apology uttered for them brutally harassing me. This is far from the only time I have felt abused by the people that work at S4. I do not recommend going here unless you want to be treated like a criminal simply just for existing. read more

S4 is always the same. That can be good, and it can also be monotonous. I don't know what it was about Saturday night but the place was ROCKIN' .... I think it had something to do with the Whitney Houston tribute throughout the night. The funeral was that morning and many people like me had been in mourning all week. That music allowed us to celebrate, together, the life she had given us. I've been on the dance floor only one other time where it was that packed. For one moment in time (for me, that moment spanned about 2.5 hours), we were all one voice, dancing, celebrating, and singing together. It was cathartic. read more

As a gay person myself, I would consider this to be the BEST gay bar/discotech in Dallas! The dance floor is huge, the bars are numerous, many stools and places to set your drink, and to top it off, there is a huge patio and balcony system in the back and The Rose Room on the second floor is also huge and puts on GREAT female impersonator shows (drag shows)! Ok so I love this place, but I went In at 2 in the morning, and they wouldn't give me a plastic cup of water, but they would sell us a bottle of water. Is this not against the law? What if I got too dehydrated and had a heart attack on the floor? There were plastic cups on every bottle of liquor which seems wasteful. read more

I have been here before a few times and had a blast. For a girl, it is so liberating to go into a club and not have men constantly try to hit on me. I have a friend who is bicurious, so I took him with me to the club so he could experience it. I took my boyfriend who is 100% straight but very accepting of lifestyles. /Edit/ At first I published a pretty scathing review. We paid a small tab, and the business card we used got jacked for a pretty obscene amount. Then a representative from the club contacted me personally to try and sort it out for us. Bad service is not always followed by good management. So I have downgraded my opinion from "what a sheisty place" to "mostly good place to be but occasionally you can be sheisted." We received back about half of what we feel we were erroneously charged, and their representative is telling me that he wants to research the experience more. read more

I went here the other night and just used my card to pay the cover (they told me $8 but then later on my bank statement it said $10) and to buy my friend one drink because I spilled hers and I left around midnight. I don't know what happened but I had found some suspicious charges on my bank account and was reporting fraud, and apparently, there were about 10 transactions from S4 from midnight to 6 am!!! And I definitely was not there and did not make those purchases! It was a rough night and I did black out, but the security guards helped out and told my friends to get me an Uber home... anyways either S4 made fraudulent charges on my debit card after I left or somebody took my card, started a tab or something, and put my card back before I left the bar. Either way, it was super dead and I didn't even get a chance to dance, but I am sure most of these issues are probably my fault because I obviously don't know how to drink correctly, haha! I would probably give this place a chance again if I figure out that they weren't the ones responsible for all the charges on my card. read more

My friends and I went to S4 on a Sunday, and I was impressed; compared to other clubs I've been to in Dallas, the dance floor was way more energetic and fun. The club is nice, lighting is awesome, the DJ can be cool--but it's super annoying to hear like 15 seconds of an awesome song, start to get your groove on, and all of a sudden it switches to a way less awesome song. Not cool, DJ. Though guys at straight clubs come on to you, I've never been physically grabbed or touched at a club without my "asking for it" as much as at S4--I'm a girl, and guys were grabbing at my and my friends' boobs and ass all night. And we had jeans on! The girls weren't all grabby-grabby, so I don't know what that's all about. A little weirdness--my friend wasn't being rude, just chilling and dancing like a normal person, but it seemed like guys went out of their way to shove her really hard out of the way. I don't get why, as it only happened once or twice to me, but they seemed really vindictive towards her particularly. I can see what other people were saying about people being "fake", but that doesn't really bother me--I go out to have a good time, not necessarily to make friends or whatever. The bathroom bothered me, it was really dark in there as the lights were on a flash system, no lock on the door, and the attendant seemed annoyed that we didn't tip her for the honor of washing our hands with soap. All in all, we had a lot of fun dancing and chilling. Dance floor seems a little small to me, but maybe it was just extra crowded. Definitely will be back to dance. read more
