We visited the third week of April 2021 to enjoy the town and escape parenting duties and catch up on some sleep. A few hiccups marred an otherwise great stay at the Brick Marketplace. On the first night a smoke alarm battery needed replacing. Husband called on-call maintenance line at 2am but no response by 3am. I called back and Diane replied that Dan would come to replace batteries. Dan arrived, was so pleasant (even at 4:30am!) and took care of the issue. We tried catching up on sleep as the sun was rising that morning. Hoping the second night of our stay would be less eventful. Unfortunately, a rowdy all-night party in Unit 1 spoiled that. Screaming from the balcony, thumping music from 12:30-4am. Not much we could do! The Lofts are perfect entertaining spaces, and we get that, but wish other guests would be more courteous. Difficult for us to recommend Lofts to family and friends -- really great set-up, but when you can't pick your neighbors, booking is potentially an expensive mistake. In short-these units are often rented for parties, not a quiet escape for couples, families or a girls trip. Case in point-the fatal stabbing at one of their properties over Memorial Day weekend. Shameful and unfortunately we would never rent another unit again.

The rooms were comfortable and so clean and location was the best. We could walk to town and Belleview Ave, and parking being what it is in Newport, this was such a great treat. The hosts, Terri & Michael were gracious and kind and so accommodating, it was like being welcomed into an old friends home. Fresh baked goodies were waiting for us upon arrival and special treats just appeared during our stay, making the trip even more memorable. They had the kitchenette so well stocked, everything you could possibly need for a light breakfast at home before setting off to explore Newport for the day. Although Hurricane Sandy delayed our arrival, shortening our stay, accommodations for the sudden change in plans were made. Hawthorne House is nestled in a quiet neighborhood, close to historic downtown Newport and the mansion district, and we found the atmosphere relaxing, the accommodations comfortable, and the hospitality genuine. Terri greeted us at the door upon our arrival and throughout our stay made sure we had everything we needed to make us feel welcome and comfortable, including fresh baked banana bread and homemade chocolate chip and raisin/oatmeal cookies. She kept the refrigerator stocked with a variety of beverages and coffee, tea, and hot chocolate were also available for fresh brewing in the kitchenette. We felt perfectly at home during our stay and even more so when, on late nights out, came back to find the porch and foyer lights on, awaiting our return. We recommend Hawthorne House and the Fitch's kind hospitality to anyone visiting Newport or the surrounding areas.

Spacious bathroom and nice shower products. Kitchen stocked with dishes, coffee pot, microwave stove, fridge and more. Comfortable furniture at the dining table and living room sofa. They have a cool lounge and there are games and nice seating areas. They also have a beautiful rooftop deck with fabulous views of the water. Super clean, the toiletries, i.e.. the shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand soap, and hand lotion were phenomenal! They were from a local company that makes their own aromatherapy products. I wanted to buy some, but was unable to get to the store in Newport while it was opened. Probably can look on the internet, but I think it's pretty expensive. This place was really amazing and really you couldn't ask for more. Great kitchen, great dining room, great living room, great middle space, bedrooms and outdoor space. Great space, beautiful wood floors, the heat works, beautiful views, the house is right on the property of the bird sanctuary and right next to the gift shop. Units are two story with a lot of stairs to climb. You can take the elevator up, but your key won't work on the door. You have to have someone open it so they will have to climb the stairs. There is a small bedroom downstairs. The view was the best thing about this place plus the people were super nice and helpful. There is no restaurant on site so you have to go off property unless you bring food and use the kitchen in the unit.

I quite literally found Chart House by google mapping the area and searching 'hotels' to scan prices. I saw Chart House, looked at the website kind of briefly and booked it. When I tell you I was FLOORED at how gorgeous the property and room were. The building itself is beautiful and historic feeling. We had a parking spot that came in clutch as a boat show was going on. We stayed in the Jane Pickens suite. It is massive, has it's own sunroom, a huge bathroom area with a rainfall shower set up. It was so comfortable it made it hard to leave the room to go do things around town. Not to mention we had a complimentary breakfast everyday, and this is not a holiday inn style buffet, it was made to order absolutely delicious breakfast. Aside from the property itself, it is within walking distance to everything we wanted to see and do. 5 mins to Bowen's Warf, just a few blocks from Thames St. We even walked the 15/20 mins to Easton Beach and the start of the Cliff Walk (but ubered back at the end bc we were wiped from the walk itself). Our host Nicole was so accommodating and sweet. I have not been able to stop talking about the Chart House Inn to everyone who has asked about our trip. I cannot wait to come back and I wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else on our next visit.

It's in walking distance of my restaurants and shops. It's a short drive to many nearby attractions such as the cliff walk. Randy and Lisa were great hosts. We requested to check in early and they were very accommodating. When we arrived Lisa gave us a rundown of the area and suggested a few things to do/places to eat. The room we stayed in was big, clean and comfortable. We were able to control our own air which we appreciated. Breakfast in the morning was wonderful! Coffee and water was readily available at all times. I would definitely stay at the Firehouse Inn again!
