There is such a clear sense that everyone who works there wants to make sure every guest has a great experience. The owner, Jamie, in particular is always making sure that everything is just right. I ordered the southern staple biscuit with a side salad and got a matcha to go. The matcha was perfect: not too sweet, mixed tea, and just the right amount of oat milk. The salad was a simple side salad. It was good, but nothing stood out about it. I was really excited to try the biscuit; my favorite breakfast item is a good chicken biscuit. Sadly, I was disappointed by the overcooked and horribly crunchy biscuit. The chicken on it paired well with the honey, but I wish there were a few more pickled onions on it to balance out the sweetness. Stay Golden always has outstanding service and amazing food. I think I've tried half the menu at this point and there's not a single bad item. I'm picky about biscuits and these are fantastic! The last time we went they forgot my husband's coffee and the barista apologized and immediately made it. They move the line as fast as they can and the food comes out pretty quickly too. Amazing! I was able to eat a biscuit after many years and it was glorious! The homemade gluten free biscuit was incredibly good! Flaky, buttery...all the good things. I wish they told me when I ordered that I had to get grilled chicken instead of breaded (since it wasn't gluten free), but other than that it was great. What on earth has happened to this place. We use to go to their original location on Sidco all the time previously. We hadn't been to try them again since they moved until this week. I ordered online what we always use to order (classic and Golden Arches biscuit sandwiches). I didn't look at our order until arriving home but wish I would have. The breakfast sandwiches were NOTHING like they use to be..or what is advertised on their website by the way. It's clear they are cutting corners and costs. The "eggs" were this bizzare baked cube of seasoned what I assume are egg whites. Sausage was insanely overcooked. Potatoes we paid extra for, were undercooked and over seasoned. We picked through the sandwiches but threw most of it away. Nothing was good. Both of our stomachs hurt nearly the rest of the day after eating here. Be very cautious eating any hollandaise based items here (I saw they have a few). Hollandaise has to be held at a certain temperature or can be very dangerous. I would stay away from that here since I saw some questionable food practices when I was inside near where they were cooking. There also was a rude employee I encountered when inside the restaurant that was cleaning up. What an absolute bummer. We went a lot out of our way to support them again but won't be back. read more

The featured items were a brandy vanilla latter or a sweet latte with condensed milk (Cuban) which we tried and really enjoyed. This wasn't quite a coffee shop vibe that I was expecting, more a restaurant, but it hit the spot! I had been meaning to check out Stay Golden's new location in The Nations for a while, and I have to say I am impressed! They managed to recreate the vibes from their former cafe in 100 Oaks - while adding in a bit more natural light and fun decor that fits in well with the neighborhood. Hot tip - there is some parking available behind the building! When in doubt, there's always street parking too. I met a friend here for coffee and lunch on a weekday, and decided to try their seasonal Spiced Apple Chai. One word - YUM! If you're a fan of warm fall spices, this drink is a must order. Get it before it's gone! For lunch, I went with the Super Foods Salad, which was just OK for me. "Seasonal fruit" is listed in the ingredients, which I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it wasn't grapes. They felt out of place on an otherwise decent salad - and made me with I had ordered one of the Biscuit Sammies instead. Their "augmented coffee" list is truly different from any coffee menu I've ever seen. We tried the Forever Young, which was a pretty hibiscus coffee drink topped with cream and bee pollen. I also couldn't turn down their take on an espresso martini, A Better Morning. I'm not usually very big on espresso martinis that have cream, but this one was solid. When it was finally our turn we were told they no longer participate in the offline program. Disappointing but we decided to stay regardless. My partner ordered a hot black tea with the green eggs and ham with an over easy egg. The egg was over cooked when brought to the table but good flavor in sauce. I ordered a matcha latte with sweetener and the biscuits and gravy with an over easy egg. My eggs were overcooked as well, closer to over hard. Also, I only found two pieces of sausage on my sausage gravy with it being very watery. A cute environment on a Sunday morning in a great location. ($50 before tip for two) Lots of indoor seating and a handful of outdoor tables. However, this is not "quaint neighborhood". It's an industrial strip mall. The biscuits are ok nothing out of the ordinary. Had both the biscuits and gravy and a cinnamon raisin biscuit. Both were ok. It came with an egg which was fresh. We added some seasonal jam and and a hot chicken thigh. Jam was good. We didn't like the thigh which had a weird flavor. We also had both a hot and cold coffee. They were horrible. They have unisex bathrooms but sadly were dirty and didn't have hand driers or hand towels. They went hard on the minimalist trendy vibe. All said, it was meh. Came here on a dreary Sunday morning and had a really good experience. The man at the counter took our order and gave us a table number to sit at. We ordered two waffle sandwiches which was a special at the time, gingerbread cookie, and a latte. They didn't have pimento cheese which was supposed to be on the sandwich so they kindly offered us a free side which was more than generous in my opinion. The food: The waffle sandwiches were big and delicious with a nice sauce, eggs, and pickled onion. Crispy potatoes were done very well, bacon was crispy but not burnt, and my gingerbread cookie was 5/5 and I'd order two next time. My latte was one of the best in recent memory as well. A hidden gem! We'll be back. We went to Stay Golden for brunch -- order at the counter, receive a number with an *assigned table* -- which I thought was a great touch -- and they bring your food to you. It's a super cute vibe inside and the building it's in seems to be a refurbished older warehouse type building. I also think they've done a great job with consistent branding and signage. There was a line because it was New Year's Day, but in addition to the inside space where the line forms, there's also an airlock area that is indoors, so we never had to stand outside and I felt like the line moved at a very reasonable pace. They have a nice beverage and coffee menu, but we had some coffee on our way over so I'll have to save drinks for next time. For brunch, I ordered the Golden Arches, a biscuit sammy with sausage, egg, and cheese with a side of potatoes. Husb ordered the Benedict and we also got a cinnamon raisin biscuit to go from the pastry counter. The biscuit sandwich was tasty and satisfying, and I'm fairly certain the sausage is homemade based on the taste and look. I didn't try the Benedict, but there was plentiful hollandaise and the eggs looked perfectly runny -- which i normally don't find when ordering Benedict out. After eating the cinnamon raisin biscuit warmed at home, it was maybe even better than my sandwich -- perfectly flaked, and a great balance of sweet with touch of salty. I think that the assigned table combined with the water carafe + glasses provided on the table made for a "counter order" style to feel a bit more cozy. Love the vibe and tasty food. I've been to Stay Golden a few times yearssss ago, and finally came back this past week. It wasn't what I expected! It's good, but not as good as my recent go-to breakfast spot in East Nashville. The drip coffee is really really good! However I wasn't too impressed with the biscuits and gravy. My husband had steak and eggs and said it was good, same with the Bloody Mary.
