The room has everything you'll need for your stay. Clean and charming. The mansion is full of history and beauty. And every mornings homemade breakfast made by Steve's wife was delicious! On the other hand the owner was completely overwhelming he would not stop talking to us during breakfast. My family and I wanted to talk about the wedding the night before and plan the day to do some sight seeing around the area, but we couldn't get a single word in with each other, because the owner so obnoxiously kept talking. He had to be the center of attention the whole time. Eventually some of us tried to have a side conversation but the owner kept talking to the others. We then had to talk louder to hear one another so the owner talked even louder. We all felt so overwhelmed after breakfast! In order to plan the day everyone had to congregate in my room with the door closed to get a talking moment away from him. We were so exasperated after that morning. I am so sorry to say this, but the owner has to be made aware of himself and future guests have to be made aware of this as well. About the food. We were served bacon and french toast. Although delicious one would think eggs and fruit would be at least be an option at a Bed and Breakfast.

Early morning coffee on the front porch, sitting in newly refurbished Adirondack chairs, enjoying a robust cup of specially blended Pond Mountain Inn coffee! Stunning views of the beautiful trees that surround the property and those on the mountain across the way, with different shades and hues of greens. Some mornings not a cloud in the sky, while others have various sizes and shapes of puffy white clouds sailing by on the jet stream. Listening to many different types of birds chirping and to the woodpeckers pecking. Watching a hawk or two soaring on the winds and tiny hummingbirds feeding a mere 6' away. Hearing the gentle breezes rustling through the trees, watching the occasional deer wander down the gravel drive and then bound across the front lawn to the fields next door. Perhaps a red fox trotting across the lawn to drink at the pond down near The Cottage and then continuing his morning journey. The sun beginning to peak over the top of the mountain across the way and starting to warm the front porch. A perfect start to the morning, and all of this before one of Kay's magnificent breakfasts! Life is good, and even better as a regular guest at Pond Mountain Inn!

I've been here several times, and each room is a different experience. The staff are amazing, the bar is available till 9, and they make great cocktails. The breakfast alone is an experience. Each inn we had…read morechosen throughout Vermont was VERY tastefully appointed, and while our rooms were all quite differently decorated, they were each beautiful, not to mention, CLEAN, no matter where we stayed!! However, here at Four Chimneys Inn, we loved it so much, we asked if we could stay another night, and they said YES ! Our first night was spent in a red and yellow decorated room, which was very spacious and comfortable. The bed and pillows were super comfy ! It was room #11 and on the first floor. Our second night was spent next door in #10, and those colors were creams, blues and muted gray. For some reason, my camera picked up mostly the gray and left very little color to view, which is weird, because there was a lot of blue, which I actually preferred to the red and yellow room. The room was perhaps a bit smaller, but it was still VERY spacious and more than enough room for the 2 of us. Again, the bed and pillows were super comfy. I think I liked this second room more, if nothing else, than because of the colors. Blues, grays and creams just spoke to me more than reds and yellows. I felt more at home, I guess. Both rooms had fireplaces, but in disgusting 90+ degree heat/humidity, no thank you. On the first night of our stay, the inn's restaurant was closed, but when we unexpectedly extended our stay by one night, that also opened the possibility of dining in-house, which thrilled our tired bodies like you wouldn't believe. We didn't feel like doing anymore driving, so we stayed put and ended up having an elegant dinner at Four Chimneys Inn. Breakfast the next morning was included with the price of each night's stay, but we only availed ourselves to breakfast after our second night's stay. (See separate review for the restaurant.) The inn staff was incredibly kind and friendly, not to mention, helpful. If ever we get to return to Bennington, Vermont, there is NO DOUBT that we'd find our way back to staying at the Four Chimneys Inn. Everything about this place is inviting, friendly, comfortable, quaint and charming.

Based on reviews and their webpage, I was under the impression that breakfast was provided but it was not. You can buy breakfast in the restaurant but it is expensive. The weirdest part of the stay was that there is no host to check guests in or help with issues. It is completely virtual! You press the button on a doorbell camera and someone answers after like 5 min. I had to press it several times to get a response at 10 am in the day of my checkout. The response was the staff doesn't show up until 11 am; which is the checkout time. There is a text number but the person or AI agent on the other end clearly is not the innkeeper or anyone capable of making decisions. They/It provided faulty information and was the opposite of helpful. If this is what the future of hospitality looks like, I am not impressed. My family rented two rooms on the first floor. One room facing the back of the property was nice but the other one (#15) was very small and had two windows overlooking the front porch and yard. Unfortunately there are chairs just outside of the windows and someone kept sitting in one of them and talking on her phone. It was very uncomfortable to have the shades open and have someone sitting right there. Because of this we had to keep the curtains drawn and with the room being so small, it felt like we were in a cave. Basically, it sounds like staying at the Jackson used to be a very nice experience but new owners/management are now trying to run the hotel as cheaply as possible. Guests are noticing.

The ambiance was very memorable -- from the adorable covered bridge you drive through, to the architecture of the inn, to the sweet greeting from innkeeper Bill. We felt like we were visiting someone's home, and we could definitely sense Bill's passion for the place. We visited around Christmastime during Covid-19, so Killington wasn't as busy as I'm sure it usually is. We had the choice of eating in the dining room or in their lounge in front of the HUGE and beautifully decorated tree. Christmas music was softly playing, and the romantic cabin aesthetic really made me feel like I was living in a real life Hallmark movie. The food was good, not SUPER memorable, but very yummy. We had the brie (my favorite), ravioli and NY strip steak. Overall, the experience was fantastic for our anniversary. Try it out!
